My Trip to Russia Report
« on: November 02, 2008, 01:13:32 PM »
Hello everyone,

I recently made the trip to Russia and ended up being very successful in my search (I'm moving to Moscow in 2 weeks). I wanted to share with everyone my experiences and strategy to possibly help others out.

Initial Search

I spend the first 6 months looking at profiles and contemplating the idea in my head. I didn't contact any women because I wasn't sure and I didn't want to waste time corresponding and nothing materialize.

I finally committed to making the decision to look for a partner in Russia/Ukraine, so I bought the ticket and scheduled 2 weeks off from work. It was only 1 month before my flight, that I began to contact women. Up until this point, I had written a program to index the profiles on elenas models and luckylovers and I had categorized all the profiles I was interested in, so it was easy for me to quickly select the women i was interested in. I ranked the women based on the following criterion.

Location - Must be near my travel path, since I don't have time to travel too much in two weeks.
English - Must have high enough English proficiency to communicate with each other. Good to fluent.
Appearance - Must be cute to attractive, not looking for a super model type. The pictures must be classy and respectful.
Description - Must have an interesting description that shows seriousness and compatibility.
Interest - Must show a high level of interest in me in the beginning.

I sent a long introduction letter to the women, which was about 3-4 pages and went into great detail about myself and purposes of contact. I made the mistake of having it translated into Russian by Elenas Models. I paid for the best service and was absolutely ripped off. I showed it to a Russian American friend and he told me it was computer generated and made no sense, it had a strange mix of business and medical terms. I had him translate it, but it turns out it wasn't even necessary since all of the women understood English well enough. I received a very positive response from the women about the letter, they thought it was great and fascinating to read. I believe it helped eliminate and save time from women who weren't compatible.

I limited sending my letter to only a small number ~30-40 women who I thought were the best match. I received responses from about half of the women. I immediately asked for their phone numbers and called them. I called all of them and was able to eliminate the ones who didn't show interest, had an attitude or gave me a strange feeling of something not being right. Now I was down to 8 women of whom 3 were very promising. I told the women my intentions were to meet as friends only and see if any chemistry develops in person. I never became romantic or made promises I couldn't keep and told them I thought corresponding and talking on the telephone was a waste of time until we had a chance to meet in person. They all seemed to like this approach very much.

First Contact

I will continue if there is interest ..  :)

Please share with me how you are moving there. I have a 12 month business visa, but can only stay there 90 days every 6 months which I will almost use up with my 4th trip in a few weeks after staying there with my lady until sometime in January.
If there is another way, I would stay with my lady until she gets her visa.

Graad,

Yes please,  continue...   :P

I already like your approach and your "head set straight on your shoulders approach".  Why make things harder than they have to be!

I'll be waiting eagerly for more posts (including after your relocation)!

Graad,

I'm very interested in your trip and your move.  Did you look for a job while you were there?

So many questions.  I really like your analytical approach.

How did they like your approach?  Did they know you were dating others as only 'friends' also?

I look forward to your write up.

Gradd, well, it's almost embarassing to reply to your post.  First off, you one upped me by developing a program to download profiles.  I relied on a hard copy filing cabinet.  Second, I have to admit to being just as analytical in my approach.  Cold hearted guy that I am, it just seems fair to be as clear and honest about bottomline reality as you can, no ploys or emotions involved.  It's the core foundation that matters, all the rest grows out from there.  Is it a good bet you integrated that type of thinking into your introduction letter?

I just have to ask another question.  (My face is red just from admitting to thinking about this.)  Did you develop a spreadsheet associated with temperament type compatabilities?  Were there key words in profiles that fed into this?  Or was this function integrated into your letter of introduction?

I had additional variables to work with one being living in a small town.  Even included satellite imagery, digital maps and local tourism brochures to clarify this with women who I wrote to more than once.  It's only an hour from the capital and we are there once a week, it was just something for the women to consider.  This factor also influenced the areas I searched in, this may have been a mistake, but it worked.

Your approach is appealing.  It also should be a clarifier and attractor for women of compatible intelligence and interests.  The inverse of being a filter for women who would not find your preferences/intellect attractive may also be a benefit to both parties.

O.K.  Have a good laugh at the planner's expense.  I enjoyed your post.

I kind of did the same thing, I made a spread sheet of different women locations.
Plan on visiting about 8 different cities. but, that is too much. At most, 3 cities is sufficient.
I made several mistakes. first one, meeting a pro dater, right out of the gate. I was out matched. and didnt know what I was doing, wasted too much time and money. I had 15 days, and spent 7 on , one woman.
had too many cities listed to visit.
I need to have only 3 cities to visit, and more that that, it is too much.
try to meet woman, in 3 different parts of the country. if they are serious, they would come to you.
start communicating 2 or 3 weeks ahead of meeting, and get phone numbers. get a hotel with internet,
I met women from www.1russian-women.com  , on my own, I corresponded.
I wish that I could have met more women. I only ended up meet 4 woman.
2 wont respond, and 1 possible.
i think kiev, odessa, and lugansk. 3 cities in different location. have it setup to meet 15-20 women, each location.
would be preferred.
are there any other ways to meet women, besides the internet? I dont want to pay for marriage service. their fees are
expensive.
