Blacklist sites and refrral sites
« on: October 12, 2005, 08:04:24 AM »
I posted this on the other board, but I also want to here what Jack and Kevin think about this? I think it will make good reading.

Blacklist site and Refrral sites ?

O.K. I need some info on this from some of you internet kings,

I type in the name of a well named Scam service with the word Blacklist behind it

Sample

________ blacklist up comes some scam stuff, but the next 50 listing look like they are referring this service as a honest service.

I don't understand 100% what this is, but I think its no more then bill board advertising and affiliate partnership programs.

The question is most of this just internet marketing by the big 3 ? and all the internet specialist

am doubting between and but here is my view of this thing, based on experience with Google. Other search engines that have not yet been bought by them will not work very different.

First of all I wonder why someone would enter the name of the service and blacklist. The results are as expected. If I was looking for the rep of a service I might search on "service_name complaint" or even "service_name scam".

So how do you get results presented ?

Search engines 'read' billions of pages every day. In a search page of your website you can put metatags (unseen commands and instructions). One of these is the number of days between visits of a search engine bot.
In the old days, people would put search words in the meta tags. These were the words the search engine used to index the pages. It was simple to enter 'strange' words like the name of competitors, associations like 'sex' and so on. Since a few years this method is outdated. Search engines now read all visible words in a page and put them to the index. And not many people will put the name of their main competitors in the visible text.
(for the fellow internet kings, yes I know the escape possibility).

So how do you generate hits for your partners and affiliates ? Google has a system called Google ads. If you pay to get your ads shown, you will also get a link to use. By using this link on your affiliates, everyone who is clicking on these links while hopping from site to site adds to the number of hits. Also the hits through Google ads count as double in comparison with the 'normal' search hits.
The order of the results are a mix of many things. There are the basic keywords, the number of times a page has been 'found' with Google, the number of times it has actually been visited through Google and the number of times the Google ad was shown and clicked on. By paying for the ads and using a Google link in stead of a normal banner it is possible to boost the rating.

On a side note, many website owners get offers (spam and no spam) about generating 'traffic'. Basically this is a scam. The only was you can generate traffic for your website is by making it better known in your target group. Doing this by spamming will not exactly help. And generating traffic can be done by many different ways, one more clever than the other. However if someone guarantees you traffic for a price, you can be certain they will use a script to generate this traffic. Some are easy to discover, others are very sophisticated.

Shadon_mas thanks,

I am just not good with this stuff.

Is there a difference between blacklist sites and top rated Russian bride sites. It almost seams that they are one and the same.

If you run a top rated Russian bride site that list agency as good agency are these site just getting paid for the advertising by the agency or is it just good mata tags in text.

If these top ratted Russian site are run by affiliate Programs then when men use these services they are getting scams ? before they even get started with an agency.

maybe there should be a blacklist for top rated Russian bride sites. This could make for good reading for someone to research and see who runs most of these sites

Jim or Kevin maybe you should add a new section to your blacklist? Bogus top rated Russian bride sites.

I just wonder are men being lead by the big affiliate programs right back to the vary same site by the affiliate program its seams that they can get you one way or the other?

For one of you men that hates agency if I am right you could have a lot of fun exsposeing the affiliate program as being a big part of these so called referral sites? as being one big circle jerk.

Blacklist sites and refrral sites

Marc

Some sites are obvious that they are a referral site for another agency and others are just guys helping other guys.  My site
http://www.honestmarriageagencies.com does list my site on it. But at the same time it list my competitors on it and I don't accept any banner or advertisement fee's for a listing.  So for myself I have a site that promotes my agency and others who are honest.  No charge for a listing.

Another example. http://www.womenrussia.com/blacklist.htm and http://www.russian-women-info.com/ this is another blacklist site that is part of elenamodels.com agency and every primary link on there site will refer back to this agency.  This is a site that is designed to provide information and promote its owner at the same time. There is a link page for other agencies if you look hard enough.

So to answer you question. Every blacklist has a sponsor or someone who is promoting it in one form or another to cover the cost of maintaining and hosting. What you need to look for is how the site promotes it primary agency and how it promotes its competitors.

I used to have a listing of dishonest and scam agencies on my site. But because they are competitors there were some legal issues. I would love to see a site owner that doesn't own an agency to promote a blacklist that he is willing to name the agencies without legal ramifications.

Hope this helps explain how the sites work.
