Affordable Visa Filing Service
« on: July 16, 2007, 08:25:05 AM »
When I started the K-1 process, a friend of mine who is married to a woman from Ukraine recommended a visa consultant that he successfully used. I enlisted this gentleman's help and have been very happy with a now successful visa process. While he's not an attorney, he doesn't charge attorneys rates! Obviously, if you have a very difficult situation, you may need an attorney, but probably in almost all case you won't. So why spend the extra money?

His name is Jim Phair and his business is American Assistance Service. He has successfully handled over 1,000 visa applications. He provided us with all paperwork and asked us to provide basic biographic information, photos, etc. He then takes and assembles the package and submits it to the USCIS. He then follows the process and has remained available to answer questions and concerns.

After you receive your notice of approval, he will send you the package he sent to USCIS and you then see how well organized his presentation is to the government. He then provides you with assistance on negotiating the interview process. When you consider that you may likely shell out $10,000 - $25,000 total for the entire process of traveling, meeting, communicating and finally bringing your fiancee' to America, the $485 he charges is a drop in the bucket for buying the peace of mind that Jim brings to your efforts.

He's responsive, works quickly and is just generally a great guy to work with. I give him my highest recommendation.

Note: I have no business association whatsoever with Jim.

First- he has errors in his FAQs.
Second- Immigration consultants are paralegals who cannot go beyond the mere preparation of paperwork without engaging in the practice of law.
Third- his claim of being with you all the way is questionable at best since he cannot lawfully contact anyone on your behalf.
Fourth- He still hasnt updated the impending fee increases.
Fifth-as far as assistance rendered to nonclients with USCIS, smells an awful lot like the practice of law.

If you want to do it on the cheap, you can do just as good a job yourself.

If you want to have a representative, then hire an attorney. But this. . . . . waste of your money. I can have my 17 year old daughter handle this type of work.

Sohkay,

I am glad that everything is working out for you.  I know you had doubts.

Today, I received the NOA 2 for Oksana and Yana.  I did everything myself, including a very complicated IMBRA waiver.  During all these processes, I never spent one dime on a lawyer.  I went through seven lawyers during several years of divorce proceedings until I finally became my own attorney.  Now, my library has a complete set of laws books.  I am convinced that you need to get very much involved in the process yourself to obtain results.  In the case of my divorce, it was only when I hired a good friend who also happens to be an Attorney that I got the results I expected.
