UK Visa Email Notification - Kiev Embassy

Has anybody recently applied for for a UK Visa in Kyiv? If so, did they email you when they had come to a decision?

The reason being is that I've seen this being mentioned across a few different forums just now. However, when my GF got her visa for UK back in February 2008, the communication from the VAC was terrible. No email, no phone call and calling them was even less fruitful. In the end, we resorted to turning up at the VAC everyday until we got further notification of the decision (come back for interview). We're making another application in September and I'd like to know if anything has changed. Will they contact us via email when they have made the decision or will we have to hang around the application centre for a few days again waiting for news?

It's exactly the same as you experienced before i'm afraid.

What type of visa has she applied for?

My GF (now wife) applied for a Tourist visa in January which got rejected. We then got married in June and applied for a Settlement visa instead. It's now been 6 weeks and we have heard nothing. You can't speak to anyone who makes the decision and they only return any emails you send to them with a standard reply along the lines of "we are very busy, please be patient". The quality of service is frankly awful.
