Well, I took some of the advice here and posted an ad on one of the free personals and got some response, two from SIBERIA ( Omsk and Novosibirisk) Any of you all had experience with Siberian ladies,or travelling to that part of the world , etc? It looks every bit of a two day trip to Moscow and then over the entire old USSR to Siberia. Yikes!

Yeah, some folks in Alaska say they can see Russia on a clear day (they have smog up there?).. wonder if swimming is an option, maybe in winter walking carefully will do?

Well, I had one visit to Omsk for just over two weeks. I absolutely loved the city and the people there.  I/O, Catzenmouse, and GoodOlBoy all have married wonderful ladies from that city.  There is at least one guy here who married a lady from Novosibirsk, but I can't remember who at this moment.

Omsk has more of a Crimean feel to them.  The atmosphere is laid back even in the hustling bustling city.  Very different from the vibe in Kiev or Moscow.  Of course, in a two week visit I merely scratched the surface there, but I can honestly say that it's one of my favorite cities that I have visited.  Of course, the ladies will all have their individual traits and cannot be lumped together with a city, but overall, the vibe is fantabulous.  Even met a fellow guitar enthusiast with whom I still keep in touch, sending mp3's of guitar riffs and such.

It's still a "wrinkled brow" Russian city, meaning that you'll see many scowls on the street, but don't let that fool you because the people warm up very quickly -- and especially so if you say a couple of words in Russian.

That's my take on it... I'm sure the other guys with much more experience there will chime in soon with a more detailed perspective.

Think that was Muckraker.  Classy guy, wonder how he's doing. IIRC his TR's are in the archives, good read.

I'm from Siberia. Travel time from Moscow to Novosibirsk is about 4 hours by plane, to Omsk 3-3,30 hours.

Highly recommended. I've been quite a few times and expect more in the near and distant future. Siberia is just another leg to travel on the trip. Meaning it takes a little longer to get there. No big deal really other than it requires a tad more planning and expense. I haven't been to Omsk or Novosibirsk but I expect you won't notice much difference in the people than you will in Moscow or St. Pete. I enjoy Siberia and have always been treated warmly by most everyone.

I have my own personal list of different types of "RW/UW". Tops on my list (in general) are the Siberians. Unfortunately the ride there is just too darn far. I spend a long time on the road to get there. I've made a lot of really good friends there. Just a 13 hour flight to get to Moscow, then typically all the way across the city to fly out of DME. Typically that flight leaves at or around midnight. Then by the time I get to somewhere in Siberia, it is about 7AM thanks to the flight times and time differences. My body clock is totally off because I am off anywhere from 12-14 from my normal time zone.

It wasn't bad when I was living in Moscow to hop over there. Coming from the US was just a real strain and it took me a while to adapt. OTOH the best woman I ever met in my life up until recently was from Siberia. They are some of the friendliest and warmest people I've ever met. They had a saying "cold hands, warm hearts". In the winter is was really cold (even colder than where I live and that is darn cold) and then the summers were brutally hot too at times. Siberia truly deserves its rep for cold temps but most people don't think about it being hot. I was there several times when it was +45 to +47 Celsius. That is hotter than temps often are in Egypt in many places AND there was no air conditioning.

I'll always have a real soft spot for Siberia though. My first true love of a RW (not counting when I was a teenager) was in Siberia.
Take time to learn the language. Even a little can go a long ways...

Get off your butt and go! Don't make excuses why you can't do it, find a way to make it work! Always go with a backup plan too!!!

I am from Omsk, my parents live there. If you have questions or need help with anything in Omsk, write me to PM.

My wife's from Novosibirsk! I think it's a great city! I definately remember the grueling trip over. It's been 5 years since We've been there. My flight was Atlanta-Frankfort-Moscow-Novosibirsk. I flew to Novosibirsk out of SVO on aeroflot. At the time IIRC there was a daily flight to Novosibirsk at 9PM. That meant a 7-8 hour layover. In the wintyer they flew the airbuses and in the summer the old Soviet type...if you have long legs like me you will suffer on that flight!

We are really looking forward to going back. Last 2 years our plans keep getting interrupted. We are definately going back next summer. It will be interesting for us to see how things have changed.
