Does a UK Spouse Visa holder need a Shengen Visa?

As per the title, if my wife-to-be (from Ukraine) successfully obtains her UK Spouse Visa, would she still need to apply for a Shengen Visa if we wish to take a holiday in the likes of Spain or France?
