"My World" (Russian MySpace)

Just wondering if anyone has checked out Мой Мир (My World)? It's the Russian version of our popular American website MySpace. It's connected to the http://my.mail.ru email addresses that all our lovely friends seem to have. The website is only in Russian, so if you are just learning to speak the language it's a great way to figure out how to read it too, otherwise you better enjoy cutting and pasting to Google Translator.

Anyway, you can get your mail.ru address for free and set up a profile with photos and details like anywhere else and it works just like MySpace. It's mostly for finding friends, sharing photos, and keeping in contact with each other, but I think there may be a yet unexplored possibility to make contact with these real ladies.  You can search for ladies by name, age, height, weight, marital status, children, location, etc. You see her profile and photos, and can become her "friend" and/or write directly to her email address.

You can also see who is checking out your profile as a "guest". It's pretty cool, I set up my profile just to find some pals three days ago and I have gotten lots of attention and several emails.

The thing is, the ladies you may find are not on there to meet a foreign guy, so many of them may not be interested, or are not the kind of lady you want to know anyway. You have to be able to dismiss those that have "party girl" or "aspiring model/actress" written all over them.  But it could also be a good thing if you find a pretty, sweet, honest, genuine lady because she is surely not expecting you and thus may be surprised and delighted by your attention. Very low possibility of a pro dater or agency girl. 

Who knows? I'd be interested to hear some feedback on this.

I've been on Мой Мир for probably around 6 months give or take.
Personally, I like it. It works for me, my understanding of the language gets better everytime I go to that site. Met quite few great girls, most of them way below my age bracket and then I have a huge laugh when an 11 year old sends a friend request. I think I even had one as young as 10. I didn't hide the fact that I am an English speaker and I find that the girls from 20 upwards mostly battle with English but 14, 15, 16 year olds they are ok with it and request tutoring in it. So I get my Russian tutoring from 15 and 16 year olds...... so what? I'm learning and they are learning, its a win win situation and it costs nada. I think its a great networking tool and anyone from the west would be wise to open an account on Мой Мир. You have nothing to lose and probably a lot to gain. I'm there for the music and learning the language but if any women are interested, if I'm in their town I'd meet them on the condition that my girlfriend comes along and there has been no aversion to that idea. If it ever comes into practice, I'll post the results good or bad hehe
But all in all its a great site and a hell of a lot to go through, but if you're serious about their language and culture then Мой Мир is the site to be at.

One young lady that I met on Мой Мир is a singer and has released a cd.
She reckons she is 21 but I think 25 is more like it. Her name is Лилия Ангел
