I am thinking the US government needs to follow suit.

Rather than have another uninspiring holiday, let's have a "Day of Conception" !

Not only that, but the chance to win a car - it just keeps getting better and better.

Last year, President Vladimir Putin called the demographic crisis the country's most acute problem and announced a broad effort to boost the birthrate, including cash subsidies for couples giving birth to more than one child. Women who give birth to their second or third child receive $10,000 vouchers to pay for education or home repairs.

Germany pays EUR 154 each month for each of the first three children and 179 for each kid thereafter until they reach the age of 18.

That's at least 45,000 USD per child.

Besides prizes, there needs to be all sorts of games and a full blown carnival to inspire people to procreate. If men aren't up to the challenge, offer up free Vodka for life prizes.

BC, my friend who lives here but from Germany says the same thing. Germany gives huge incentives to citizens to have kid but it's not working. They are still near or dead last when it comes to reproduction.

20+ years ago when I was in school, I got paranoid about how the World's population was going to explode and how we were going to feed and house everyone. Now the same nations that educated and warned us against the poblems of overpopulation are promoting citizens to have more kids. Weird.
