Hopefully my second leg of this quest will demonstrate the opposite side of the coin, and show a much more sensible, restrained and successful way to go about meeting a woman

Having just read your other tale, its sounds more like 'two sides of the same coin' to me. I don't get it.

Neo, I know you have a lot of experience in Ukraine, but .... has it all been with agency girl run arounds like these stories?

I've made quite a few 'visit one' trips over the years. In a typical meeting, I'm greeted at the airport (be it midnight or 4 AM) with a big smile and the woman I meet has made every effort to make sure I feel welcome and comfortable (champagne and chocolate on arrival, home cooked meal and stocked fridge waiting at my rented flat, small gifts for my family etc.) Usually she takes the week off and spends as much time as possible with me, introducing me to friends and family, showing off her city, in general being a wonderful host. It's just common courtesy and hospitality, which I find Russia to be full of.

So it makes me wonder... haven't you had any of these types of (more normal) experiences?

I read these type of stories and feel like you guys are travelling to another planet. Do agencies just attract these type of women that don't even have common manners, or do they create them?

Jooky, I'm with you in that I have had a number of VO trips to the FSU and the lady always shows up and always takes time for you.  Even in my one that was considered a crash-n-burn, the lady still took time for me.  Granted, I once did try and squeeze in an extra date with an AD lady and guess what, she flaked out while the non-AD lady showed up as expected.

I think in most cases, which many of us would consider normal, we are not dealing with attractive young ladies from AD.  Neo, tell me if I'm wrong, but I think your whole point of the blog is to essentially warn people that the expeirence you will get with such types is not going to be normal other than the heavy hit on the Amex.  Also, I hope your expierence in the Kharkov blog turns out OK...

Jooky,

yes I have had the 'normal' experiences you describe which is partly why i recognise when something 'is rotten in denmark'.

I was interested to see what differences there would be in what you described as 'the two sides of the same coin' - both women I have met could not be more opposite in terms of their situation, the one common thread between them is they are both AD Agency girls. what i am interested to see is a woman who is a single divorced parent of a young child, something which should relatively be much easier a prospect for a single no baggage bachelor to attain (it could easily be done so in my own country) comes with the same gameplay as her prodating bikini model agency stablemates.

i.e the point almost to be shown is this a systemic problem with modern agency girls and using the agency system? lots of us probably think it is.

wicheese, yes i believe the point of my blog is to highlight the experience you will attain from using a conglomerated agency such as AD vs using other methods to get what jooky terms as a 'normal' experience.

this current trip is my last run at the agency girl's - having had some past success with them the game clearly has moved on, what i wanted to do was take two examples to see how systemic the problem was since my current choice should have been much easier than it has in fact turned out to be, so it is either their business model that causes such issues or the type of women they attract. in either case i do not believe they represent good VFM and its a real question of 'buyer beware'.

Neo,

I am in Kiev, Ukraine now and just spent 7 days in Odessa.  Tomorrow I fly back to Canada. It was my second trip to the Ukraine.  Your posts were excellent and I would say you are very accurate in your summary about AD and Odessa.  Thanks for sharing your feeling, your personal story and your sound advice.  Everyone who reads your detailed and passionate story should come away with a good education.  I have empathy for you and understand everything you said.  It was extremely helpful. I forwarded your thread to a friend of mine who is going to stay in Odessa for over 6 months.  He is doing what you recommended.  He is serious in his search also.  It has not been easy for him either as he's been coming to Ukraine for 5 years.

This is my first post on this site.  I read ever comment and post in your thread.  Thanks again for everyone's comments.  It was truly an interesting and informative read.
