He never inspired "goo goo eyes" yet a complete stranger did.
And................herein lies the crux of the debate. I remain convinced the guy's an idiot if he was proceeding to marriage without ever seeing her react that way to him.

It's not such a bad measure really, somewhere, if your lady is really into you, it may only be brief but she will have a goo goo eyes moment, you will see it and she'll become quite childlike in her enthusiasm. Conversely, you will too. If you don't have a moment where you really burn up for her............and let it show without intending to, you might reconsider whether it is actually "ring" time just yet?

This situation should be looked at between likely and unlikely.
What is likely is dude is immature, jeaulous and unrealistic. His imaginary look of girl getting 'lit up' was likely his losing control over a girl ~15 years younger and out of his league. Likely their first trip together away from girls home city and dude was likely a hawk over girl.........likely that this RM and girl must have seen each other before at resort( for those that have been to resorts). More than likely a coincidence girl and RM ran into each other.
Unlikely this girl was doing anything wrong ......not  her laughing and smiling speaking to another man. In OP, girl was just outside door waiting, so she was not 'hiding' anything, things were likely in the open.
Likely reason dude did not simply join conversation is his mind thinking the girl was flirting and happy without him. There was no confidence or trust in this relationship( at least from the guys side), it would have been great to hear from girl's point of view.

I kind of relate the relationship with a girl to a yo-yo, you throw out the yo-yo...like a girl going out with friends or speaking with a guy, if it comes back.......it's worth keeping.

Her forefathers came from Ukraine (not their choice). She is born and raised near the Urals. Met her in Russia in 2005.

I think the guy is wrong.
I lit up when i meet a pleasant ukrainian/russian/kazakh/armenian/belorussian/georgian and so on (of any gender) and can speak in my native language to them. I feel happy at this moment.
Of course this type of happiness is very different than happiness when being with a ... boyfriend.
I lit up when my cat makes funny tricks. And this happiness is yet another different type.
So, should i stop being happy about everything around me if this makes someone jealous?

In USSR there was a joke:
in the army, some sorts of seminar for soldiers, the person who leads the seminar announces: "there are different types of love: love between man and woman, man and man, woman and woman, as well as love of Motherland. So today we are going to discuss this latter type of love."

...

But, when you meet and speak to a pleasant (fill in the blank) do you "light up or have goo goo gaa gaa faa faa baa baa whatever eyes" in a way "like you never have before with your husband?"

Of course all of this is conjecture and speculation as, again, we were not witness to the scene.  It isn't about whether the woman did something wrong, or whether she should be put in a cage and kept away from anyone or anything with whom or what she could possibly "Gaaaaaaa!".

I/O's description here is pretty darn good.

And................herein lies the crux of the debate. I remain convinced the guy's an idiot if he was proceeding to marriage without ever seeing her react that way to him.

It's not such a bad measure really, somewhere, if your lady is really into you, it may only be brief but she will have a goo goo eyes moment, you will see it and she'll become quite childlike in her enthusiasm. >>you might reconsider whether it is actually "ring" time just yet?<<

That's the realization, IMO, to which the guy finally arrived.  He acted like a dufus afterwards, which could be indicative of the overall attitude, persona, whatever as to the "why" behind why she couldn't go all googaalitupgaagoo eyed over him all along.  Without actually witnessing the reaction (body language, et al) in the context presented, and also seeing and comparing to her most intense "gaaa gaaa" over NarrativeMainCharacterMan  - it's a wash of a 'debate".

I envision a gallery cheering/booing and a panel holding up 'Gaa Gaa Reaction' judgment cards..

Announcer: "Welcome to GaaGaa Girl! The game of Desire -- where foreign covetuers of young, tight bodied SmokinHotKova's compete against her Native Gladiator Alpha Studs for the Reeeeeeeaaaaaaction of a Lifetime! --  the game where YOOUUUUUU choose the blissssss and HEEEeeeeEEEE gets the piss"

Audience: (cheering)

Announcer: "So, let's PLAAAAY!....Our contestants... First - From the West... he's a man who truly chases his dreams and deludes himself regularly into a world of absolute fantasy. He's a self made man who began his journey of life ringing small chapel bells, but through dedication and hard work rose to the very TOP of the TOWER.. he's visited our Smokin'HotPrincess on several occasions, met the family, had some smiles, and within the span of three months has risen from the sea of electronic anonymity to the epitome of provocative prose and now to MEGA feeeeeyaaaaanSAAAAAY!  She got the Rock! He got to Fock... but .. Is... It... Eee.. Nough???"

Audience: (cheeeeer!)

Announcer: "And his opponent today, her fellow native language speaker who happens to be on vacation at the same place, at the same time, coincidentally passing her on the sidewalk.. watch as he walks past.. look at that gleam in his Alpha Eyes as he notices the prize and his Quest for Breast drives him to make the play..... WHOOAAA, look at that reaction! One look, one word... and she's... gone... completely... GAAA GAAAAA!"

Audience chanting: "Gaaa Gaaa... Gaaaa Gaaa!!! "

Announcer: "Unbelievable! will Ween..errrrr.. WesternMan stand a chance? Let's go to the judges... RussianEncounterMan?"

Judges:  9.0, 9.0, 10, 10, 9.5

Announcer: "Amazing!"
Audience: "Yaaaaaay!!!"

Announcer: "And now to SettledForMan.. does he have what it takes??? What's his Record Best GaaGaa with this woman?  JUDGES???"

Judges: 4.0, 5.5, 3.0, 4.5. 4.0

Audience: "boooooo hissssss (hecklers): WEENIE... WANNABE... GOAT.. (chanting) BAAAAAH BAAAAAAAAH"

Announcer: "Ohhhh, soooo sorry, SettledForMan, better luck next time...you didn't win today, but as a consolation prize you'll receive a portable Take her Anywhere InflataSlavicFemme, fully equipped with battery powered Gaa Gaa eyes to make up for what Yooouu... Didn't... Get.. In... Reality!  and we'll throw in a few scraggly chickens to bet on your next one!"

Interesting thread... and it's been analysed from all corners... but ultimately isn't it just another dreamer playing out of his league and when he feels the slightest bit threatened he goes to water and then acts dishonestly?

It's the behaviour as he is going to water that makes him a dreamer...  and the actions after the decision to dump her that makes him a loser.

I don't think this guy is uncommon in this pursuit, and I'd always recommend any guy considering marriage to a RW to be honest about himself before he even starts to search.  The site marketing is all about telling a man he can get a better wife in FSU than he can get at home - but can he hold onto her after marriage and immigration.

Yes,  anyone can capture the fantasy if he tries long enough, is lucky enough, or spends enough on "it"...  but if you're playing outside of your league you're going to get your a$$ kicked sooner or later because women are not fools  They know if you're a loser!

Keep it real gentlemen - or your reality will be served up with a big does of pain and humiliation!

It doesn't matter is the guy is right, wrong or indifferent. If the girl is too sociable/outgoing/flirtacious for his liking, he should find someone else. I don't recommend trying to play Pygmalion.

Yeah, be careful about that advice TomT.

True, none of us was there to have any idea what 'lit-up' meant, but to be fair in all this light-up talk, if this was what the OP meant when he said in describing the woman's reaction to that Ruskie - well, listen, I'd be royally pissed too knowing I was ever with her.

That'll definitely cause lot's of 'blood rushing to the head' kind of movement.

Urban legend has it everyone becomes a turkey when they go to Turkey.

But, when you meet and speak to a pleasant (fill in the blank) do you "light up or have goo goo gaa gaa faa faa baa baa whatever eyes"
if a person cannot light me up, I never start conversation in the first place, and if another person talked to me first - try to stop conversation as soon as possible. I am at the level of personal freedom when I can allow myself to spend time with people who are pleasant for me, and do not spend my time with people who are not pleasant enough.

in a way "like you never have before with your husband?"
this isn't a fact, but a speculation of ML, telling us a story of some strange guy who is ready to call off his already planned wedding because he didn't like that she talked to another man, and the expression on the face of his fiance when she talked to another man.
otherwise, it's good that he is calling the wedding off - will save the young girl from a nightmare of living with a jealous unstable husband.

Yeah, but please mies, applied to the context of the story...OP coming out after doing No. 2 and then seeing his gal doing those moves in front of a stranger by the hallway elevator, c'mon now...she's likely to damage hotel properties sooner or later...

You have to remember, it's the OP's credit card that's in the hotel's registry.  ;)

Well, OlgaH...now that's what I call 'lit-up'!!

But I reckon that's taking it up a notch, no? According to the OP, its' more like 'lighting up a christmas tree'.

Your version is more like 'lighting up like the 4th of July and Victory Day' all at the same time.

But geezz, at least now I can see how the blood can rush up to their heads when these ladies get caught in these moments.

It's exactly what the man himself revealed to ML.  So going by what the man said, don't you think it's probable that even the most stupid man on the face of the earth can actually identify as well as ascertain "garsh golly gee, she never looked that way at ME!"

It is in that light (pun obviously intended)... that I still ask you the same question and a simple "yes" or "no" will more than suffice.  When you speak with whomever, do you light up have a positive - glowing, happy, ga ga eyed - reaction that is greater in intensity and thus natural visible display than any of those you have ever had with your husband?
