I decided to post this to the Married section, because it is about how a wife may create her husband's reputation among his colleagues by her own behavior.

This clips with comments were found with the well-known Russian blogger Natalia Radulova. Ms. Radulova referred to the youtube clip which shows Mrs. Tatyana Rogozina, wife of the Russia's Ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin.  Tatyana performs her 'Gipsy Song' for the high-ranking participants at the Ditchley conference organized by the East-West Institute.

They say that every time Mr. Rogozin gives a reception, his wife always sings or even dances a bit for guests.

Tatyana's hobby is apparently amateur singing, so she even recorded a video clip, that also shows her husband assisting her a little.

My question to you American guys would be, would this singing performance of Tatyana during the conference influence the Ambassador's Rogozin reputation in rather positive or negative way?  Would her performance occasionally be mentioned in tabloids, what would the journalists imply by showing it?

I think positive. It is obvious she is living in her own world and her husband is with her in this. Not such a bad thing. Not at all. I think most people would think delightful and they would be a good couple to get to know.

I doubt much would be made or anything at all by the tabloids. They are too busy with Lindsey Lohan and whether Miley Cyrus will turn into another Lohan or Spears.

As the saying goes...........there is a time and place for everything.

Not knowing the "normal" customs for these type of events its hard to say.

My opinion is something seems out of place. Maybe the word is "uncomfortable" ?

Nothing like self promotion.

But my understanding is that "Anything Goes" does not really mean "anything" if that "anything" violates the TOS.

Not a big deal,, but i agree with SMS that it just seems a tad out of place..
but I wouldn't know in diplomatic circles..
.

it just doesn't strike me as "time and place"

she has heard of karaoke bars ?      ;D

as far as the video,, why not?
if its her dream to do one?

but yes if he was high enough profile here ,the "rags" would have a field day with it.
As maxx mentioned ,they are looking for a bit trashier stuff though,
and  on higher profile ,or higher interest persons for their target audience.

Now if  Princess Diana had released a singing video like this, or performed for the Queen?

What effect? The Ambassador's reputation will be wholly dependent upon his performance for the task at hand as opposed to his wife's entertainment value.

I personally think it's a bit over-the-top unless she performs strictly as a result of other dignitaries' requests.

I've seen a tape of Linda Ronstadt performing for guests' at the State Capitol when Jerry Brown was governor and the media didn't make a fuss over it, but then Ms. Ronstadt is/was a professional singer and much loved by many at the time.

Sorry Lily, I think the Ambassador need to hire her a better singing coach if he's going to make this a habit during his tenure.

I see one man holding a drink.  Entertainment and a "gypsy song" would be appropriate for a happy hour or evening meeting after the normal business meeting.   Definitely positive.
