Hello all
« on: March 08, 2011, 06:41:37 AM »
I am new to this community, and have not even been lurking for long. I became interested in expanding my search for "the other half" last year, and it seems to have been a good descision. I have been developing a relationship with a lovely Belarusian lady over the past months, and we are becoming quite serious... I know I will have questions in the coming months as I prepare for our first meeting this summer.

Xebec,

Welcome!

You will accelerate the process if you would share how you met the lady and the nature of the communications to date.

I hope it is a great success for you--there are many on this board who will be happy to provide any suggestions and advice you may find useful, and who will be wishing you great success.

There are others here married to Belarussian ladies who might be very good sources of info beyond what those of us with ladies from the other areas can offer--although the ladies there are much the same as ladies from the other FSU countries, obviously there are practical considerations about Belarus that will be helpful for you to know, ranging from places to go to the best airlines various gentlemen have found for making the trip.

I dont know what country you are from, but if you have any questions specific to Belarus, let me know. My wife is from there and Belarus poses some unique issues versus Russia or the Ukraine. what city is she from?

Welcome xebec.

Yes sandro, exactly so...few people catch that....especially with a good pun...hehe. I always loved naval architecture, and the xebec was the most elegant in my opinion...

I am from the US, and I met my girl at a dating site. We have been communicating intensively for several months now...two or three hours a day (sometimes more) via ICQ, probably 5 or 6 hours a week on video chat, as well as frequent email. Her hometown is Minsk, born and raised.

Viking-I would definitely like to know more about the particulars of Belarus...issues that might affect the relationship I'm building.

Mila-Thanks for the warm welcome. Do you mean to look for the standard red flags...I am tring to be as methodical as I can be, but I would certainly appreciate any perspective on the matter.

Thanks everyone for your welcomes...

If you are spending an hour a day on skype, another two hours or more a day on ICQ, and then a bit more a day composing and reading emails, when do you work? And does she? Thats a lot on a daily basis. I am assuming she is fluent in english?

As far as issues regarding building your relationship, Belarus women are no different than any other. Nothing unique there.

Viking...It does sound like a lot of time, but we ICQ in her afternoon which is before I go to work, and again at my lunch (her evening), and after my work (she stays up late for this),,,hehehe We use the 9 hour time difference to our advantage. Yes, we both work. Skype is all on our weekend. Emails are for us to read when we wake up in the morning. I know, I'm a silly puppy... but trying to maintain perspective. What unique perspectives were you refering to? I am interested...very new to this.

Oh, and her English is limited, but she is working hard on that, and I've noticed a lot of progress.
