As much as I hate to admit it I met my wife on HRB-RLM.
However I will give then no credit for it.

Back then for a brief time they did a monthly membership with unlimited letters. It was about $30 a month.
We wrote to each other and HRB kept changing the rules when it came to in person meetings. They did not allow contact info exchange and when asking about in peson meeting their rules kept changing. I was left with nothing more then the feeling they did not want two people to meet because they would lose money or the cost was going into the $1000's of dollars to do so.

I sent my now wife codes in my letters. Then one day I wrote explaining to put the pieaces together.
I received an email from her to private email a couple of days later. At that point we were both gone from their site.
So I did use it but would never in a million years recommend somone to use them.

The contact with the owner was good, especially when knowing it was a basicly free dating site. Once a number of profiles got stolen, including mine. As I never used the same profile twice on sites where I registered, It was easy to trace. When I posted on the new site forums it was denied and the posts deleted.
After the denial I contacted the owner of Merrydating and as by magic all stolen profiles were gone ...

None...  but then again my advice would be to trust no one and trust nothing...  not taxi drivers, guides, agencies, apartment services, translators, women, or ANYNE until after you've verified their integrity through prolonged personal experience.

I only used EM but was reading profiles with a fine-tooth comb. For whatever reason, this resulted in only meeting "real" gals. Some were open about their desire to "just get out" but that was the only discordant note encountered.

For some reason though, I did continually encounter guys (usually Americans but a few Brits) who complained bitterly about getting burned shopping, dining out, arranged drivers and excursions. My only conclusion is/was that they were dating a fantasy image rather than trying to actually find real people.

Life isn't a movie script and being cast in a romance Theron just isn't in the cards. Even Brad is having some pushback issues it seems.

I'll third Kuna's and ECOCK's cautionary advice. Be wary of any person or entity who can profit from your search. Self-reliance and learning to trust your own instincts are invaluable tools here.

100% agree. I always believed trust is earned over time. Benefit of the doubt is better given on the onset but it easily suggests exercising due and proper caution. Trust - no way, not until it's earned.
