Nah, but I am a realist however. This whole story strikes me as very odd. This is what I seem to remember:

1. HiTech met his fiancée on his first trip, spent a few days with her and then proposed by Skype. He was inquiring about wedding dresses before even embarking on his second trip;
2. HiTech goes back and his fiancée is shopping for dresses and seems to want the most expensive dress in all of Ukraine;
3. HiTech can't refuse because of her "sad eyes."

Is is just me or does something just not add up? The other numbers also don't add up. $1,000 to have a dress sewn in Ukraine? The average salary in the country is $250 per month. So, if I get this straight, HiTech's fiancée is claiming that it will cost the equivalent of four months salary to get a dress sewn? Scott pointed out that the cost should be less than $200 which is a much more reasonable figure in my opinion. To be honest, I find the whole thing very peculiar.

that's not even the worst part of the story...

Well, I am not an active member of RWD anymore, I just come here once a week to read what happens in the world...

This thread has turned me into huge depression which has been lasting for 3 days by now...

the fact is that I know "a little more" of this love story of HiTech with his gf and I promised him not to tell this story.
 and I will not tell the story...
but

HiTech, can you do me a favor and go to the local church, buy a big candle, to confess and pray and ask him/her to give you some brain and eyes.
Thank you very much in advance,

Your ex friend,
Serebro.

Serebro, I think a lot of us have known for awhile that something here is really, really wrong.

That's all I'll say about it, but I hope you'll reconsider and begin posting again, I for one miss your viewpoints.

Well Hi-Tech, you've been hit by the clue bat once again  :cluebat:.  I hope you take heed.  I hope you are not another man blinded by the power of the bush.  Think long and hard about what you are doing.  Is your wedding dress laced with gold threads???   Chances are you will be in for a world of hurt once the full extent of the claws are extended and thrust into your hide.  I have seen it too many times over the years.  OK, that is the last you will hear about it from me.

Cities make a big difference in price. In kharkov for a dress she really liked she was around $2600.
In Druvskovka $1000 max would get a custom made dress of any material, along with shoes and other accessory.
I was very happy, she gets to choose anything she wants, and it stays with in the budget.

Jazzy I do not know how much we will spend on the dress. I just now know it is less than 1000 including shoes.
In Nikolaev I saw them in the 7000 range.

Scott, I assume that was including material? If it was, yes send me the name and phone number.

AnastassiaAsh: Besides the dress,I believe she would be happy with me doing the rest of the wedding planing. She would be happy with a quick Las Vagas wedding, My guess is her complete outfit will be about 400 - 600.

Is it me or does this look like negotiating the price ?
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

The title of this thread did not entice me to read it, yet I have now read it and found it a microcosm of the diverse community of RWD members.

The middle pages had some hilarious interactions.  Then again I am easily amused.

Regarding dresses, all I know is that when I married 30 years ago, the maid of honor's mother made the dress.  It was fine for a small church wedding.

She wore the dress once after that, to a Halloween party 10 years later.   I think she just wanted to show everyone that she could still wear the dress after two children.  It fit perfectly except in the bust - the "titty fairy" came to our house with our babies and never left.

That's all the important and useful information I have about wedding dresses.
