Awww Phuket. Wise man say "If man enter the airplane door sideways, he's going to Bangkok".

My internet went out during a windstorm the same day you started this trip report TG and yesterday I just got it back. I skimmed over this quickly and have to say the photos look great and congratulations to you and vwrw.

Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Thank you Billy.  The joke is funny.  Took me a second but it is almost 1 am.  You know you always have our best wishes too.

Negative thinking? Backhanded compliment? Having her wear a burka, expecially if she has great eyes would only make her more noticeable. I saw that alot when I visited Egypt.

If she is a loyal woman than it is ok for her to look good and for her to get "hit" on. Women are, by design, attention getters, or they strive to receive attention. I used to call them "attention whores" but that seems to have offened a few so I will not use that term here. Even my experience, you know the story, had me at one time married to a model, movie actress, Miss Universe runner up...who got hit on so often that she would even get get offers when stopped at traffic lights. Believe me, Ray's lady can and will both handle it and she will enjoy it. All Ray has to do is be down with it as well.

I'm just stating a fact. Turbo's fiance is very beautiful and I know if she were in my area guys from grocery boys to doctors and CEO's would be hitting on her all the time. I don't think she is prepared for the attention. But glad Turbo undersatnds there will be tons of it but he is not jealous about it.

The nore I read from TG's fiance the more I realize what a level headed woman he has and I think he is making a good choice.

Each person is unique that is why I cannot answer what attractive I could see in A MAN. If you meant Turbo, I have seen in him everything I dreamed my husband to have.

If you don't understand something, why the other person is the idiot?

The one sentence says it all.

Turbo and vwrw...Egypt was and is a wonderful place to visit. I hope to return to this magical place one day soon. The Egyptian people are the most friendly and honest, in general, that I have met in my travels around the world. Hong Kong a close second.

I batted the option to travel to Bangkok or to Montego Bay back and forth like a ping pong ball. Not wanting to travel to Thailand...I think there will be another military uprising there soon. After talking to an Aeroflot rep they found me a flight for Lena from Astrakhan to Montego Bay via London for the same cost as the airfare would have been to travel to Bangkok. My fare, Business Class, will be at least $2,000.00 less and 10 hours shorter in travel time for the Jamaica trip. Have a blast in Thailand you two.

Thanks PeeVee.   I am sure we will have a wonderful time.  I have not spent a single second with VWRW that has not been wonderful.   It would have been fun to have you there but I definitely understand your logic and your reasons.

Hopefully sometime, somewhere we can all end up at the same place and have a great time.  I hope you have a wonderful time in Montego Bay.   I look forward to hearing about it.

Maybe. I am not much for trip reporting. I do know that I have airline tickets in hand but no hotel booked as yet. She will fly from Astrakhan to Moscow to London then to Montego Bay. 90 minutes at each stop so the trip for  her will be as quick as possible. $1,200.00 total was not too bad. About the same cost as flying to Bangkok. But for me it was way cheaper. $400.00 round trip from Seattle to Montego Bay but I bought a first class ticket instead. That's just me. I hate to fly coach class. Even with me flying first class I figure this trip was about 2k less expensive for airfare than Thailand would have been and 14 hours quicker in getting there.

You will do a better job at trip reporting than I will, Raybodude.

That is not a bad price to get her to Montego Bay.   I am paying more that that to get VWRW to Bangkok.  I believe it was basically $ 1400.00 for her.   I am getting myself there for a little over $ 800.00 but they are flying me as checked baggage.

I believe when I was playing around trying to get her to that part of the world I was mostly comming up with $ 3000.00 fares.   When are your travel dates PeeVee.  Oh well, at least it will give me a chance to finish the book I am reading and see how Faydra makes out with her investigation.

I liked Faydra's character and adventure. TG let me know what you think of it as well... and maybe PeeVee would be interested too...  ::)

I was joking about something to read on the long flight.   I am about 2/3 done and it is one of those books that really grabs you and is hard to put down.  It will be finished long before the flight to Thailand.   I may take it with me though.  VWRW has been reading some of my books that I have and I think she would enjoy that one.

I will save my James Patterson book for the flight.  Not quite as good as the one I am reading now but it will do.

well i havnt had time to read the T/R's section
in awhile , but finally had the chance..

Ray nice trip report, and
a big Congrats to you and VWRW!!

by the way - i remember that red brick Cairo museam very well.

::::::::::sorry slightly off topic ::::::::

About Egypt, I think there are far more Russians in the Sharm El Sheik resort area, maybe you wouldn't be hassled so much there, and Cairo is just a day trip away. Just a thought for anyone thinking about going there in the future.

jinx you are correct.

Sharm is a very common Russian and Ukranian vacation site.

VWRW-
my wife Tanya experienced the same feelings in Cairo that you did.. and honestly aside from a Nile river trip (sail boat)
and seeing the museams and pyrimids , which she liked,
did not enjoy Cairo at all.

Our trip was to sharm el shiek,
and we took a couple day excursion to Cairo.
I wouldnt base your impression of Egypt too much on this particular city.

Sharm was fantastic by comparision, and with all the Russians there daily  you will not run into the same level of
" being the white bird"
(By nationality, Russians  are likely the largest group of tourists visting there)

Of course the locals may still look !!  or call after you " okasana, svetlana, tatiana, etc.. LOL!  ;D
but in  a far more joking and relaxed way..
just to get a smile or responce  ;)
and not further hassle you.
also a very good percentage of the local hotel , cafe, restaurant  staff know a good deal of the russian language, and some are quite fluent.
That alone can make things feel a little more comfortable.
As a resort town  its pretty commercialized and like a mini US Las vegas atmosphere, with lots of casinos and discos..
not really my thing !
and i enjoyed the diving and snorkling  far more.

Anyway my wife loved Sharm el shiek, and some other places we visited in Egypt,  but was not  not impressed  with Cairo.

a romantic side note..
we were also engaged in Eygpt, must be something in the  water..   ;) :D

a strange side note..
my wife busted a flip flop,
so we go into town market to get a new pair of beach sandels.
An owner in one of the hundreds of  tent kiosks were my wife is haggling flip flop prices..
says to me,, with some confidence " i know you"
I tell him, its unlikley as I have never been to sharm before.
He then spits out my name, and the middle east base  i was stationed at long ago!!
it's a dang small world! and some people have incredible memories.
my wife couldnt fathom how this shop owner knew me..
other than i must have visted sharm with a few RW before.
(no she wasnt upset at all, but she also wasnt buying the
Tanya, listen I  dont have a clue who he is!
or how he possibly knows, or remembers my last name , he says he met me years ago in another place far from sharm
bit)
but she was happy he stopped haggling over the flip flop price, and even thru in a flower into the deal..LOL

Thanks for the nice comments AJ.  We had a wonderful time in Egypt so that is the important thing.  It is one of those places that everyone wants to see so I have no regrets.   I think there is enough of this world that neither of us has seen the Egypt won't be on our trip agenda again for a while but if we go back I will follow your advice and go somewhere besides Cairo.

It can be a small world sometimes.   That was a funny story.  I have had a few strange experiences like that myself and it does shake you up a bit.

I was not surprised that English was so widely spoken there but was a little surprised how common Russian was.    I was also surprised how easily everyone pegged VWRW as Russian.

Thanks again for the nice comments.  I am counting the days to Thailand now.   10 days to go.

Ray, completely understand that there is a lot of places to go see , so you may never get back to Egypt!!

I've been there several times,  for pretty diverse reasons, i likely wouldnt return , unless to sharm el' on a dive trip now.. and even the gardens have been  pretty overun at this point.

My wife has always wanted to go to Thailand!!
Maybe someday..

Hope you both have a great time!!!!!!!

Thanks AJ,  I will try and do a brief TR on it and post some photos.  I am sure we will have a wonderful time.  We are both so happy when we are together that we enjoy being anywhere.   I think another trip to Egypt would be behind Greece, China and the places VWRW has not been in Europe as well as the Caribbean and South America.  Maybe someday.
