I personally don't use agencies at all anymore, but here's some good rules of thumb when you look at these sites:

1.  The honest agencies are usually local and only handle one to three cities.  They girls have all physically come into the agency office at some point.  Agencies that have girls in cities all over the place are usually scams.

Two exceptions to this are Elena's models (which is mostly legit) and Blue Sapphires (which is a loosely-affiliated network of mostly honest agencies).

2.  There's a physical street address in the FSU and real phone number on the web site for every city that the agency does business.

I took a look at "Dream-Marriage.com" and it just screams out "scam" to me.

Try Ukraine, "The" Ukraine disappeared from vocabulary a few decades ago. Most Ukrainians don't appreciate "The" prefix now. ;)

I have had a lot of spam from Dream Marriage and always considered it a scam agency but I don't have any first hand experience with it.

Lugansk has a bad reputation.  It is for scam agencies not scamming women.  I have been there and found a number of sincere women.  Personally, some guys avoid it but if I were in the searching stage I might be more tempted to target it a bit just because there are a lot of guys who avoid it which means less competition.  There are a few good agencies there.

I would say step one for you should be to decide what method you want to use to find women.  Do you want to use agencies or web sites for example?   I would suggest as well that you mostly try to avoid Kiev and Odessa.  If you trip over a great woman from one of those cities fine but I would concentrate my search on other places.   If you want to use web sites, Elena's would be an excellent choice and Merry Dating, Bride.ru and freepersonals.ru would be some of the other good choices.

I can't remember all the agencies I used in Ukraine but Cindy Agency was decent and KhersonGirls has a good reputation.

Another option to consider would be to go on one of Jack's tours.   I would avoid the big agency tours.  I have done three and they are a terrible way to meet a prospective wife.  Jack's tour on the other hand is good and the education you get is worth the price of admission.

I/O is correct.  You should not call it "the" Ukraine.  It is Ukraine.   Don't sweat it though.  I have heard newscasters who should know better make the same mistake and the first few years I wondered around in the dark in this persuit I called it "the Ukraine" myself.  You don't go to "the France", or "the Germany" and the same applies to Ukraine.

So far so good, plenty of good advice before my trip to Ukraine. (deleted the the)

The reason for Ukraine and not Russia is Visa Entry Requirements.

If I find someone, then it is by far the easier country to get into, no visa required
and take a prospective wife out of not a whole lot of paper work.

As for what I have to offer, safe secure home etc I spent too much time in office or on the road to find wife before and now all the good ones are gone. etc etc etc

I see (sense) this a lot. Frankly, I think it is not an issue today. Visas to Russia are simple to get and you'll find the paperwork for any woman coming out of either will be the same give or take. It is your country which places the encumbrances, not hers for the most part.

Do you let the possibiliy of finding a wife be determined by the visa policy of a country ? You might as well stay at home then.  ;D
Russian Visa is rather simple to obtain if you meet the requirements, and the paper work to leave the country is not worse than other FSU countries and getting easier all the time. With the latest treaty European relatives of Russians can obtain a free 5-year visa, the Birtish Embassy has the best information on this.

Spending a lot of time in office or on the road can be a deal breaker. Make sure that you have the possibility to be a family man.

No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Shadow and I/O suppliers of great wisdom, :clapping:

There is a visa waiver for Europeans into Ukraine not Russia and for some reason  bringing a lady out of the Ukraine is far far far easier
I looked into this, and my sister is a solicitor (lawyer) the difference in time scale is huge. 10 days from completed paper work received for Ukraine to months for a Russian visa. There are a few strings being pulled on these time frames but thats the response I receive whenever I mention it to people in the know here. :clapping: :clapping:

Time on road the is now over, it was more than a deal breaker for me before, is was a non starter. I now have a nice safe government office job, plenty of holidays and a decent pension scheme.

Keep the info coming please, read a lot of stuff here already and took a look a Jacks site, the more info the better I think

Shadow, what have you been smoking? When do men look in the mirror before starting a relationship? Especially not here. :rolleyes2:

Hi Irish,
just had a quick look though this posting,
I am married to a Ukrainian lady, I have many friends here in Kharkov, the ladies here are alot nicer than all of the Russian ones I've met. There is alot of difference in their way of thinking and customs.
My advise , for lots of reasons, look in Ukraine rather than Russia.
If you want any advise please feel free to contact me about visas, travelling here, scammers and so on,
regards, SJG.

I travelled extensively in Ukraine and Russia during my search and found people pretty much the same. You're a commercial member based in Ukraine so there's no surprise here, but people will call you out for statements like these.

Hi Groovvistk and Facetrock
Your comments have been noted. I am only offering a fellow Englishman some advise if he wants it.
I have experience of the dating scammers in Ukraine, Visa applications for both directions, I have done the 90 day in/out trips and also the Poland Embassy cash Visa trip. I have travelled across Ukraine by train and have driven may times across the country, I have experience to offer about the Police and dealing with local Government. I know many good internet links to help as well.
I wish someone had offered me the same when I first started out, but there are not many English guys living here, just loads that pop in and out. Actually living in a country you tend to learn quite abit more.
I don't need to promote our business, as it has been going very well for the last 9 years !
I see lots of Western guys coming to FSU countries and getting scammed and I am just offering some advise.
Regards SJG.

I think it would be nice for you to share your experience here. I'm sure you could give some great advice.
But the problem is you dont give advice. Your posts read like a commercial.

That is kind of you but for my part, I am more interested in your responses to the above questions, both for my personal interest and more importantly, for the benefit of readers who are searching. I am married to a Russian who's best friend (locally here) is a Mathematics Professor's (form Kharkov) wife. I don't see so many fundamental differences between the two women but perhaps there is a lot I am not seeing?

I am more than happy to share experiences, I have already written lots on this site.
When guys have a specific question, simply PM me directly, no problems. Lots of guys from this forum have already done this directly.
I don't think it is a good idea for me to just write about everything that goes on here on a day to day basis, incase you and others think I'm just trying to advertise, that NOT what I'm about.
Sadly I dont have time to do a daily blogg, but as I said, I'm more than happy to answer any questions or try to find out information from this end for anyone if they just ask.

My wife's close friend and confidant is a Ukrainian from Sumy living in a town 50 miles away. Putting them side by side and listening to them and watching their interaction, one would think they could have been neighbors all their life maybe even sisters. My wife is from Tomsk.
