Heading for Dnepropetrovsk

Hello Group,

I'll be heading to Dnepropetrovsk from September 19 to October 21.  I'm looking for recommendations for an apartment rental.  Since I'll be there for more than a month, I'm looking for a monthly rate rather than the normal daily rate.  I wrote to Majestic Ladies who have apartments listed but never received a response.  Same problem with Dnepropetrovsk Apartments....http://dneprapartments.com.ua  How do these places stay in business??  I'll also be needing an independent translator.  Often translators have connections for apartments.  I can probably hire one from Cindy Agency since they have many but I prefer one not affiliated with an agency.  Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Robert

I've wondered that myself. I've called businesses in the FSU direct a few times and none has ever gotten back to me on what I need. At least they could've told me they what I want is not available. They just put people on ignore.

I have a friend in Dnepr, a female, who is a professional interpreter and has worked w/many westerners before. PM me if you'd like her contact info.

I've used Cindy's interpreters before and they were competent but very young and inexperienced.

Ccowboy, You might also try Chris Campling. He lives in Sevastopol, but books apartments all over Ukraine. He has traveled around the country, met the owners, and listed the apartments on his site. Chris is English. His wife is Ukrainian, and helps communicate with the apartment owners when needed.

Thanks BillyB, I checked out your recommendation.  They have a problem with their site.  You can't make contact without obtaining a password.  When I put in the anti-scam word, I get a message that my response was incorrect.  I repeated more than 6 times with the same result.USAApartment Rental.

Wendell, I contacted Chris for a trip to Sevastopol earlier this year.  Maybe I got lucky but I found a great apartment substantially less than what he was offering.  I'm usually able to rent a city center westernized 1 bedroom apartment for $900-1000 for a month.  I've been able to do this in Kharkov and Sevastopol so I don't expect Dnepropetrovsk to be any different.  Maybe with inflation and the weak dollar, that figure may be a little higher now.

You might want to check w/your contacts in Dnepr about seeing if they can find when the English Movie Club is meeting during the time of your visit. On my last visit to Dnepr I planned on attending (I think they meet one night every week) but got sidetracked w/a woman I was dating.

For you other guys searching, I'm sure you can find similar clubs in most major FSU cities where you can meet English-speaking women interested in Western culture who are outside the agency sphere.

Since you are familiar with Cindy agency,,
did you contact them about flat/apt rentals?
They have several contacts for apartments,and were reasonable.
