Wladimir Klitschko kicks butt!!

MANNHEIM, Germany - Wladimir Klitschko successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title Saturday night, dropping Ray Austin with a flurry of left hooks and stopping the American challenger in the second round.

The Ukrainian knocked down Austin 87 seconds into the round with at least three left hooks. The American climbed to his feet but referee Eddie Cotton stopped the fight.

"I was surprised he got back up, but he wasn't clear in the head," Klitschko said. "I was motivated by the talk from Austin and his promoter, Don King, before the fight."

Klitschko improved to 48-3 with his 43rd knockout in the mandatory defense, while Austin fell to 24-4 with four draws and 16 knockouts.

Neither Austin nor King, both of whom had called Klitschko heartless before the bout, showed up at the postfight press conference.

Klitschko established himself among the best of the heavyweight division with wins over Samuel Peter of Nigeria, Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock.

Both fighters were listed at 6-foot-6 and 246 pounds, with Austin's camp hoping another big heavyweight would trouble Klitschko.

But Austin didn't land a meaningful blow in the first round.

Klitschko measured Austin with his left hand until he caught him on the ropes. The Ukrainian snapped Austin's head sideways with the first left hook, and then followed with a series of hooks, some missing as the American fell to the canvas.

Klitschko never used his right hand that was responsible for most of his knockouts and earned him the nickname Dr. Steelhammer.

"What you saw today, you're going to more of the future _ Wladimir is developing new punches, besides the right and the jab," trainer Emanuel Steward said.

The crowd of 15,000 roared for Klitschko went he walked in, then jeered a fight that featured just a handful of punches.

Austin had been stopped just once before in his four losses, in the ninth round, by Attila Levin in July 2001. It also was his last loss.

The 30-year-old Klitschko won the title in April, stopping Bird in the seventh. Next up, his camp hopes, is a unification fight against WBC champion Nikolai Value, the 7-foot Russian.

"Valuev wants it and I want it," Klitschko said. "But you can imagine how hard it is to deal with Don King."

Austin earned the title shot with a draw in July against unbeaten Russian Sultan Ibragimov.

The bout was televised in more than a hundred countries. Former world champions Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko made short guest appearances in the ring.

Olga has no problem dealing with Don King. 
This past Christmas Olga and I were invited to Willy Gary's  party at his  law firm. This is a high profile party with allot of press and news coverage.
During VIP section of the party Olga had no idea who Don King was. Olga  was walking and talking with him without noticing all the press and news were taking photos of him. The special moment was when Olga said to Don King "YOU HAVE TWO AMERICAN FLAGS PLEASE GIVE ME ONE" Olga not waiting for his answer took one of the flags from Don King, I had to stop talking to some other friends because Dons  security went crazy wanting the flag back because the second flag was for the television interview, so I had to intervene and convince Olga to give Don his flag back it was very funny. When I asked Olga do you know who Don King is Olga's reply was a very nice friendly old man with funny hair who didn't mind if she kept the flag    I am still trying to get the photos of Olga and Don.

I watch as much heavyweight boxing and mixed martial arts as I can. Klitschko is one big man!

I really can't understand this sort of sport. Is it really a pleasure to get a concussion of the brain,  broken jaw and bruises? I think a big man would
be of benefit to a society going in manual constructive labour

Hello,

  Yep,,I've followed Klitch for years now and knew he would get the title sooner or later. Too bad his losses where fights he was winning and injuries caused the losses. Even against Lewis he had that fight well in hand.
  The basic tactics of boxing are not taught in the US anymore and discipline is something that cannot be learned too well unless you are hungry it seems. Until other fighters from other countries learn the basics and how to train hard the CIS countries will dominate.

See what happens when you get Klitschko mad?  I read he wasn't too happy
by all the pre-fight hype/BS from Don King, which presented Austin as a formidable
openant. I really wanted to see that fight and I almost got a hotel room
just to get HBO2.  well...two rounds would not have been worth it.
I hear he may have a 'real' fight this summer, after he gets by some
Russian guy.

For me it doesn't matter where a fighter is from. I pull for the man, not the country.
