Hello Neil,

My sister's fiance (also Uk resident) obtained his certificate of non impediment in November 2007 and their wedding is in February this year. I have a copy of the certificate and it doesn't say how long its valid for. Even if it does expire, I guess it should be valid for at least 6 months. Your best bet is to contact your Local Authority, who should be able to address your queries.

I hope this helps.

Hello Mandm

Thanks for the reply, when i actually went to the local office and sat in front of the registrar , she told me not to worry about any time limit,,, so it was just false alarm by the stupid desk clerk,

Bye the way how long did take to get the visa??

thanks

neil

Neil

I presume you are asking about Russian visa? If so, my soon to be brother in law uses company called real russia, they apply for visas via Russian consulate in London and it takes about 10-14 days. My partner uses a company based in Scotland, called russia direct, and their standard service is 7 working days (but normally arrives even quicker than that). I think they are able to obain visas quicker as the consulate in Edinburgh is not as busy as the one in London. I recommend either of these.

Good luck with the wedding and arrangements!

The Russian authorities will only accept a CNI within 3 MONTHS of issue.

If in doubt and British, use Real Russia for all your needs (translations, notarisation, etc), and ask questions such as in this thread on their forum, for the speediest and most informative advice (for Britons).  Note their Moscow and St Pete's offices for handling your beloved's visa(s).
