Personally I would not say 100% scam.  I would be somewhere in the 97-98% range.   I have had women who were not scammers tell me they loved me after a few emails.   A lot of single guys can go on Awebs website and fall totally in love with dozens of differfnt women just looking at the photos.

She could be just nieve and not really understand what is involved with visas and the like but the only things that do give her a small amount of credibility are the phone call and the photo.  It still sounds pretty fishy to me and as long as he never sends money under any condition he has nothing to lose.  If she says she needs money for the ticket then just don't send it and if he believes she is real then he should visit her.  If she is a scammer she won't agree to that and if she does it would be wise to have a backup plan.

I have to go with I/O here Turbo. You seem to be sugar coating what is going to be the inevitable and giving this guy hope. If it quacks, walks and looks like a duck, it's probably a duck. A sincere woman won't proclaim love within a month and a few emails and insult to injury is the visa statements. 100% scam.

I too, use and know a bit about PS and I can tell you something is seriously wrong with that pic. Seems you two are looking at a shadow but the proof in the pudding is the text. Apparently the girl is real. There is a picture of her right? But there is no indication this is who he is communicating with. Scammers can provide a phone number and a girl to talk to, It's all part and parcel of the scam.

leverk, you are being set-up and plans are laid for a scam. The money letter is coming soon. I am willing to take bets on it. Quite honestly personally, if I were you, I would not waste another minute communicating with this lady/Boris. If you are sincere there are many ladies ready and waiting to hear from you. Why waste your time? Of course if you have nothing better to do than volley with this scammer, go for it.

No good, real, Russian/Ukraine woman will ever tell a man she has never met she loves him.
Now I have to wonder if Mrs Shadow is not good or not real. :wallbash:

Faux Pas,  I gave it basically a one in 50 chance of being real.  I think the chances are that she is a scam and if he doesn't want to waste his time then he should just forget it.  I have to say that if he posts a TR about her visit I will probably fall over from shock.  I do agree that the photo could be photo shopped.  It would take less than 5 minutes but having a stack of Hello Jims, Sams and Pete would be faster.

That photoshopped image was posted not by Kerry but by Jack - to prove a point no doubt -
that practically anyone can produce a similar photo with a name attached...

There is one other point nobody's addressed: To believe a FSU Papa would give his blessing
to such a loose and risky arrangement is borderline hilarious.

Whoever authored that letter takes its recipient as a complete fool.

Faux Pas,  I gave it basically a one in 50 chance of being real.

Sorry, I thought we were dealing with the actual photo so analyzing it is pointless.  I will agree that there is a lot of funky stuff in the letter and the odds of her being real are less than me winning the lottery and I didn't buy a ticket which makes it real hard.

not really- it is the online translator :D

Lev:

If you go to http://translation2.paralink.com/

and translate from English to Russian:
I like you very much.
It becomes:
Я люблю Вас очень.

Use same web site to translate that from Russian to English:
It becomes:
I love you very much.

Use a professional translator, located in US, and do a 3-way phone call
before taking anything seriously.

Buddy, This is just a very typical scam.  She loves you already too, so you got that goin' for you.  Soon with the visa she will be in need of some good ole Western Union cash and you gonna be 'de man to pony it up.  Amazingly she will have all the info on that too.  Cut bait and don't waste your time with her/him.

Would an RW write "I really like you and I wish to be nearby"?  I honestly don't know.

However, I have seen the name/sign pic thing before.  With scammers.  And only with scammers.

This letter talks about her and about "a man", could be anyone.  In her other correspondence, is there anything that uniquely applies to you?

My first scammer wrote me some beautiful letters.  But when I came to my senses I realized that they were generic, they could apply to anyone (and I did fall for the pics, just a bit :P).  There was no "relationship" between us as individuals, the closest was her (very romantic) visions of her future.  Could have slotted in just about any man in those dreams.  That was the main way I figured it out, long before I discovered RWD.  Of course, the visa/ticket money request came right after that realization.

Sometimes we get paranoid with all the tales around here, and it's not impossible for RW to come to the US on their own, but ... I'd expect the money request very soon.

Thanks everyone for the replies. You don't have to worry because I will not send any money. But I would like to see how it plays out. That way it will help me more in the future so as not to waste my time.  Sorry I did not post the picture with my name on it. For some reason it will not let me  paste. What was kind of amazing to me are the pictures she sent me. No slutty ones. Dates go back all the way from 2007 until recently.
Anyways thanks again for the lessons :D

Its words: "Hello Kerry!. Today I was called by my daughter and has told to me,

The old fashioned form letters addressed the man at the beginning and end of the letter. This one addresses Kerry in the middle. But, notice the punctuation error here. Could
that error have occurred when changing the name to Kerry? Kerry is mentioned at the beginning and end like the old form letters.

Ask some specific questions in your letters and see if they seem inserted into a form letter. I only suggest this method since you said you are continuing. As was
mentioned before many times, the "love" thing is very unusual, though it makes you feel good. I had the same feeling in the form letters I received years ago.

Be careful,

Mark

Besides the letter generally reeking as a generic scam letter..

I don't know a single serious RW  that would hold up some sign ,
or send a  copy of her passport

it's called "trying way too hard"

those actions alone scream scam.

I realize jack was playing around ,, :)

but why is anyone concerned wether any photo she sent to kerry is   photoshoped, or not ?
what diference?

.. a scammer often has  photos of her self? and could easily make a sign,
its the intent of the photo and sign , t oagi ntruat thats th egiveaway?

A regular  women ,interested in dating him , isnt going to feel inclined to do so ,she expects your trust.
a scammer needs to set the hook deep enough you don't wiggle free .
Adding the daughter being crazy about kerry  is a great touch for this .

It's not that single RW moms arnt out there , or would write kerry nice letters. .

but
this just scream a set up.

You guys are riot! Seriously.

Turbo, 1 in 50 is way to generous. I would say 1 of 25,000. There is just nothing to to indicate this is one real woman with serious intentions. If there is anything a scammer will put out there, that is a multitude of photos. If he writes a TR that this girl is for real, I for one will be the first to stand and don the dunce hat and proclaim what a fool I am. IMO this isn't even a good scammer and there are some good ones out there.

Actually in 90% of the cases a scammer will not send own pictures, as not many men would fall for a Russian guy.  :P

Remember that a very large part of scams are ran not by lonely starving women, but by professional crime organizations.

It has been two days since I have received a letter. They usually come every other day. So I will see if one comes tomorrow! If not maybe the individual was tired of me not offering any money. We shall see. Would be interested if sms60 got a response!!
