We're trying to fit in a bit of everything; Norwegian (yesterday), British (today - Turkey dinner :) ) and Russian on New Years Eve (although I'm going to try Norwegian pinnekjøtt for dinner).

;) Yes, I'm off out the kitchen to make the stuffing now... We're not going to eat until later this afternoon though ... Just had a big Christmas breakfast so we're as stuffed as the Turkey is about to be. :D

We did the Norsk, Russisk, Amerikansk thing... 8)
Opened presents yesterday eve, ate pinnekjøt and medisterkake, jule brød, potet, kålrabi støpe and russian red cabbage salad, karamelpudding for desert. Quenched our thirst with Øl og akavit and a nice white wine we picked up in Berlin last month. It was just my wife and her daughter and myself, as her son is in Ukraine for the holidays and my kids are spread out over the west coast (USA).
I do love the dark time of the year here, so cozy!!!

Cold? It's 25C in here at the moment and I'm thinking of opening a window - it's snowing outside but not so cold. When I was growing up I used to always hope (usually in vain) for a white Christmas now I get to see it most years.

Sounds nice :) We had a rack of lamb yesterday; I guess it's close enough to pinnekjøtt to be considered a Norwegian Christmas dinner. ;) Neither of us drink much so even though I have a bottle of good Gilde Non Plus Ultra aquavit in the cupboard we didn't touch it. Maybe tonight with the turkey though.

I'm hoping that we can bring my MIL and my wife's cousin or best friend over for next year to celebrate with us.

I am a little lost.  25C would be hot wouldn't it?   25F would be cold?   

VWRW and I should get everything for our Chrismas.   We wake up to 80F and sunshine, by noon it should be 90F and by 9 tonight it should be 25F with snow and ice.   

No the temperatures aren't going to drop by 65 degrees except for us as we fly home from our vacation.  Merry Chrismas everyone

25C in our living room. It's only -2C outside at the moment so quite mild. :)

Akavit with Norwegian Christmas food is the same as vodka when eatting salo for the Russians, as the traditional Christmas food here is very fatty. It is part of the technology and traditions and I have found there is actually some benefit to the stomach. Interesting enough the Norwegians only drink akavit for Christmas and a little for new years, I have never seen anyone and I mean anyone order it elsewise.

When I was in public school, Grade 6/7, 1975, I had a Norwegian friend who's Dad came to Montreal working for a Norwegian airline.
I remember eating ribs, meatballs, herring and potatoes at his house one Christmas afternoon.... I loved it!
That day we all went x-country skiing and I crossed the tips of his Dad's favourite wooden skis and broke them :(
He was a great friend, but I lost touch with this fellow in the 90's. I remember his brother wrote children's books.
