I don't really think it's propaganda  8)

People focus on the negative, don't feel comfortable with changes, they dislike to explore and they forget to live their lives.

Or maybe crave for attention, need to be hugged, I can't say for sure.   ;D

I don't really understand why this thread is called "The Good, the bad, the ugly,... Get the truth". As far as it goes the OP shows only "the bad, the worst and the ugly".

Every country in the world has it's problems. When I came to the US first time one of my first impressions were drugheads asking for change an the NY Grayhound buss station. It didn't make me think that Americans are poor crackheads. I was suprised that after 5 minutes in a shower the water started becoming cold. I was suprised that the walls in the building were about 5 times thinner then in Russia. But I still don't think that America is not a civilized country. I met few guys in the US that didn't have a job and were drinking bear all days long while their wives were working two jobs. It didn't make me think that Americans are not worse talking to, and especially marrying. I've met few white guys talking trash about black guys. It did't make me think that Americans are racists.

This is why some RW here agree with what you wrote. You are absolutely right, we have this problems. But if this is the only impression you brought from such a wonderfull country as mine - I'm sorry for you, but you know NOTHING about Russia and Russians.

For you case, Americanski, we have a very good proverb "свинья везде грязь найдет", what is translated as "a pig will find mud everywhere". If your life is so deeply f-cked up, please don't blame Russia for this. Yes we are absolutely fine. We have our problems, but they are OUR problems, we have our own way owr own lifestyle. And don't you ever dare to talk about Russia, Russian people and Russian women in general as we are some lower class then you.

P.S. If you were talking the same way in Russia, I'm happy to inform you that you made a good job in creating for many people a perseption of an american person as about a rude, arrogant and stupid SOB.
As a matter of biology, if something bites you it is probably female.

People are frequently asking my Russian wife "How do you like it here". For some it is just conversation but for others they are implying she must think this is Disneyland compared to where she came from. Her answer is always that the only reason she is here is because I am here. If I had been in Australia or South Africa she would be there. She never had any desire to be in America. She thinks America is just OK.

I have been in Russia enough to never denigrate it. Both America and Russia have their own unique character.

I agree with NJ on this.  The good, the bad, the ugly, that's fine, but the truth!

All I will say is based on what much of Amerkanski has said about Russian people in general his truth and my truth are quite different.

Yes, every culture has its own unique character and as NJ said  it's problems. When we are talking about negative sides it doesn't necessary mean we talk out of disrespect. 3 years and 7 months not so long term but enough for me to understand that George Carlin did not denigrate his country.   ;)

My Luggage!

About a week into my trip I get a call and find out my luggage has arrived. Friends pick me up and I'm a bit nervous and head out to the Airport. The people at the airport are very official and professional and I noticed my suitcase was literally sewn shut and they wanted me to open it to see if everything is there and to sign something. So I finally get in and see a nice card from the TSA telling me they had the right to bla bla bla. I also noticed everything was turned inside out, and the small bottle of apple martini-mix was open and half of it was all over my gear. Luckily, they did not have the need to open my Makers Mark and this put me in a great mood. I have now learned to get TSA approved locks and to actually watch them go through your luggage State-Side to make things go smoother.

My friends suggested we hit the City Center because it was a nice warm day. We go to a place called the Grand Cafe and in short, it is a artistic version of a Starbucks and very upscale and a very carefully measured shot of whiskey will set you back $12. I soon noticed the male-female ratio was like 3-1 and the competition was in full effect with table fulls of single women and where I had a non-typical conversation with RW who spoke great English in the booth next to us and I got a number. I did not call it because as she got up I noticed a tramp-stamp and thought best to pass.

Volgograd CC:

As we walked around the City I went into a couple stores and was floored on the prices of things especially clothes. I was in an Adidas store and saw socks I got at Target for $6 (for 10) there was $20 for five and cost for shoes made me wonder how the average Russian person can afford this. What I did enjoy was almost every RW I saw was dressed nice and refreshing to see 30-40 year old women who took VERY good care of themselves.

more later

Niyaz Nabeev has been barred from Olympic competitions for five days. As the president of Russia's Federation of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Competitions Vladimir Slavsky said it is consequence of «российское раздолбайство» - "Russian negligence", it is lack of competent specialists to make a correct «blood passport». Did Vladimir Slavsky said it to denigrate his country? I don't think so.

The numbers do not add up because you do not know how the Russian society works.
First of al, never trust statistics. The listed salaries are the 'official' ones, not  what is actually paid, unless a company gets in trouble or the employee does not perform their job well.
Secondly, Russians have a way of saving money for something they wish to buy. They might save money for four or five months to buys those shoes, but they will.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)
