WARM WISHES!
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:47:32 PM »
No question.  Just using this place to express Warm Wishes to all the Russian women (and the RWD men who love them).

While I have no question, you may ask why the term Warm Wishes?   The answer:  http://www.manatt.com/holidaycards/2010/

I do have a question for RW:  Do you find this understandable versus a heart felt Merry Christmas?

Wow, what a great card for those in legal profession! Thank you Gator!

It could be better without a sound, I think. Not convenient to play in the office, you know ;)

And I'd wish I could insert my name just instead of 'sender' on the last page.

Do you have anything appropriate to send to Canadian business colleagues? preferably without sound.

Lily, I think that card is making fun of the fact many businesses will not say "Merry Christmas", but rather, "Happy Holidays".  Because "Christmas" may offend non Christians, notwithstanding the fact the US is still a predominantly Christian nation, and businesses' sales are tied to this particular Christian holiday.  No one is buying their kids XBox games for New Year.

Gator is old enough to remember when saying "Merry Christmas" was no big deal.  I'll bet he even remembers school "Christmas" concerts.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Of course!  In fact, when in junior high school I went Christmas caroling with the youth from my church.  We filled a whole bus, and made several stops around town.  That was a "feel good" time.

Remember school concerts?  They happen today.  When I took my Cossack woman to the Tampa airport, we got there early because she believes in early.  So we had time to kill.  While drinking Starbucks, behold!   Christmas music.  A middle school band and chorus were giving a Christmas concert in the terminal.  It was a joy. And she enjoyed it more than I did.

For your liberal colleagues:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011 but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that  America  is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only  America  in the  Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

For Your Republican colleagues:

Quote
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Public schools here have "Winter Concerts", not "Christmas" concerts.  They don't sing any Christmas songs.  Catholic schools here have Christmas concerts.  My kids all attended Catholic schools at the elementary level, though we're not Catholic.
