Somebody left the door open again and looked what walked in.
« on: October 10, 2007, 10:18:58 AM »
My name is Thomas and I am a RussianWomanolic.

A little background about me.

I met my now wife accidently online when I was doing some research for a software development center.  That is how I found this forum.  We became best of friends pretty fast and developed some intense feelings in a time period of 8 or so months.  We really thought we were in love back then.  The only problem at that point was meeting in person to see if we had that chemistry.  Boy was I scared because she was everything I had ever wanted so I really wanted it to work.

It did work for us.  Luckily.  I have been living in Odessa, Ukraine for the past 7 months now.  We are newly married.  I am still getting used to the damn ring on my finger.  I have never felt so much love from someone like I do from my wife.  I know most of the men on her understand how lucky we are.

I learned a lot from reading and I would love to give back and help others.    There are a lot of good people on here and I really appreciate the warm welcome.  I see a lot of disagreements on here which is normal.  I do believe deep down everyone wants to help and see others share in the same happiness that most of us are grateful for.

Right now we are doing more paperwork, translations and things of that nature to prepare for a spousal visa for the US.  I should be able to file directly in Kiev since I have been here for more than 6 months.  I have read it averages 2 months to get a visa this way.  Hopefully that information is still accurate.

Welcome Thomas! Nice to hear such a great story!

So if I got you correctly, you met your future wife online, and then you maintained online or phone relations for about 8 month before actually seeing each other in person?

Thomas,
Welcome back, dude!

We are supposed to be nice here so I will.

I am wondering what your ages are and what you are doing to make a living in Ukraine?

Hi Lily,

Yes, we met online and became great friends.  We would be online for 8 hours sometimes and almost everyday.  We talked through msn, skype and text messages.

We really knew each other very good before we met.  Well we thought we did.  You always learn so much more when you live together.  We laugh now because we missed the whole dating and started living together.  Wow what fun that was.

Thanks buddy.

HAHA.  I am sure I will deserve a smack upside the head from time to time so don't hold back.   :cluebat:

I am 37 and she is 27.  I design and build my own software in which I sell online.  I was into real estate and will continue that when I get back to the US.  Some of those markets are getting really nice right now for purchases.  I am still waiting for the bottom to hit.

I am a fellow Michiganer.

I was a consultant for a long time and lived all over the place including Australia for close to 4 years.  I have Sveta interested in Phoenix.  Most definately somewhere warm.

The first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Congratulations Thomas, you've done that. You have a disease and we're the cure. And play nice with Dan this time. ;D

Thomas

You probably have to wait another year or so for the housing bottom.  I just checked the Dallas paper yesterday and in most areas, prices are still going up despite the high inventories.  Then again, the situation is so bad with the state government in Michigan that people may be leaving in droves....

Congrats on finding your second half and please do us a favor by keeping in touch.

Congrats to you as well Timothe.

I think your right about the housing market.  From what I have read online, it will be another year or two to hit the bottom.  Michigan is just a bad economy right now.  I wonder if they will be able to turn it around.  I prefer warmer weather anyway, so Michigan will be a place to visit.  :D

Enjoyed your trip report.
