starting out
« on: November 30, 2007, 08:12:09 AM »
Hello,

I am new to this. I figure I would start by joining elenasmodels. It seems most people here like that site or at least dont think its bad?

I was also thinking of doing a social early next year? Is this something worthwhile? I've read mix reviews from people on this site but some of the reviews are old and maybe aren't current views?

Also are russian women interested in Asian guys? I'm 32 and I've noticed many profiles on elenasmodels note White/European as the type of guy they want.

Also any other suggestions? I was also thinking it might be a good idea to maybe plan a trip with someone else on this site?

thanks

I am actually planning on taking the plunge and just going myself.  Where are you located (generally).  I was just going to go and submerge myself in the culture and set up some dates from a local agency or something.  Keep your ears open and you can probably learn lots from this site.

boltar,
Welcome to RWD.  May I suggest you read the FAQS section as there is a lot of good info for you there,  Tours are usually looked at a thing from the past, but Jack (Bragg) from First Dream puts together a very interesting tour.  You may want to give him a shout as he is a member here.

I was a member of Elenasmodels too.  But they connect you with girls from all over the FSU, and puts pressure to do a visit one type of trip.

That's why I now recommend that a guy go to one city and use one agency so he can have a concentration of girls in one city to meet.

That way, you have options, and don't become serious before meeting the girl.

Welcome, and good luck!

I'm located in NC, USA.

I've learned a lot reading various posts. Is there a starting city and local agency someone like to suggest?

Also just to make sure I understand. The socials aren't very good? The one that looked good was at http://www.loveme.com/.

I think a bonfire using about 500 $ 10.00 bills would do you almost as much good.

I have been on three of the AFA style tours and on one of Jack's tours.   My advice to anyone thinking of a big agency tour like AFA is forget it.   Your odds of meeting a sincere woman are about ziltch but you will have a nice time.    I wasted about 2-3 years and about $ 25,000.00 (including follow up trips to meet the scammers I met at the socials)

I would recommend Jack's tour, (www.firstdream.com) totally.   It will give you a good chance of meeting sincere ladies and the education  alone is worth it.   You will come back an expert on the process and with a lot of good contacts.

boltar,

Take a look at the thread below as it offers a different way to meet a lady other than an agency or social.  To follow up with TG's response to you I met a guy in Kharkov two weeks ago who attended an AFA social.  His critique of the cattle call socials was similar to Turbo's.

One of the biggest problems with the large agency social is anyone off the streets can attend.  You will see newspaper ads for women and even signs out on the street.   The women who are out to scam a man or who are serial daters know that most of the guys in the socials are newbies with little knowledge of the process or what to expect and they have read the big agency propaganda and expect unreal things.   As a result the ladies who are looking for a sucker know they can find them in the socials.    I only met scammers, serial daters and professional fiancee's out to have a bunch of men sending her money for English lessons at the same time.   Good women are scarce.

Jack's tours are populated by ladies from reputable agencies and no one off the streets.  They are a good way to go but the other socials are not.

Harper's published an article about the AFA "tours" last summer and I know I put up the links to that as well as posted a couple of emails from one of their employees complaining about all of the problems in St. Petersburg surrounding the socials concerning invitations to known prostitutes, sex tourists, etc.

If it is not up, I still have the information. . .

TG,

I hope you don't mind if I post a "disclaimer" on this statement.

IIRC while you were attending this tour you pretty much had your thoughts on a certain Barnul lady so while the ladies on the tour may have been from reputable agencies you don't really know for sure if they were sincere or not as there was not the follow up history with them to collaborate this theory.

Please correct me if my memory is off on this.

You do have a point Ken.   When I made the big agency tours I met women who I thought were sincere and on follow up trips found they were scammers.   For example, when I visited one lady in St Petersburg I spent 3 grand in 5 days of which I figure $ 800.00 of that ended up in her pocket and I caught her pulling deceitful stuff on several occasions.    I never made a follow up trip to Ukraine to see how sincere the gals I met there really were.

I do think I learned a lot from the time I made that S.P trip.  A lot of it right here from guys like you, KenC, jb and others.  I really do believe the gals I met on Jack's trip were sincere.   I really think if my trip on Jack's tour had been my very first trip to the FSU I would have come back far wiser and more prepaired for this endeavor.   I will say that of the three gals I liked the best on Jack's trip one was probably very high maintenance.  The one I most likely would have made my first choice was a 40 y.o. without a stitch of English.  However most everyone I met seemed sincere and like their motivations were to find a good husband.  Yes, just as you stated, there is some speculation in that since I did not make a follow up trip to know with certainty.

Would you like an opinion of a RW?

I personally dated a Korean (Russian Korean), my best mate married a Buryat (looks more or less like Japanese). Why don't you just send your picture regardless what is on profiles, I wouldn't hesitate to date such a handsome guy!
