If you can live in one country, go to another for work, third for lunch and forth for dinner and all of that without a private jet - it's tiny!   ;)

That's our next goal - move to Europe for few years.   Hopefully on payed employment scheme.    :D

Um, well, you have problems doing that if you live in the center of any of the European countries except maybe Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. :D I drove through Luxembourg once and almost missed it.

I used to live on a mountain in France and commute to Switzerland to work in the morning - took me all of 10 minutes. :)

That's exactly my point!   We used to live in Texas (Houston) and it takes you 12 hours by car just to cross the state line!!!    :o :D

The thing is, even if you can drive from one country to the next for lunch, dinner, and work there's not a great deal of difference between them, at least not around the border areas. So, except for passing a douane sign there's little to tell that you're in another country.

At many border crossings there is already no douane sign. Its just a small blue sign that gives away you entered in to another country.
Actually to do some shopping I currently have to pass trhough one country, reaching the third. :D
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

ooops.  There is differences around the border.  At least I see it.

Here in Brussels Belgium their is a big divide between the Arabs, Africans, Dutch, and French.  I mention Arabs and Africans as they are over taking the city center of Brussels.   Brussels is like 4 separate countries.

The more north you go in Belgium it is Dutch so when you cross the border into Netherlands it is not much different.  Same for the Belgium south which is French.  But going east towards Germany you see a big difference on the border.

Via high speed train you can get to England quickly from Belgium and their is a big change once you cross the border.

So your dream is not destroyed.  Just have to pick the right country to live in.  Switzerland would not be a good country because there is no change on their borders with France and Germany.

Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, and London easy to be done in a day with minimal time on a train.  You can even fly to Kiev from any of these cities daily.  There is a big change than. :D

But there's some change WITHIN it, in its French, German and Italian cantons ;).

Yes, and yes, to KS too but I thought we were talking about living in one, working in another, lunch in a third and dinner somewhere else entirely. Not very practical commuting every day between Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, and London and certainly not just for lunch. Even getting from Geneva to Lausanne in the neighbouring canton of Vaud just for lunch and back is not realistic on a day to day basis.

Many days I start out near Amsterdam go to Paris and back to Brussels.  Sometimes throw in Zurich and / or London.

Yes, and I've been to lunch in Lausanne too but that doesn't mean that most people in a normal working day could do it all the time.

My sister is married to a man from Luxembourg. On the way back from her wedding to our hotel, we took the wrong road and we asked where we are. Answer was in Belgium. We go back, drove around 40 min. We were in Germany. Finally a Luxembourg police car show us the way to the hotel...

One of the best thing in Europa is the density of trains. With low cost airlines too, It is very easy and not expensive to spend a week end in Italy and to go back to Paris to work on monday.

This is probably what I miss (with wine)  the more from my country. This variety of landscape, culture, languages on so short distances.

Don't know about country clubs, but in addition to a country, there's a Palais du Luxembourg in Paris - the seat of French Senate ;).
