Given that Sculpto was intent on marrying a woman from Russia, I do wonder whether that makes him a "bride hunter"? So, Sculpto, does that mean in your opinion that you are a special breed of loser? No insult intended, just curious as to how you fit in your own definitions and whether your opinion applies to you.

Nonetheless, have fun in St. Petersburg.

my bad.. FP and Misha.. I wrote incorrectly.. and misquoted myself.. mea culpa.. and there may be a little over reaction on my part from even having to respond to Kuna.. trying to have an open mind about certain people and finding myself on the defensive.. might lead to poor writing/editing on my part.. no excuses.. just is what it is.. so.. apologies for the drama.

Anyway.. Misha.. I am not intent on marrying anyone at this point in time.  I am intent on having an interesting vacation...

It is what it is, a mistake and misquote on your part. Now please continue back on topic.

Sculpto,

I understand your enthusiasm about RW visiting you on a their WMVM trip.  A RW has arrived at my house for the next few weeks.

My visitor arrived on a WOVO trip; I would have never let her in if I knew she had WMVM plans.   :D

Have a great time in St. Petersburg.  I have two solid recommendations:

MUSEUM

The Siege Museum is a must see.  It has many exhibits of everday life.  None explained in English and none needed to understand the depth of the Russian ability to survive and not give up.  As an example, study the three photos taken during the siege of the same woman (see below).

http://www.saint-petersburg.com/museums/museum-defense-siege-leningrad.asp

GUIGE

I have visited St. Petersburg three times and each time I retained for a reasonable fee a RW to guide me through the Hermitage.  She is so good that the US State Department uses her for their red carpet visitors.  You will skip the long lines with her, and she knows her stuff.

Dude, the only thing I have to say is you are going to LOVE St Petersburg!  It is the most beautiful city I have ever seen.  And no matter how much time you plan on being there, you will kick yourself for missing so many things.

That is why I am going back in 2 weeks.  And I still doubt I will have enough time to see it all.  So trip 3 is already on the brain.   :D

Piter is my favorite and truly a world class city but, I would suggest making a trip to some other parts of Russia as well. There is a lot of Russia you won't find in Piter

True, but it has been a life long dream to see Russia.  Piter was just the first stop.  It is just one step at a time.

I am getting very interested in Karelia.. the wooden architecture is over the top.. it looks like the excursion will fit in the budget.  The question now is.. will I go alone.. or will I find someone to accompany me..

so how I do I find a russian girl with a particular interest in antique wooden buildings?

And it so happens.. there is a wooden architecture museum in Novgorod also.. and mineral water.. that may be part two..

Kuna..  Bride hunting is absolutely 100% off the table.

In fact, I am of the opinion that bride hunters are a special breed of loser.

I will probably be hated even more for saying it.. but.. I can tell you and everyone else that my communications with MANY ladies who ARE NOT in any way associated with the MOB and many of whom were not even found on dating sites... there is a backlash beginning... I will address that in detail the next post.

I am engaged in international cultural travel with the side benefit of dating locals.  I did it in Mexico for 20+ years.. did it in France for a few years.. and now I am doing it in St. Petersburg for the first time.

HAHAHAHA... Loser???  Guilty as charged - except I met my wife through a dating site.

A beautiful wife,  a happy marriage and two gorgeous little boys who are so excited every time I come home from work.  I love laying in bed on a cold morning with them just listening to the youngest making rasberries (his new noise) and our eldest asying, "I love Mama, I love Daddeeee."   I never feel like a loser Eric,  never.

I've not been around much lately.  I noticed your single again...  I wonder if you could point me towards the thread with all the details.  It's not about gloating,  I'm just curious oif the end was according to everyone's predictions. I suspect it wowuld have been because it was so obvious.

I wish you would stop attacking people.  I wish you could develop the character which allowd you to listen to and learn from men who make you look like a boy.  I wish you would really seize the opportunities you have rather than blowing them out as smoke.

I know you won't believe this but I genuinely wish you no ill.  I hope you find contentment in whatever you do and I hope you don't cause others too much harm on the way.

Now come on... where's that thread?  :P

I made a 2-day trip to Karelia on my own in a rental car from Helsinki a long time ago (1977). The roads were almost deserted, never even seen the advertised deer :(. A small lake, a woods, another small lake...it did get boring, eventually. Spent the night at a nondescript farm, where I had to resurrect my limited German because the old lady there didn't speak any other foreign language. Ended up at Saavonlinna (you could rent the castle for your wedding, then ;D).

cool photos Sandro.  I am focused on Kizhi Pogost.  This kind of wood architecture is really amazing and is in fact quite relevant for me.  I can actually justify this trip to the tax man because I will go to Kizhi and the wood architecture museum on Novgorod.  It is legitimate research.  Especially given the insulating properties of wood buildings and the renewable resource of trees and the fact that I live in a city of wood buildings.

Gator..

There are several RWs that are supposed to visit this summer.  Some I think are WMVM and one I am for sure is not.

Three are already in the states.. one is in New York for now.. one is someplace between New York and SF and i suspect will show up any day and the third is in LA.  The third is the most interesting to discuss though because she represents what I think might be a new kind of hazard.. pro-dater turned pro-traveler.. I will explain..

So.. this lady who is quite exceptionally beautiful contacted me for information about San Francisco... staying here.. job opportunities etc.. she dangled an attractive carrot of attention and I gave her some information and offered to help upon arrival.  However.. instead of arriving here as she said she would.. she went to Los Angeles where apparently a man has paid for an apartment for her.. she has been in LA almost a month now but still isn't working.  Her page updates with tons of photos from all the excursions... but.. she continues to write me to ask about things in SF hinting that she is coming and wants to see me and that this man in LA is "strange" ..

I haven't shut down the communications because I am curious if there is a "game" behind her actions or if she is just selfish or if there is some other unconsidered thing going on.  But.. its clearly not a cut and dry situation.

Actually, there was just ONE Karelia (Finnish Karjala) until its eastern part was ceded to the USSR after the 'Winter War of 1939-40' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karelia) ;).

Prostitute maybe Sculpto???

You can't knock a hooker with good intentions.  Quesiton is,  would you rent an apartment for her?

You've promoted the idea of dating hookers here in the past.  Maybe this time you can give it a go and let us know how it goes...

Why am I not surprised you would reach that kind of conclusion?  My guess would be basing your assessment on your own experience with ladies of the night and therefore you recognized something in the description... you now "birds of a feather"  Good call Kuna.. I am gonna concede victory on that one.. maybe you would like her profile information and phone number?  I mean you really can't match the tough guy image you like to project if you are just Dad and husband.. you need a kept mistress on the side.. and that girl is really hot. I think you should go for it.

What a stupid response...  Bong on weed-boy,  bong on.

You're the one that brags about your friendships with hookers...  what wonderful people they are...  advising men to date them and chase them...  sending others to the same miserable outcomes you've become famous for.  You really need to grow up!

I think the assessment is fair,  and let's be honest,  I've seen more truth in your situations than you have in the past right?  Shall we waste our time going back seeing how many times you were warned about doing stupid things?

Eric,  you need to understand most people wish you no ill.  We hope you straighten youself out.  Your recent attacks on me are unprovoked.  In your St Pete thread I encouraged you to go,  advised you on things to see,  and supported your decision to take a rest from looking for a relationship for a while. You respond by calling me (and one presumes other married men) "losers."

You've obviously been through a lot with "A", and of course it's hard to acknowledge such an error of judgement when SO many implored you not to make the crazy decisions you were making.

Anyway,  you can accuse me, a happily married man, of screwing hookers or having mistresses if you like.  It's such a childish accusation and so indicative of your mental and emotional capacity.

I honesly hope you sort your stuff out...  you have no idea of the joy you are missing out on.

Old arguments from past disagreements on both sides.  Can we forget, if not forgive the past?

And this isn't third grade... I don't want to hear "He said this first" or "He did this to me first".

Be the bigger man and walk away from it.  It does no one any good to keep going back to the same old thing.

Kuna..

I am going to make one effort to be reasonable with you.

You don't know what happened with "A" and it is none of your business, not anyone else's, unless I choose to share it.  I have not chosen to do so.  Speculate all you want.  I could care less about your opinion.

Now, in regards to this thread.  You polluted the thread and you got sarcasm in return.  Seeker, who I respect a lot has asked that things remain civil.  So, I am giving you the choice.  Keep your comments on topic, without insult.  That is all, no threats implied, or suggested or otherwise.  Just keep your comments polite and on topic and there will be no problems at all.

And frankly, for someone who claims to be so happy, you surely don't sound like it.  Happy people do not have to prove anything, least of all try to make other people feel bad.  So, when it comes to "revelations" sorry to tell you but yours are far more revealing than you want to think.

Macy's ritual
« Reply #49 on: July 17, 2010, 02:14:48 PM »
It seems every time I am about to head across the ocean I seem to spend some time in Macy's a day or two before.  Today was Macy's day and I picked a good day to go because it was a "1 day sale"

So.. while i was in the store I started talking with a lady and she was quite the shopper and happened to have a coupon for an additional 20% off.

So.. I scored.. big time!

3 pairs of Kenneth Cole slacks.. one Calvin Klein dress shirt.. two Alfani sport shirts.. 2 leather belts, one dress one casual.. and a pair of KC leather walkings shoes.  Non sales price total $900+.. I got out for $280 with tax.. so.. I am pretty happy about that.  The best part.. they didn't comfiscate the 20% coupon card so I am going to go back tomorrow and get a few extra presents for the ladies.  :)

I do need to start calculating these Macy's trips into my overall travel budget though.  It seems unavoidable and the truth is some of the nicest clothes I own are a result of buying for FSU trips..

BTW.. the center of San Francisco was absolutely PACKED today.  Beautiful girls everywhere and it was very warm for a change so short shorts and tiny little tops.. didn't hear a lot of Russian for a change but the French are all over the place and I had a very nice conversation with a cutie from Switzerland who was at the end of a backpacking trip across the States.  On days like today I really wonder why I am crossing the ocean.. so much opportunity that I never really think about but is right here.
