Welcome to RWD dflux! There are more that are shamming and scamming than those that aren't. I could tell you a few "not" to use or perhaps recommend one to use. It depends really, on what you hope to achieve and how much are you willing to do yourself?

Avoid any site where you must pay by the letter.   My favorite was Elena's Models.  There are other good sites as well.

Some others may be able to add to the list but Merry Dating, Bride.ru, freepersonals.ru are a few that seem to be well liked.  I had the platinum membership at Elena's and thought it was a great value.  I met my wife through them so I am biased.

The only one I've used personally, that I would recommend is EM. Do the paid membership. It is about $100 bucks if I recall for 6 months and 50 contacts.

It depends on you actually... so:
- How good do you know your way around the internet ?
- Are you able to book travel, hotels etc by yourself ?
- Do you have a basic understanding of Russian, or experience in non-native languages ?
- Do you have plenty of time to put in to the search ?

All of these are important to know what would be the best for you. If you are having a good mind and plenty of time, use as free a site as you can find. However if you have more money as time, use agency services.

I am different than many here....I don't worry about which site is better or worse, it depends a lot more on the 2 eyes staring at the screen. PPL's or monthy charges or free sites...I don't see big differences. People here always bring up EM but I never saw a difference than with fiance.com. Funny how girls 'use' up the EOI's and stop after first letter or write when my time ends on EM. Had my best luck with freepersonals, globalladies and anastasia. After a while you get a real good sense of where the girl is coming from. If I had to give advice on something....is find a city or area to concentrate on and immerse yourself...mine was odessa and chisinau, what a difference to meet girls through friends of friends.

Even the scam sites however, your chances are good they you are only a mark and they target your money. Your chances of actually meeting a sincere woman on such a site is very low

Faux Pas.....there are so many different variables in question, from what guy is looking for, the age difference, values, personality, looks, intelligence....ect. Seems the beauty of these girls turn some men into dreamers. I do tend to look for a younger women than most ( for possibility of a child) but at same time it is close to the age I date at home, which I think is important.

One major difference is that as yet you have obviously not been successful. Thus, looking at it objectively, I would question whether you have much of a realistic sense of what actually works for finding an actual mate. There is overwhelming evidence that the pay-per-letter sites have a long track record of trying to maximize their income at the expense of those who seek a real relationship--to keep a man writing for "pursuing someone 3-5 years" for example, as your profile states about you.

For a newcomer, it is best to carefully consider the people making the suggestions and give somewhat greater weight to those with actual experience that has resulted in a successful outcome.

I am constantly amazed at the number of guys who offer advice based on such limited experience.

David....you know very little about me to make such statement. To let you know, I was in a 1.5 year relationship with a girl from Odessa, it didn't work out, before that in one for almost a year. I CHOOSE to take my time to get to know a girl,
if it doesn't work out so be it( just like a girl at home). If I chose to I could have been married already. I hopefully want to avoid having a "D".....

By the way.....what to you is successful? Being married? There is  alot more to that than...I have many friendships in Ukraine, Moldova and guys I have met(in pursuit of FSU girls) in this journey. To me successful is being happy and always finding something new in life!!!

There are different things at play here. Turning 30, your midlife crisis and all that accompanies it still is far away. However women are developing a bit faster, and 30 is the time they realise that their possibility to have children will not last forever (men are different ). Also if they are divorced, this is the time they grow out of the party scene and start to feel lonely.
Why does it become difficult ? The rich guys will look for women under 25 as arm candy. The poor guys who are available will have too much baggage in general. To find a decent non-married guy is going to be hard.

My intuitive opinion is that RW in the age range of 30-45 are not as lonely as they might lead you to believe, and certainly not as lonely as the agency hype would suggest. 

I believe the more accurate statement is that RW in this age group  do not receive the same amount of attention as they did in their 20s, and perhaps most men are more interested in sex rather than a relationship.  Nevertheless,  the 30-45 yo RW still have opportunities and choices.

Have to be very brief,  attractive, in-shape 30 to 45 yo R/UW do have many
opportunites and choices if she so elects.   Attractive, shapley Rus/Ukr women who would like a foreign husband and who do make their profiles available to various sources, ie, agencies, personal websites, personal publications, etc, will generally find
men who have interest to meet them.

Now, as hard, cold and blunt as this may sound,  R/UW women who are not all so attractive, women who are overweight, will get very little, if any, attention from foreign men.  These women's best chances will be with a local man.
