Hello HOLA!!!
« on: November 09, 2009, 09:40:02 PM »
Here I am fellows.
A lone & unlucky guy from Mexico, joining the dream...the "hunt" for a slavish princess.
Hope in my time with you all on these forums I dont annoy anyone, will try hardly to dont bother or cause conflict with no one. If I do say, in generalization, something offensive, please apologize in advance but dont take it personal, again is some generalization, that will come IF it got to. Otherwise I will refrain.
Hope my stay is pleasant and can help as well as be helped.   :D

Hi, Isamu, most welcome!

I hate to see you lone and unlucky,Isamu! Please, cheer up ! Internet unites people, and we can support one another, laugh together, spar at times......but it's rarely boring!

And a small "assignment"  for you ( a wee warming -up, so-to- speak) , right away :-)

Please, tell us about your beautiful, exotic land/ country and its people ( just imagine, it's your first rehearsal, your future Russian girlfriend, who most likely, will be eager to learn things about you and your country). Try to show your land in the best possible way. You do love it, don't you!
As a possible tip, I suggest the following format: what would Hernando ( that is Cortes) see in Mexico of today ?

What would gladden/ surprise him ( spiritual aspect, cultural aspect, demographical aspect)?
Even if in a few words.

Of course, the majority of RW here on the list , I'm sure, do have the general information. But it would be most interesting to listen to YOU!

I have never been to Mexico, and will gladly listen to anything you have to say.

Hello and Hola to you as well!

All the success to you.  I am certain some of us may have had a chuckle when reading your introduction but also understand, that since you are most likely not a native English speaker, that we should respond generously.  And so here is a small recommendation from a dyed-in-the-wool gringo from the grandma's school of English grammar.

You might confuse your princess if you refer to her as slavish.  In English, slavish means slave-like and if she has an advanced knowledge of English she will likely take offense.  Therefore do use the word slavic to refer to your princess and you might just avoid a catastrophe.

On the other hand perhaps your lady speaks Spanish very well indeed and you'll be off to the races.

Welcome Isamu. I read your other post too. It's a whopper. If you've come here prepared to fail, then you've come well prepared. Get off the sensitive nice guy act and grow some balls like a man. Next time there is a bar room brawl in this forum, I'm going to look you up and drag you into the middle of it.

I'm going to write an intro letter to a RW and tell me your opinion.

Dear Nastya,
Here I am, BillyB, a lonely and unlucky gentleman from America searching for my Slavic princess. I hope during our time in correspondence I don't annoy you and that we shall not bother each other or engage in conflict. A thousand apologies in advance for all I say in the future that may offend you. I hope my communications with you is pleasant. Again, I apologize for anything I've said or done in my first letter that may have offended you. If I have said something that has offended you, please tell me what I have done wrong and I shall refrain and apologize.
Yours Apologetically,
BillyB

Do you honestly believe I will score some points with people, and especially with a woman I want to get romantic with? Never introduce yourself apologizing for offenses that never may materialize.

2012isFiction, Is that you Sculpto? Name change, drugs in hand and on moderated status. YOU need to start apologizing! Last time I was here, you were meeting your RW in Mexico. How did that turn out?

Wow.. here we go again with another nice welcome to a newbie.

Billy.. how about you show at least a little bit of common decency and respect for other cultures?  If this is how you have acted in the FSU no wonder you are still searching.

Isamu.. no precupes con gente asi.. no los entienden nada y son poco mas de la espuma que sale en los drenages.

Respect for other cultures? The way Isamu presented himself in his first two posts isn't normal in any culture. If he is for REAL, he did ask for help and if he accepts help, he will significantly increase his odds in having some romance in his life otherwise he will be forced to practice abstinence for a long time coming. He doesn't need a politically correct hint on what he's doing wrong, he needs a wake up call.

As far as searching, yes, I'm searching for a woman I can spend my life with but for now I have to settle for some wonderful cozy evenings with a variety of local RW. I've got 3 dates with 3 different RW in less than a week. I think one of them doesn't really care about a relationship with me and is only using my body for her selfish needs.  I can handle the rejection. Don't worry about me. I'll make it through these tough times.

The way Isamu presented himself in his first post is VERY normal for a working class Mexicano of a certain generation.

From my experience.. people who brag about their sexual conquests.. well.. arent having any.  :)

I work around Mexicans and traveled thousands of mile on the Mexican highways. It is not in their culture to apologize in advance for offenses not yet commited. I think Isamu knows he's unique but he is toughing up! He used the F word in a recent post in his other thread. We may soon need to tell him to reverse course and go back to being a nice guy if this gets out of hand. Looking at all those RW marriage bikini sites can do strange things to men.

Bienvenidos al foro.  :)

2012 do not forget you because you are American you have a plus with local Mexican girls (and the rest of Latin American girls), which means that will show you their nice side and face hiding at the same time their claws and fangs from you. Although are fluent in Spanish in an impressive way, you may miss some red flags and particular unpleasant behaviours that local girls cannot hide from me, as I can discover which is their real face and personality, they cannot hide it from me because I am a local. I am pretty sure this does not apply only to Latin girls it must be somehow a similar situation regarding girls from other cultures in other parts of the world.

There are mainly two reasons Mexican guys are importing their wives, girlfriends and so on:

1. They have the money to import their women from Europe and they want the status that provides this, (we are talking about guys from middle and upper classes who has economic resources, education and they are going to be white or predominantly white, thus they are from a very different background from the typical "Latinos" that you guys in the US are used to receive in a illegal way by hordes.

2. The second reason for looking for a Mexican guy looking for Russian women are basically the same reasons  American men have for going to Russia in search of a Russian girls. Unfortunately Mexican women are not what they used to be in the past, they tend to copy and imitate American women in almost every aspect in their life so their prototype of an ideal modern women is basically what American women have become and we all know when it comes to relationships and marriage those type of feminist are not always the best option. Regarding local women Mexican women, they no longer want to be “women” they emancipated and try to take  over the place of the men, in the past they wanted to find a good man with whom they could create and raise an honest family with traditional values now they want to wear Prada, go out in social life and want a man with a six pack who drives a BMW if you get my point.  The more westernized a country becomes the more jaded the women there tend to be it seems. Add that Latin American women in general tend to prefer foreign men and you have a very complicated situation for local guys.

If you have inquieres or curiosity about Mexico check this: http://www.mexicoru.com/forum

Those are forums in Russian for Russian and FSU citizens living in Mexico, the majority of people over there seem to be Russian women for the reason we all know already.

I think you meant: "Hernán CortéS". IINM, in Castilian an accent is required in oxytonic words ending in N and S only, not Z (e.g. Jerez, capataz, etc.) ;) ;) ;)

That's a brilliant line. I wonder what dr. Freud would say about it  :P
I think you will clutch with Russian women very well. Russians never apologize and Mexicans apologize in advance
It's your problem if you take my posts too seriously.

Yes you are right, those type of words are called "palabras agudas" in Spanish, actually the rule is that an accent is wrote when they end in N, S and also in vocals (e.g. Canción, jamón, comerá) I made a typing mistake here, as I was thinking about the writer "Cortazar"  when I wrote that ;) ;) ;) ;) . The opposite to "palabras agudas" are the "palabras graves" which have a written accent when they do not end in N, S or in vocals (e.g. Cárcel, cáncer, hábil) and at last but not least we have the "palabras esdrújulas" which always have an accent (e.g. Lágrima, éxtasis, océano)... there are also the "palabras sobresdrújulas" which always have an accent like the esdrújulas but they are longer (e.g. Considéramelos, véndemelo, entrégaselo).

I prefer to say "Hernán" when speaking English/Spanish because "Hernando" reminds me of ancient Spanish which sounds funny and weird, that is why many people here know him just as "Hernán".

The names Hernán, Hernando, and Fernando are all equally correct. The latter two were most commonly used during his lifetime, but the former shortened form has become common in both the Spanish and English languages in modern times, and is the name which many people know him by today

Although Hernando Cortes-- is what  I ussually hear in the English speaking media, ( you may find it in
Webster's dictionary, too), I will remember that there is a source that suggests  a curtailed version, too.  Thanks.

Here's a cover book from the Espasa Encyclopedia, it shows the short version is the most used in the Spanish speaking world  ;):

http://www.espasa.es/Hernán-Cortes,Madariaga,-Salvador-de_2_1748

For English speakers it is normal to not notice the difference between ancient Spanish and current Spanish forms, that is why they can use words from both forms in a indistinguishable way. There is no problem when they use such words in English as I suspect based on English grammar such forms are correctly used (as shown in Webster's website), but when using them with a native Spanish speaker such words will sound very funny.  ;) ;) ;)

A more actual and accurate example is the Spanish word "Bravo" (молодец на русском языке) when adapted into English, the word "Bravo" sounds the same and it means the same that in Spanish.
