It's one ticket that connects in Gatwick. She will check her baggage in Kiev and pick it up in Tampa.  This is better than the JFK routine, where you have to pick up your bag and move it to a connection area.

Had just glanced earlier that you were considering Aerosvit .....is that who you went with?

Yes, I was considering Aerosvit, since it would be a direct flight from Kiev to JFK, and would avoid the transit visa issue.

But in the meantime, my wife called the Ukrainian Embassy, and got the green light on the transfer at Gatwick.  Thus, we went the BA route so MIL could fly directly into Tampa.

Aerosvit? I flew them once and did not like the service.  From then on, I flew the same route with Delta.  Now, it appears that Delta flight (Kiev to JFK) is no longer operating.
