2012, I'll fall in line happily & wish you well with this new relationship...

I've got 2 adopted daughters plus a stepdaughter - if I can ever offer
you some personal experience privately, you have my number.

For now, though, yes - keep your distance so as to protect them emotionally.

So I have a HUGE surprise for my new lady friend this weekend.. one of my best friends is a member of the "Black Cowboys Association" and they are performing this Saturday as a part of the Juneteenth celebrations in Oakland.  Its an amazing show and a really interesting piece of American culture hardly anyone knows about.  I love the Black Cowboys!

So.. Potap and Nastya show at Cocomo Friday night.. organic farmers market saturday morning to get picnic stuff.. black cowboys rodeo.. then across the GG Bridge to the waterfalls and picnic on top of Mt. Tam overlooking the whole Bay.. dinner on the beach in Stinson.. and a moonlight walk across the GG Bridge.. should be amazing.  :)  Bagels and lox planned for Sunday morning.. Sunday afternoon we will go to the cannabis cup and then pop over to the East Bay to meet my Mom.. I will deliver her medicine since it is really getting difficult for her to go out and get it herself and she doesn't like strangers making the delivery.

And Billy.. just for you.. my lady friend has agreed to smoke a joint with me on top of Mt. Tam in your honor.. she said and I quote.. "that man is fool"  She usually doesn't smoke but she was so offended by your comments that she decided it was worth trying California's best to see if was more agreeable than the ditch weed they smoke in Ukraine.

I think the exact words she used was "ochen durak" so my quote might be a little off..

Hey Vaughn.. thanks!  I might take you up on that..

I remind you guys.. I have twice been in serious to very serious relationships with women who had children.  I know how to navigate this path.

Additionally, there are other factors in play, that I am not going to discuss in detail here.. that insure for the time being that a certain emotional distance will be maintained.. no matter how much either party wishes to proceed faster than is wise.. there is a "restrictor plate" that was put in place before this started and I am not willing to remove until the pre-set time limit has been achieved..

Both of us are very much in a position to live in and enjoy the moment and we are greedily doing so in each other's company.  Round about the end of summer and the end of the  "work travel season" things will have sorted themselves out completely.

Keyword is.. transparency.. and said transparency has provided exceptionally unexpected results.. being as cryptic as possible.. competition is a good thing and being in demand creates even more demand.. "its raining its pouring and all the girls are adoring"  :)

Had I known what I now know.. wow.. so many things that might could have should have.. but.. better later than never..

Life is sweet!

I'll keep my mouth shut so she won't keep smoking dope. I'll be doing it for the 3 yo daughter's sake.

No...........you don't. We none of us do.

ok I see your point.. my point is I am not going to put myself or her kid into a situation that might be harmful.  If the relationship progresses to a level where I think there is no option except to declare unlimited love and devotion it would obviously mean accepting everything she brings to the relationship.  I will cross that bridge if I come to it.

In the meantime.. what a lovely road to travel.  :)

Why are you still here in my thread??  Do you really have so desperate a need to make your useless points?  Quite frankly, if there was ever someone that could use a bong hit.. Billy, it would be you.

I have heard there are some pockets of culture in Kiev.. I have yet to encounter them.. However.. I ran into this site today from Odessa and I suspect there might be some interesting characters there.. this looks like something worth attending without any consideration to pretty girls.. :)

That's probably the most likely scenario!  Or maybe someone had a fishin' pole casting a Twinkie nearby!  ;D

Glad to read this upbeat report, 2012.  Seems like you're on top of it and having fun.

I don't want to open a can of worms on the bud or not to bud question.  But, I can say that while I've seen more people who fall into the Instant A-Hole, Just Add Alcohol category than I care to count, I've yet to see anyone toke a doob and get into a fight.  Just doesn't happen... well, unless you snatch the bag of Doritos away from them. And then the worst you'll get is "Heeeeeeeyyy, don't bogart the chips, man! Those are mine!"  And heck, with the advent of mobile phones, there aren't even arguments now over who's gonna get up to order the pizza.  8)

I stopped smokin', that anyway, over 25 years ago, but from about '78 to '81 I'm pretty sure my photo was next to any article on the Columbian GNP.

Question for you

You stated that you're going up to Mt. Tam and she is going to smoke some wacky tabacky, I presume you are going to smoke with her in a "bonding" moment.  So how are you getting up there? Muni? Driving? Magic carpet?

I really don't care what others smoke, inhale or inject...until their actions put innocent people at risk.  You've made your views on using various substances well known, But I would hope you would be responsible enough not the smoke and drive.

Although in my 15 years doing this line of work I have never had to fight with a "pothead" I have had to scrape a number of them off of the side of the road after wrapping their car around a redwood (or pole).  It doesn't make you violent, but it does slow the reflexes and cloud a persons judgment.  If you're using a taxi or public transportation good for you, however if you are driving, then you're an idiot and I hope you don't hurt any innocent people.

And here's a song I used to listen to every Friday at 5pm on 104.5 while rolling thru Hunters point-enjoy

What you've never had, you never miss and as for the wicked weed or anything of that nature, well, let's say I can't miss any of it. Notwithstanding, I did smoke tobacco, heavily at times for 25 years so I am not claiming to be any purist.

Dave, I manage a taxi company and as such, we see "quite a bit" in a conservative town / city of around 100 000 people. I can assure you with all integrity you are so far up the creek with your comments it isn't (really it isn't) funny. A hour on the bong or whatever in and of itself may not cause an issue and for the most part, as you say, "hey mun it's all cool". Likewise, a couple of glasses for the most part produces the same or similar result. But, and here is the kicker........give the clown who's been bashing the bong a couple of glasses of alcohol and then you can and very often do have an ugly result.

Of the serious assaults and or other infringements against drivers (remember this forms a tiny fraction of what actually happens after nightclubs close etc), wherein I have been involved downloading security camera footage from cabs (Needs to reach a fairly high level before that happens) etc, all (Over the last 3 years), yes all, once prosecuted and the factors are tabled, reveal a mixture of dope and booze.

Personally, whilst I am a very light drinker and have never touched dope of any sort, shape or form, I really don't care what someone does in the privacy of their own company but I do care when it effects others. Unlike Billy, I'm not here to preach on what Eric for example should or shouldn't do with, in front of or beside his RW but I will express concern when I see the need and as such I don't think your comments are particularly well thought out nor do I think they are well infomed even if only based solely on what I have seen in one small conservative town which, yes, would also fit very ordinarily in most any part of USA.

That's my last vice as well.  I'll tip an occasional beer if the mood strikes (seems to only strike when I travel to FSU though).  I may have consumed a total of 6 pack in the last year.  I'm just not into anything which alters the mind.  Went through a phase as a teen and moved on.

I/O, it was (much) more of a joke than any real commentary on any actual position I might have on the use of narcotics.  Some jokes fly in certain circles, don't in others.  Some hot button topics are going to draw fire.  I just don't see much of a need to apologize for a wise crack. If some good discussion comes from it, hey cool.

nice to meet you and find another kindred spirit here on RWD who is not afraid.. :)

"Afraid!"  Do you think that the reason?  I understand that society's laws do not mean much to you, yet there are reasons for them.

I enjoyed weed when younger.  However, after my sons were born in the 1980s, weed disappeared from my house.

Smoking in front of kids is irresponsible, not for disputed health reasons, but for reasons of good parenting.  Legally, the police consider it child abuse.

And the Bear, who has had children die in his arms, has a valid point.

To echo Billy's question, would you stop using it at home if you married a woman with young children?

Not everyone gets a feeling of euphoria from cannabis.  It gave my ex-wife (the one before the RW wife) anxiety and paranoia.  My RW did not like it either, preferring alcohol.

Gator,

Can only agree.. as much as I enjoyed in the long gone past, am happy that I eventually grew out of it and did not 'pass it on' to my kids.

I just got back from another awesome time spent in Sacto..

So.. the highlights this weekend were..

The lesson in California history at the Sutters Fort State Park.. (in 97 degree sun)  and the highlight of that was when one of the docents whipped out some vintage Russian shawls from the 1840's for my friend to pose in on the covered wagon display.. that was over the top cool and the photos of her in the shawl with the wide brimmed pioneer hat holding the musket are awesome!

Afterwards we went to "Old Sacramento" on the river front and made some photos by the old paddle wheeler and wandered around.  I spotted a low rider parked on one of the streets and hurried her over there to check it out.. she didn't understand what was special about it.. and then I saw this Chicano dude standing in the shade and I knew it must be his ride.. so I approached him and asked him to bounce that baby around a bit for my girl.. he was happy to oblige..

So.. when he walks over he goes.. "hey, I know you!" and sure enough they do know each other.. he works at her English school where she studies!  small freaking world!

So.. "Dave" recommended we try "Joe's Crab Shack" for dinner.. it was about time to eat so we decided to give it a go..

its one of those noisy sort of places where the servers sing happy birthday and there is all kinds of crab related junk hanging everywhere..

we ordered a 3 way appetizer, a cajun style king crap in a steam pot and a caesar salad with coconut shrimp and strawberry vinagrette.  I had them bring a honey mustard too and the strawberry on the side.  She got a margarita in a mason jar and I had a lemonade.

So.. you know you don't get any utensils in a place like that.. they just give you a thing for crackin the crab.. hahhaha.. and a paper bib and a roll of paper towels.. hahahahaha

she resisted the paper bib.. she literally screamed when the server tied it around her neck..

by the end of the meal .. she said.. "I loved eating with my fingers.. I never did it before.. we have nothing like this in Ukraine"

I am picking her up next Sunday morning to come to SF for the 4th..
