Amerianitz-

quite  a 'tude.

You don't think Misha has a valid point?
I'm American and can spot a western foreigner there in most cases in a heartbeat.
if  having  chance to observe someone buying something, or ordering at a cafe ,it would be easier.

To a Russian it's hardly a challenge, and to pretend different is silly.

No matter how low a profile you attempt to keep.. certainly in your area of Volgograd are "known"

Now wether that effects the type of women you meet i have no idea..
or if "different" they would be the same *type* that a Western man looking for a bride would-
 is worth considering.

If you are trying to help ,these are the types of things that would.

If you are trying to show how large the chip is on your shoulder,, you seem to have  done that successfully already ..

I'm divorced from a RW ,and would say some of the traits you bring up ,might fit parts of her personality, ,but others not at all..certainly wasn't generally rude ,brash , or impolite.
*Thank you's* and appreciation was a common theme, and  for that matter still is.
and that's an "ex"

To me the generalities you've posted are  like reading the horoscope ,, worded  so it could fit almost anyone regardless your sign..

My experince in the FSU isnt like yours at all,is much mor esimilar to kjookys,,
even though i have seen some of the "crabs in a bucket "mentality you refer to.

All Misha did was show his skill of pointing out the incredibly obvious? The US city I live in has a very large population of Russians and Ukrainians and I can spot a Russian a mile away too. He's usually chain smoking, double parking, with his window open in the middle of winter, and I can smell cheap cologne from a half a block away.

The point is, how is that useful information?

You don't lead by example.  You have called him a few names in this thread.  Looks to me like you are a jerk as well.  I would think you should be warned by the mods.

Hi LiveFromUkraine :) Who started this volley? Me or Amerkanski. I never called you a name and you just did to me. What's with that?
Go back and read the Thread and ask yourself who the Jerk is and then ask yourself how you would react to an Insult directed to Your Wife?
Unlike you just did to me I will not call you names LiveFrom Ukraine.

Fall for what?

My questions are pretty straightforward, not complicated as you seem to take them.

What do you disagree with and what do you think I'm sugar-coating?

I can assure you, I've got nothing to sugar-coat. I've met good and bad in Russia and I've laid out a lot of it on this board over the years. But the point is, I've encountered plenty of decent women that are a far cry from what you describe. Your generalizations about Russian women are false. You're dealing with a narrow segment of Russian women. I agree that many men can meet these type of women, but since I doubt most men are deliberately seeking a rude and brash wife, it'd be better for you to tell us how to avoid your situations rather than project your jaded views on Russians in general.

You want to post for the 'new guy' but you're not the only one with experiences in Russia, and you've been showing more and more that your time in Russia might be a lot, but your experiences are very limited.

You did.   I could care less if you call me any names.  I just find if funny that you get all pissed off because of a ambiguous statement about mugging but have no problem calling him a jerk, small man with a napolean complex.

What is with that?

Welcome back after a 4 month hiatus Thomas :)

The name calling on my part only began after Amerkanski ignored the request by myself and the Admin, to explain himself over the Comment he made about....
No, I'm not Boris. If you've never been eye mugged talking English with your wife walking down the street..then maybe there is a reason for that.  ;D

I asked for an explaination 24 hours ago Thomas.

I never said he called Me names Thomas! But you have now called me a Jerk! lol
Looks to me like you are a jerk as well.

Ambiguous Thomas?? Really, how do you interpret the comment Amerkanski made... this time without calling me a Jerk!

Again, what do you disagree with and what do you think I am sugar-coating?

This forum is a discussion. If you want to just rant about your own experiences but receive no feedback you can post a blog.

And what about the good, the bad, the ugly and the truth?

The good, you've only said Russian women look good. As for the rest seems like you've only related your bad experiences with one chick and you've demonstrated that you have limited personal interactions in Russia.

As for the 'truth', do you consider statments such as "Russian men don't talk about women" the truth? I'm talking with one of my workers right now. I asked him if Russian men talk about their women. He said, of course. Who would know more about this, you or a man who's lived in Russia his entire life? I told him I'm posting on a forum where an American says they don't. He says you're an idiot. There's some blunt Russian truth for ya. Can you handle it?

Interesting answers. Your posts tell a whole lot more about you than about Russian women.

Projecting examples of an train attendant or bank cashier's behavior onto 'Russian women' in general is like me using an example of the rude bitches working at the Oakland DMV as an illustration of American women. It's silly and it's plain wrong.

I work with Russian men every day and I have many Russian male friends. I hold weekly meetings with my workers where we drink until dawn and discuss everything under the sun. Strangely enough we don't talk much about money or how stupid people are, but they do talk about women, just like men in every country I've ever been to.

Your answers just tell me that you don't have close personal relationships with your workers or probably with anyone in Russia, despite spending much of your time there over the past five years. You have a very narrow experience of Russia, but consider it the truth. My experiences are limited as well, but I know there's a lot more out there and some great gentle women alongside the rude and brash ones you spend your time with.

If you’ve spent so much time in Russia and still need numbers written down for you then you’re not interacting much with regular Russians. If  you don’t make an effort to speak Russian at all, it’s no wonder you find Russians to be rude. Likely they think the same about you.

I can see where you’re coming from though. If you’re meeting women that approach you, they’ve already pegged you as an American, at least a foreigner, and most likely someone with money. I’ve been targeted the same way by young women with dollar signs in their eyes. Maybe these women would be exactly as you describe, but I wouldn’t know. I never get to know them. I can enjoy a bit of flirting at a nightclub, but when these girls force their numbers into my cell phone, I never give them a call. Sorry, but these girls are trash. Their intentions are obvious and they’re not worth chasing.

I don’t see how telling the truth about your own relationships is going to offend anyone. I think it’s your insistence that your experiences are the only ones to be had that bother people here. I don’t see why though. The married guys should know better. I do.

Jooky, good post and although I'll admit to having nowhere near your experience inside of Russia, my experiences of Russian people and the stories I've heard from my wife pretty much match your experiences.

Funny thing about a Train Attendant.
Generally they are something else.... to nationals and foreigners alike  :-X
This past New Year when travelling back to Moscow from Kirov, Sveta and Papa asked the female Train Attendant to "Please take care of this Foreigner. He speaks little Russian and is nervous" (lol!)
Oh she treated me like gold with smiles, hot water for tea and pleasantries. She kept checking in on me all night! She even let me get away with leaving my used sheets on my top bunk when the train pulled into Moscow!!
She was a Sweetie :)

now were were we.............. ?!!

Jaded, it doesn't take more than one trip to meet some decent people in Russia.

You just can't stay on topic.

How so? I've mentioned some of the Good and the Truth. I've also asked you many questions to clarify your experiences. Like it or not, it's not your prerogative to dictate the course of the thread.

There is also the Bad and the Ugly, but I'd rather help new guys avoid that rather than insist it's their only choice.

Are you able to answer what you disagree with in my posts and what you think I'm sugar-coating? Or is that too complicated?

What is your intention here? If your intention is to help you should tell the inexperienced how to avoid meeting the type of women you meet, and you should welcome others experiences. If your intention is to mislead people that’s not going to fly with other people here.

The problem is you want to impose your version of the truth onto American guys that have never been there. Some may well have experiences like yours if they are unlucky or aren't that astute at finding the right women to meet. Fortunately, there is the real truth out there posted by people like Jooky who will tell people that like any country, Russia is a mixed bag, with as many good and bad people as any other modern industrialized culture.

Your posts have done little to help anyone, even your supposed target audience.

That's pretty funny Amerikanski, but not all Russians can be bought and sold at any price.

My comments are very much on topic, but maybe you can't comprehend that.

Let's talk about the Truth about Russian women. I made some comments about my experiences. Again, what do you think is untrue about them and what do you think I am sugar-coating?

Alright here is the truth. There are too many variables for one person to comprehend "the" valid truth. Let me throw this out. Let's say a RM comes to the US to meet an AW. I guarantee his "opinion" will differ form a women he meets from Midtown Manhattan this it would be from a small city in Mississippi. So when you say,Let's talk about the Truth about Russian women you will get a barrage of different opinions. How about we start there?

Amerkanitz-
I hardly need to bother the admin to remind you  it's an open forum .

You've no ownership to a threads open discussion because you started one,
or in who can participate in it.
Frankly, I see very little off topic that you did not bring along yourself..
You can request it closed ,and i'd gladly oblige.

Please explain WHY on earth your thoughts or advice be only relevant to  a first trip American male?

As I understand that Canadians don't count, neither do  married guys, or men previously married or with any experience..

I'm planning on returning someday ,
and am open to listen to your  experiences ,, even though it doesn't reflect my own so far..

As far as what point Misha had,
and your reply to me about it..

Yes, Yes,  there are a LOT of Russians in my area as well, and i can generally spot them easily as well??
just like i could easily spot you in Volgograd..

The RM here in Chicago,  are not looking for brides here , the American women they might attract  are not going to target them specifically as might happen with an westerner in the FSU.. like you.
so isn't  relevant to the forum
Misha's point was..

I wouldn't doubt that the possible situation with expats ,also applies to western men going to the FSU thru agencies or on there own,, so wether obvious or not ,its quite relevant.

You proclaim to want to help *newbies*

ok a newbie may experience this "targeting" by a general type..both before he ventures, and once there,,
what could  he do to diminish this effect ,or meet more genuine ,sincere women?

It's easy for any of us to point out the problems,
answers to them are what would be helpful to both first time trip takers,  and experienced ones.

I've almost closed this thread a couple of times.. probably should have..
both sides need to lay off the personal insults

.
