A collision course - sort of
« on: December 29, 2006, 07:00:32 AM »
What is the latest, or has anything changed, concerning Russians coming to America for vacations? I foresee a dilemma in my future, it is this: I will soon be attending a "very difficult to get into" specialty college. For some very good reasons, it cannot be postponed - but I can't say why here. Also, I worked long & hard & saved my money for it. But life being what it is, this dream is on a collision course with another dream, what appears to be a blossoming relationship leading to permanency. BOTH are vitally important but conflicting time wise. In other words, a fiancee visa won't work and I will not be able to get away from school to visit her. No problems getting away from work though. I just can't see her sitting alone in my house for 3 months, for it would be terrible on all levels & a waste of time. (Full time job + full time student) If only I could bring her over for 2 weeks at a time, while I take a vacation from work but still attending classes until we can decide where our relationship is going. She has spent a summer in the US working Au Pair and as a student in the past but...? Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Any advice, suggestions? I'm stumped. Thank you.

I don't know much about it but there are some agencies that bring gals from Russia to work for the summer in some locations where they have a shortage of summer help.  I know this is common in some of the American tourist destinations.  I am talking places like Virginia beach and some of the larger amusement parks.

I doubt that it is possible to request a location so you could be near DisneyWorld and they may send her to DisneyLand.

so she has been here as both a J and an F visa applicant? Another J perhaps. . .  camp counselor program or something like that. How old is this girl anyway?

Have her apply for a one year multi entry tourist visa. If she's been to the US twice already and returned home, her chances of obtaining a tourist visa are good. It will cost her about 100 bucks to find out for sure.

Thank you. If she could somehow get the multi tourist visa it would solve a lot of problems. I'll be glad to pay the $100 to find out. She speaks excellent English and writes it even better.
