You make drugs legal what will the drug dealers in Mexico do to make money.  There going to do something.  Need to answer what there new business is going to be before making it legal.

Kiev.. they are already experimenting inside Mexico with "tolerance zones" in a lot of big cities.  There are two problems they are trying to address by doing it.. one is the violence in the drug trade and the second is the violent traffic in women.. most of whom are illegal immigrants into Mexico who are trying to get to the USA.  In the last 17-18 years about 100,000 women have been forced into prostitution after being caught on the southern border with Mexico.  It is believed that if these tolerance zones exist and are regulated the violence will be removed from vice oriented crime.  So far there is various degrees of resistance from Catholic groups and other conservative elements but the reality is if Mexico doesn't do something fast the country is going to implode.  Well, it is imploding.

Beyond that.. in the cannabis market the cartels have very little impact inside California.  What you hear about in the national forests etc is a very minor part of the trade.  There is just no reason for it.. and anyone who is "into it" even slightly wouldn't be caught smoking that dirty brown crud the Meshicanos grow that is full of seeds and chemical fertilizers.. only idiots would smoke that and I am not sure there is even anyone in California stupid enough to smoke it.

But what there is in california is a brand new market for high quality LED indoor growing lights.. air filtrations systems.. hydroponic garden systems.. and all sorts of other materials that are needed to grow high grade stuff.  I saw soil at the festival.. hand made soil.. being sold for 50 bucks a kilo.. purified water being sold for 10 bucks a gallon.. this is serious stuff.. people are trying to grow really high grade products with no negative affects and very specific medicinal affects and they are getting better at it with every crop.  its freaking exciting.. as I said in the last post.. I have never seen anything like it.. its a kind of gold rush.. and I suspect will be San Franciscos next gold rush.. :)  times are good.. :)

Yeah God also makes arsenic, abrin, ricin, puffer fish, the golden dart frog and a variety of other "natural" things which you should experiment with in your pursuit of spiritual awakening and expanded consciousness......

Hi Lily!  How is Toronto??? Are you adapting well?  Are you meeting more Russian speaking people or English or parle vous Francais?

Well.. there isn't much to report about Miss Sacto this week so far.. we just have our now usual phone call before bed.. we are trying to work out the logistics for this 4th of July weekend.. I want her to come down to SF because the show here is HUGE.. but.. I have to work on Monday so if she stays the night she is going to stay the day too.. I might just end up going to Sac for the 4th which might be interesting anyway.. people there are about 100% more patriotic.. in SF its all about fireworks and street festival.. in Sac there will be a lot of flag wavers..

A funny thing happened to me today, related to the title of this topic.

I was here in Tahoe, waiting on a giant burrito to be cooked up, and there's a hot, petite, nicely dressed blonde next to me at the salsa counter. She's not my type, but my first thought was "See, there are plenty of pretty women right here it the good ole USA. These guys don't need to go to Russia".

She looked my way so I decided to chat her up a bit.

And of course...

She's Russian...

from the former Soviet Republic of Sacramento.

Just thought I'd share.  :P

Same thing happened to me last week at the paint counter at Home Depot in the former Soviet Republic of Daly City.

Just have to say I've had many similar experiences in Chicagoland - 7 times out of 10 she's FSU (or at least Eastern European).

At least it's not a clean sweep! ;)

Public transit

Are you sick of it and wish you had a car?  or.. are you comfortable riding that way?  Also.. please tell us about your flat or house.. :)  Sorry if I am being nosy but I think it is really interesting to know about your adaptation when you are doing it on your own as opposed to the stories we hear about ladies who come with a husband and have to adapt according to the lifestyle choices of a husband.  :)

By the way.. you are my hero!  I really mean it!  What you are doing is really hard and really exciting and I think it is awesome!  :)

Since I got questioned about certain things in another thread that are related to dating this nice lady in Sacto.. I thought i better make some clarifications of the status of this relationship because there are some other interesting things going on in my life..

I have seen Miss Sacto 3 times.  WE have had a very nice time together each time.  However...

Her situation as a recent immigrant is not conducive to the establishment of a serious relationship at this time.  Her priorities are learning English, finding a job and getting into nursing school.  Her living situation is at the generosity of relatives.  On top of all that she is carrying some pretty heavy baggage relative to the father of her daughter who was left behind in Ukraine and there is no relationship with.

We are enjoying dating each other and developing our friendship.  It is romantic to be sure.. but.. it is absolutely without definitions or limitations.  In other words.. there is absolutely no commitment to exclusivity at this time.  That was a mutual decision.  On her part.. its not because she wants to date other men.. but.. because she is too unsure of her life situation and is determined to stand on her own feet before accepting any deep support from a man.  She tells me this and then covers me with kisses because she doesn't want me to feel she doesn't like me.  She just isn't ready.  My feelings are that if she were ready I would be willing to see about going the next steps.. but.. her "issues" have given me cause to back off a little.

So.. that brings me to where I was prior to meeting her.

So.. that will be a new thread.

A rather strange combination.  Heavy baggage in the absence of a relationship.

 :offtopic:

btw..

you guys know absolutely NOTHING about the medicinal marijuana culture I live in.

Bear.. I don't presume to tell you how to do your job.. so.. why would you even make the comments you made about me going on a hike and smoking a joint?  Hmm... lets see.. first of all the Road and Track issue on smoking weed and driving might be worth reading.. and second.. time between smoking and driving would be about 4 hours.. so.. you tell me.. any risk?  ummm.. I would be more concerned about just being tired and minor dehydration from the hike than from any residual affects.  besides, I only smoke Sativa during the day which is known for sharpening senses and giving energy rather than Indica which is great for falling asleep and what I occasionally smoke if I can't sleep.

I would no sooner smoke weed in front of a child than I would be piss drunk in front of a child.  But hmmm.. how many of you have had a beer in front of a kid?  how many a glass of wine?  You gonna try and tell me that gin and tonic or irish coffee you had in front of a kid is somehow more acceptable?  tsk tsk tsk..

I've been outside CONUS for the last couple of weeks, so my reply is delayed.

Eric  I re-read my post and I didn't see the part where I made accusations about smoking, I was just curious if you were going to be semi responsible or if you were going to have the attitude of "damn it all, I'm a free spirit and I can do what I want"  As I stated-If you want to smoke some Marijuana and watch the sun rise or set then by all means drop in, toke up and tune out.  I am at the point in my life that I don't care what a person does as long as it doesn't affect others.  Unfortunately I don't live in the utopia that you do where everything is sunshine and roses.

Like I have mentioned previously, I lived and worked in San Francisco for years and although I enjoyed the city, it just became to dirty for me (that would be when slick Willie became mayor).  You will probably go on (I might be wrong on this) about me being a ultra conservative and label me as a jack booted knuckle dragging neanderthal nazi thug and you would be seriously off the mark (but I guess it's ok for you to attack others beliefs, but not for them to attack your beliefs).

I notice that you seem to enjoy being the "maverick" and are quick to snub others that don't think the same way as you, but in all of your time here your song has not changed.

I've been up for 30+ hours dealing with some work stuff, so I apologize if my post is some what discombobulated. I think you and I should just agree to disagree on a number of issues.

As far as you doing my job, I seriously doubt you would be able to handle it.

Good luck with your future endeavors in St. Petersburg and I sincerely hope you find that special someone that you can share your life's experiences with.

Relax Bear.. You already know I think you are one of the good cops.

You are the one who keeps bringing up "knuckle dragging" so it makes me wonder if maybe you have some self esteem issues relative to your career.  That is not a dig.. just an observation.

I dont get wasted and drive, though, I am 100% sure its not even close to the same risk as alcohol.  But, I am not interested in taking the chance, nor getting a DUI.. and by the way.. did I mention (100 times I think) I ONLY DRIVE WHEN I HAVE NO CHOICE FOR WORK

what do you think about cops that kill innocent people and get off with "involuntary manslaughter"?

mods.. move it if it catches fire.. thanks.. :)

So I was about to drop Miss Sacto.. this is why...

She got flaky last week and cancelled our date pretty much at the last minute.. excuse.. "too many problems" meaning her life is kind of upside down...

That was Saturday.  Last night, Sunday night, she called 3 times and I didn't answer.  I finally called her back after midnight.  Her first words..

"I thought you break with me and don't want to talk to me"

I said well.. yes, its wrong that you cancelled our date.  I don't know if that is normal in Ukraine, but, for an American that is very bad behavior and if you are an American girl I will not call you back.  But, because you called, and you are new in my country, I will try one more time but you must promise not to do that again.

She agreed and promised.  Then, for half an hour she told me how I am such a good man and Ukrainian men are not like that and she doesn't know how to understand it all and that she feels so lucky to know me.

So.. who the heck knows.. its definitely a different set of parameters for dating.
