Russian Channel One
« on: May 06, 2007, 03:15:09 PM »
It's been almost a month now and the novelty hasn't yet worn off. My usual diet of
Forensic Files & CNN have been preempted by Ekaterina - the luscious brunette with
the flat pulled-back-so-tight-it-must-hurt hairstyle, as she anchors the news show.
Last night we watched over an hour of nonstop pop stars on Golden Gramofon. One
singer, actually Bulgarian in origin, looks a bit like David Cassidy and croons like the
90's Michael Bolton. Most sang as scantily clad dancers provided the visuals. Oh yeah,
there's a host of war films, some with interspersed stock footage. A clone of Who Wants
To Be a Millionaire. Commercials from Brooklyn-based travel agents, doctors, attorneys.

She loves that we added Channel One to the package. Good suggestion guys.

Vaughn,

We had Channel One with Dishnet, but I did something different because I think that's one of the stations my wife didn't like. I'm not sure what we have, but if this means anything (it doesn't to me), we have 3 stations, RTVI, RTVT+, and HTBA. Oksana likes these stations very much. It's funny how some of Russian "movies" as my wife calls them, go in series for about 2-3 months. But, she has all these certain things she watches, kinda like soap operas. I'm recording 1 for her now (over several days).

I found this site: http://www.russiantvonline.com/
for $9.99 (was in January) I watched all I could, but the best part of it was that some programs were recorded, and I could watch them any time I wanted.
