Kharkov January 2010
« on: January 23, 2010, 12:09:00 PM »
Just home after 10 days in Kharkov. Great trip!!! Littel bit cold and windy but as always Kharkov rocks :). Just love this city. This was my 22 trip to Kharkov since I came her first time in October 2005. My wife went to Kharkov in December and I came 12 January with my Norwegian friend Ola who is dating a Kharkovshanka named Elenore. They went to Egypt after some days in Kharkov. Also meet my god US friend Rich in Kharkov and as always great to see him. We went to Bolero last Saturday and had the best ever evening in Bolero. My goodness Bolero was packed with the hottest girls and if I was singel I could have done great that night. The girls where on fire:)). Best nightclub in the world??? Maybe..
Had a great time also with my wife and her family. We went to restaurants, shopping, private dinners mm. Now I am just counting down to nest Kharkov trip in the summer!!!

If we had known you were there we could have had you join Felix and Tonya for their lunch!

Glad you had a good trip!

You know I am very interested in the Ukrainian culture and the politician situation. BUT she hate all the politicians in Ukraine saying all are criminals.... ;). The same goes by her sister and husband too. But I know that her mother who lives in a village in Donetsk ob last voted for Janukovich.

I always vote in Norway and I be live that it is very important to vote. I try ed to tell her to vote but she refused STRONGLY!!! ;D

LOL yeah, I can't really blame them, as all of the politicians are just old junior politicians from the old soviet days. It doesn't seem like they will ever get out from their situation. I told my wife they need a Nordman back there like Rurik!!

I am also very interested in the war. I collect war re licks from WW2. You can find some stuff in Kharkov, German helmets and so on. I also know some Ukrainian guys who have a lot of stuff, but it cost a lot to buy some from them. But if you go to some of the outdoors markets you can find some really god stuff, but go with a local if not the price will be much higher :). There is a lot of war history in Kharkov. From October 41 to August 43 so where there a Lot of figting in and around Kharkov. 12 May 42 started Stalin a big offensive just outside Kharkov who ended in catastrophe for the Red army. They where beaten badly by the German forces. In January 43 the Red army again took controll over Kharkov before the SS took back controll in March 43, this was the last major battel on the East front the German forces won. A lot of history in this City. Last night I saw a war documentary on TV where I saw movies taken by the Germans in 42 in colour, very interesting.

My wife's son is interested in those relics also. My wife is from Donetsk most currently, but is from a village in the Donetsk Oblast originally. We are living in Kristiansund now.
