Faux Pas,

I haven't been "beat up on".  By the way, I don't think you need "on" at the end of that sentence.  However, I digress.  My comment was made in jest.  It seems that Au,Ray is receiving more of an interogation than a welcome.  I was just wondering if this is the common "welcome" a new-comer gets.

We're not all cheerleaders or the Welcome Wagon. If you need encouragement and slaps on the back talk to your parents or seek a therapist. Some of us do appreciate those who come here to learn as opposed those wasting our time as well as their own. Perhaps you should run spell check before criticizing my grammar?  ;D

Quote
However, the scenario itself illustrates my point.  You and I speak the same language, yet my "joke" was missed by you.  Is it that far outside the realm of possibilty that English isn't this guy's native languange?

No it wasn't missed. Especially on the internet forums there is a very fine line between sarcasm and humor. His english was never questioned by me. It was his trolling.

Quote
My point is that we should ask this guy for clarification of why he posted, inform him of what goes on here, and leave the ball in his court.  If he responds, we go forward.  If not, we move on.

Yeah.  We're obviously discussing that right now.

He was asked. You know ST, it really doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what goes on here. If he does have an interest in RW he has came to the right place and my or someone else's greeting or lack of it, won't make any difference. If he did come to pick up a lady he'll be likely disappointed. He is studying graphic arts so he is not unfamiliar with the internet or a computer

Quote
Granted, I have taken your comment out of context, but isn't one of the purposes of this forum to discuss the how to's of finding and meeting FSU women?  So in that regard, yes I did join in the hopes of finding a lady.  Not to worry sir, you are correct in that I have been disappointed so far.  (That's a joke BTW.  But you do have to admit we tend to hijack posts and stray from discussions here.  Yes, I realize that I'm starting to develop that habit as well.)

It's a sad day when Sculpto is making more sense than the rest of us.   ;D

Some threads are destined for hijack.   ;D

OK I give up, how do you trigger the spell check?
[Using Vista]
Vista has nothing to do with it ;). When you post, you have 3 buttons under the text area:

1. Post
2. Preview
3. Spell Check

OK
I need to click the little pencil & notebook on the right side of the post to get it to work though.

Vista has nothing to do with it
I had Windows XP before.
If I were to incorrectly type/spell a word in any format [chat forums..email..etc] a  squiggly  red line would automatically appear under the word.
My new version doesn't do that

I have Windows XP now, and I can see nothing of the sort. Maybe I turned it off, since I use the spell check VERY rarely and, when I do, I prefer the old-fashioned dictionary route.

I can't see that, either ::).

Do goths still exist? That's news to me... About 10-15 years ago it was common to see suburban teenagers around NYC wearing polyester capes and white makeup that was, I believe, intended to look scary but only made the men appear gay.

Groove, unfortunately they do exist.  Ran into a herd of them in the mall in Milwaukee suburbs this past weekend and I think herd is a good term for them.  Than in taco bell Tuesday night in Oakbrook Illinois area the place was packed with them.  You never see any of them ever working.  To me they seem like rich spoiled kids rebelling since mama and papa are no longer married. I see a lot more women than men in the goth drag.

they are called "Emo" now.. as in "emotional"... lots of drugs and depressing music and bad fashions.. in Mexico there is a big anti Emo movement and in some places its dangerous to be an Emo alone on the street, there have been some killings and a lot of beatings.  Don't see many of them in SF anymore.. some suburban kids mostly..

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

I suspect Au,Ray texts a lot.  So, I'm not sure why the acridity.  He is not, after all, writing a school essay.

Why is it unfortunate?  Should everyone conform to your notions of what is acceptable?  As long as they are not bothering anyone else, who cares?

Incidentally, I think it is psychologically normal for teenagers to rebel, and I don't blame them if they act out because their parents were too selfish to sacrifice for them.

Sculpto, not all emos are into drugs.  Some are very anti drug.

Quite obviously some of the people on the forum don't like anyone that is different from them.  That is a lot more unfortunate than the subculture they ridicule.

Drugs.. might be true Boethius.. my encounters with that subset indicates a lot of drug use.. mostly "E" because it makes them FEEL better, in Mexico.. sadly its glue because its cheap.  But you are probably right that some are very anti drug..

At least when I was younger we had something to show for all the glue sniffing we did.  I don't think they even bother to sell the models anymore just the glue.

Hi Boethius,

Of course people do not have to follow what I think it is acceptable. Just as it is ok for me to dislike people I do not like.  I could care less who likes me and who does not.  I like people who work for a living and I do not like people causing problems in public places like the goths or whoever thet are I mentioned.

The person who posted on here is not a goth.  Probably a young kid trying to be funny with a bunch of mostly old men like myself talking about Russian women.   :D

Drinking alcohol and throwing food in taco bell.  In the mall to many things to list but watching them steal shoes was not very good.  But I am sure majority of Goths do not do this.  The gangs cause a lot more problems in the mall but are smart enough that I do not see it.

I generally do not like someone one day and the next day have no problem with them.  Right now I do not like the decline of USA and Obama babying stupid Americans. So when I see people screwing around knowing that Obama will give them free health care and money makes me a little pissed. I do not want USA to become like Canada and Obama is trying to make it happen.

Kiev.. all I can say is LOL.  What were you like at 16, 18, 21?  Actually, don't answer that, I know you were focused.. but what if those goths were dressed like a bunch of Madison greek system kids with aligator shirts and penny's in their loafers and they were behaving badly in public, like those types often do, would you still be as annoyed?

I have a friend who describes himself as a professional prankster.. he would have a heyday with you I think.. ;)

How does your friend respond to a fist to his nose (after he gets up off the floor)?

Scultpo,

Tough guys have great control and only fight if they have to.  Navy seals are the nicest guys you will meet even when drunk.  But you will never see them start a fight when drunk.  Tough guys do not start fights, they finish them.  I would suspect your friend who is a prankster probably lies about his background to make him tougher.  But if you friend is a French marine, than my niece of 8 years old could beat him.   ;D

I used to work as a bouncer and have escorted many rich fraternity boys outside (escort not fight).  America has rules and people need to behave them in public places.  Does not matter if rich, poor, how you dress - taco bell and malls have a lot of children and mothers around and there needs to be some order.  Most of the rich kids where I live tend to dress goth or whatever it is.  I am not an expert on piercings and dark clothes.  Poor kids tend to get into gangs where I live.  But gangs do not want attention where as the rich kids do.
