Naturally, my sister-in-law during her short stay visiting us on a tourist visa married an American guy.  What is the proper path she has to take from here?  I assume she needs an AIA certified immigration attorney.   Her husband found somebody who is charging her 6K for I do not what.  I assume he is taking her marriage certificate, making her get whatever appropriate shots and applying for an I-485.  Now, she is supposed to travel back to Russia end of June and then back to the USA the end of July.  Will she have to have an I-131 at this point?  I assume so.  How hard will it be for her to get all of this done assuming her paperwork is submitted by April 1?

What you are describing doesnt make complete sense. When did she arrive? When did she marry? Is she going out to interview abroad on a K3 visa? Is she in or out of the presumptions under 30/60/90? no comprende. . . .

Sounds like they are paying 6K for a basic AOS here in the states with a travel document in the middle.

She arrived December 28.  She had a six month tourist visa.  She married in mid March.  I am not sure what the lawyer will do thats why I ask.  Thanks William.

Straight AOS-for $6K. A little steep if these are the facts. I need to raise my rates about 250%. I am obviously way too low.

If it includes the filing fees it is a little better. Appearing for the interview and alot of client prep if he thinks they are phoneys- maybe $5K.

So all the attorney needs to do is get her marriage certificate and apply for AOS?

They got married past the 60 day mark-we usually recommend waiting past the 90 day mark.

Straight AOS. with extra prep for the phoney marriage folks. Either he is charging a hell of a lot or he thinks they are phoneys and wants to milk the cash cow.

The only way that she is traveling out and coming back is on a parole document. I dont think any DOs have a 3 month turnaround on green cards right now.
