Firstly, copy everything. Doesn't hurt to make 2 copies of every single thing. I would recommend you send her the originals but, as far as I know it doesn't really matter. The most important thing is that she has a packet in case they ask her for something which they might but, likely will not.

I'm not sure what is in the packet they send her but, it won't be everything you submitted with your K-1 application. Get her the entire (or copy) of everything you submitted asap. It is important that she is familiar with everything there.  For some it might be overkill but, leave no stone unturned is my mantra.

Good luck!

"The Packet" is usually nothing more than some forms for her to fill out and a set of instructions. Where to go for her medical, and what needs to be translated from Russian into English for the embassy, as examples.  She fills it out and sends it back to the embassy. They in turn respond with packet 4 which contains her interview date. It contains nothing that you submitted in your 129 submission. You should give her a copy of everything you did submit, for her to take to her interview. This should also include any further correspondence, travel docs, photos, etc.... to show your relationship has continued from the date of your submission to the present. Also another 'letter of intent'. And your affidavit of support. This is all important.

Has your 129 been approved already?

When interview time comes, maybe you could be there w/her...?

Go to visajourney.com. You can find the answers to your questions. You do not have to wait on packet 3 or 4. Everything that you need can be downloaded. Has your application been approved here and sent to Kyiv yet? Have you called for an interview yet? On that website are guides that tell you everything you need to know. I am still waiting on my approval, but we are slowly getting everything together now.

Thanks for the reply's and advice. Yes, the I-129f has been approved. Received letter from NVC (April 23) that packet is being sent to Kiev in one week. I am sending her all the info that is noted and additional as you guys have suggested.I also see that it requires her birth certificate which I assume must be translated into English. Thanks again. I will keep all updated. Rich

Trying to call embassys can be a hassle, especially with the time difference. You can call the Department of State (DOS) at 202-663-1225 8:30-5:30PM EDT and they can give you quite a bit of information. They can tell you if the info from NVC arrived and when, interview dates, etc.. Electronic version of your applications can be transmitted in one day, buy most embassys will not react to anything until they receive all the hard copeies which can take a bit longer. Dont rush. You can go to Visa journey and start to compile some of the data she will need, such as police reports, but wait until you get your packets from Kiev before sending anything back. Some embassys use different versions of forms and sometimes different instructions. You need to send back the ones they sent you.

Everything in a different language must be translated by someone who is certified to do so. You probably know that but I just wanted to mention it. My wife is a US citizen but I still have some extra copies of the documents. It doesn't hurt to make 5 copies of everything.

Hi all, I apologize for not updating since last response. My fiance had her interview Sept 1 in Kiev. All was good except they asked for my pasport entry stamp to Ukraine from last visit, additional support of e-mails and phone logs. She paid for the overnight service and was told she did not have to return. I emailed all the necesarry docs. They finally contacted her Oct 1 and asked her to return Oct 13 because of a missed signature. She waited and received the visa in hand Oct 15. Headed to Fla. Nov. 2. Hope this helps any members

Thanks, all is going well.Arrived Nov 2. Please note that for those who are interested she did not receive a WAD stamp upon entry at JFK even with a request letter for one. I had read that was possibly the only entry point in US that was issuing this on I-94

No the I-94 is what they stamped when my wife went through Houston. A friendly word of advice, do not let anything happen to that I-94. They are a major PITA to replace. The Customs guy told my wife to hang on to it. They took so long through customs we barely made it to our connecting flight. Once on the plane and in the air, my wife discovered she didn't have the I-94. The hoops we jumped through  >:(
