Getting Married in Russia a tale of three budgets
« on: May 03, 2008, 09:36:33 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I have been discussing this in a relatively in depth fashion with my lady for some time. More specifically a subset of the wedding being anticipated costs and budget for it. In doing some digging amongst the various on line resources, I haven't really been able to find a whole lot about this anywhere. So I thought it may be an interesting discussion to have here.

I know there are a number of people who have done the K-3 route recently. I am curious if perhaps we could have a hypothetical discussion on 3 variations of this as peoples situations differ. My questions are thus. What do you all expect a current day wedding would cost in Russia in a decent medium sized city, which is not St Pete, or Moscow.

For giggles lets throw an arbitrary number of guests out there as 60.
The 'wedding' would encompass the church ceremony, ZAGS, the reception gifts for the guests,' transportation, and a photographer/videographer.

The idea here is to be realistic, and have honest discourse about this as I'm sure there are people here who post and or lurk that fall into all 3 categories. Kindly keep the flames to a minimum.

Situation A:

A high end wedding with the best the city has to offer for a couple who has the means to live life to the fullest.

Situation B:

A  middle of the road wedding for an average 'middle class' 30k/year type couple who would like to have a nice time but can't afford 50 cases of Veuve Cliquot and Osetra for all.

Situation C:

A low end stereotypical 'shotgun-city hall' style wedding. No frills, and highly enjoyable for the welfare Winston WU type Bubba's fresh outta the mobile home park. Looking for a down home good time.

Let's say that this is the 'first' wedding for both the 'intended', and that the man, will be shouldering the majority of the costs. So what could someone reasonable expect the costs to be in these situations?
