Fishing?  Mostly just an excuse to do nothing with a good day.

Absolutely... there's nothing finer than taking a good day and making it splendid by doing a lot nothing important or required... ahhhh... the joy of freedom...

Harley's?  Cool, nothing to do with manhood, seems more like boyhood to me.

nothing really to do with manhood or boyhood.. and unless I really am completely confused, this is supposed to be a lighthearted FUN thread, poking fun at notions and preconceptions.. even a bit of a good natured roast to each other in the process...

I'm sure you have some toys in the closet somewhere T/G, whatever those might be.

For me, the bike is relaxation.. I get out on the open road, out far away from the city, often into the mountains and just enjoy the scenery and the feeling of complete stress relief.

I would bet that the percentage of hunters and Harley riders who go home and beat their wife is drastically higher than average.   That doesn't not make someone a man in my book.   OK, now I have had my fun, your turn.

Not sure of the point of that other than to throw discord into an otherwise fun thread.  I would never beat my wife unless she scared the fish or scratched my bike... sheesh..

T/G...

Typically I side with you on a lot of posts...  BUT...  after a morning of fishing on my bass boat... then come home to take Elena for a ride on the harley...  When I bring her home a beating is not what she gets.  We usually will drink a few suds and get busy with some other physical activities.

Yes...  this thread was started to poke a bit of fun at stereotypes...

Some men have more testosterone then others.

How much of a man is a man if he considers this thread not manly enough?

Typically I side with you on a lot of posts...

Maxxum, why would you want to side with a loser?  T/G is everything most men want to avoid.  Get your thoughts aligned properly, figure out who are the good guys and who are the nutcases.  Otherwise, no one will give your posts any credence.

Maxxum,
Maybe we can start another collection of ideas while we are accumulating your "man facts"?

How about:  You know you're puzzy whipped when.........?

when you put the toilet seat down out of habit (or fear)

when you have a permanent crook in your back from kissing your wife's arse.

when you have to measure your words on RWD for fear that your honey might read them.

There is a start.

Dave, My post was just in fun as well.   I do think there is some truth in it though. It is frequently said that the difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys.   If guns and Harley's etc are toys then how can it be a measure of manhood?
Successful second childhood yes.

Toys in the closet.  Me?   Not much, an old set of golf clubs that may not qet quite as much use in the future.

Maxxim, listen to jb.   He is right as usual.   Anyone who sides and agrees with someone who is not repected and listened to on RWD is going to loose his own credabiltiy just as jb says.   Oh, and how many people have you on ignore now jb?

Ah, but I am safe Ken.  I had a dog when I was married.  According to jb that gives me plus points.   As I recall it was a toy french poodle named Fifi!

Let's see, liking to fish makes you a real man.  What was that photo I saw of some beautiful blond gal holding something???????????

Back to the first list.

1) I walk where I friggen well feel like at the time, if that's in front or behind, so be it. BTW, I am married to the "Daughter" so that leaves me (If walking arrears) with two pretty cute butts to admire. 8) Most of the time, I end up with one on each arm and a kid on my hip. Just the way it is. 8)

2) Trailers, I built the things for years and you can hook 3X40 footers together end to end and I'll put 'em where you want 'em in reverse for 2 or 300 yards. Takes a bit of patience at first and makes good training for being married to Russian woman.

3) Tyres... can change what you like where you like and hate every minute of it but the reality is they all go bang at some stage and a boy has gotta do what a boy has gotta do.

Guns, dogs and fishing all fit into being a rounded country kid. Leave one of the three out and you'll go hungry at some stage.

Quite right, I/O

I've had some outstanding gun dogs over the past 40, or so years.  All of them were black Labs, my current old lady is 13 y.o. and retired now.  I'll be looking for a replacement someday soon, but until she expires of natural causes I wouldn't break her heart by bringing another pup into the house.  I'll just do my bird hunting with friends who have working dogs.

Here's a shot of her in her younger days.  In her day she was the best bird dog in Texas.  Did me proud many days.

The boat is a salt water flats cruiser made locally.

My sister and her husband have 5 bikes between them.  4 Harleys and a Gold Wing.  It's a good combination because out of 4 Harleys at least ONE of them has to run at any given time, and failing that, well the GW is reliable as a sunrise.  :-X

Phil: Likes riding motorcycles, not fixing them! 8)

Phil, How old are the Harley's?  There were some serious problems during the AMF years that have never been lived down, but the modern bikes are reliable with proper maintenance.  I also have a Shadow (considered one of the most reliable cruisers ever) and all of the late model Harley's I've owned have been every bit as reliable.

That Gold Wing is neither a bike nor a motorcycle.. it's half a Civic!  ;)

Some types of two wheeled marvels simply don't have a good name... like those crazy flying machines AJ rides.. don't know what to call a half plane/half motorcycle, but something with the word "nuts" in it would seem appropriate.  ;D

ahh -
well i do design , build and ride/race 500cc dirt bikes, both Honda and Kawasakis (now) actually.so fairly jap bike oriented..
but if you guys are going to get all Harley on me..lol

I have a friend that is considerably older,,but still a hero to many,
and defines a mans man in my book.
He was one of the first *Indian* team riders to win a national dirt track title way back when if you beat the harley dominated field on anything else , the crowd would quite possibly pound you to death, when returning to the pits.
When that sport was as dirty gritty and dangerous as it can get.Including the old board tracks..
His bikes are still in the AMA heritage museam, the man is in his mid 80's ,sharp as a tack, and still works a 40 hour week ,every week, in a local machine shop..because he WANTS to.and still tough as nails.Definantly would make the current crop of suburbia yuppie harley riders look like girl scouts. It does take more than a brand of bike to make anything manly..lol

JB: Had a black Lab for a while, but sadly, never really got her to working stage (You know that slow maturing pup thing with the Lab's) before she met her waterloo with a Roo that was too big for her and I was too slow to get the right shot in.

Had a number of different working dogs (Cattle and sheep) but never had the luxury of a real "Gun Dog" more is the pity. My favourite hunting dog was what we call a "Roo Dog" which is a slightly oversized Greyhound. Man are they fun to set aflight and watch them at near 40MPH clear a 5' fence without breaking rhythm and then run down a 6' red buck. They are poetry in motion and a good man with a gun (Which I am barely ordinary) is no match for these guys when it comes to the spot/kill ratio. They never miss, never.

Dave

Actually they are newer bikes... I think the oldest is an '02 Sportster.. just doing a jab.  Seriously I like Harleys but I believe that there are better bikes for less money.  I mean, I can go to any Honda shop, make a deal on a bike and ride it home that day.  Every time I have ever gone to the HD store they act as if they are doing me a favor by taking my money and then they tell me I might have to wait up to 6 months to get my bike.

Goldwings... A Civic?  I think you underestimate them.  I've always considered them to be an Accord on two wheels (three if you have the sidecar option!)

It's been a while since I had my own bike.. I really miss my '83 Nighthawk 550 (only year a 550 was made).  6 speed, shaft drive, no waiting.

Maybe after I get back in the U.S. I'll get another bike... I've always liked the R-series BMW.

I don't give a flying "f" about this quiz or anybody else's definition of what a man should be. I live my life on my terms. :mooning: . I would however glance a time or two at the buttocks in front of me.  :P

P.S. Dave belated congrats for you and your lady. Good luck and happiness in the future to the both of you.

#1 I do stand back and enjoy the show,,,and the other sites(When I pay for a vacation I do want to be included!!!)
#2 I drive 2 Fire trucks AND a 102 ft ladder truck and can back them up. Also have a CDL class A with air brake drivers license so I think I can back anything up!
#3 I don't have time to wait for AAA to come change a flat(prob 1-2 hour response). I can do it in 5 minutes or so. About the cost,,Limo tires are about 200 buck's each so my limo company pays for everything.
