Let's face it when it comes to such subjects, how is it possible to categorize people. Everyone is different and that goes for the FSU as well as any other place.
My wife and I VERY RARELY eat out in our town (3-4 times a year). But when we travel, we enjoy very much of the finest and we travel 3-5 times per year. Tommorrow we are off to Italy and Greece. Thinking of making a different type of TR. One of seasoned WM/UW couple and our different takes on the tour.

Cheers everyone!
 ;)

An American will eat out 6 times a day, he or she won't cook at all.

No wonder they're so fat then  ;)

Hey Vincenzo.

Try to chill. You are coming across as a know-nothing. How can you argue with a person who lives there?

You should be listening.

La La land is Los Angeles. No, I don't live there.

I asked many young Americans what they had in their fridges. Usually, a six pack of beer or soda only. No need to shop if they can just go and buy a burger with Coke for $2.

3. Dinner/supper

What are those 3 other daily meals called ;D?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna argue. But i live here for my whole life...

Welcome to RWD Sky_Blood!  Note to Edge, Sky-Blood's response was very tame for a RW.  A typical RW's propensity and determinataion for agruing is legendary.

I asked many young Americans what they had in their fridges. Usually, a six pack of beer or soda only. No need to shop if they can just go and buy a burger with Coke for $2.

I see what my sons have in their fridge, and it is close to what Vincenzo says.  However, we are talking about what is typical for RW, not 25-yo Western men.  A RW mother will not be taking her kids to MacDonald's.  No way!  Yes, they will stop at Starbuck's, but that doesn't count as dining out.

Keep in mind that there are some cultural similarities among RW.  After that, however, they vary individually as much as any group of women.  Some are party animals; others are book worms, yet the book worm will let her hair down too.

I am a 25 year old male living in England. I have taken interest in the idea of having a Russian Girlfriend however im not sure if I have the right idea about the reality of this i have hearded alot of things on the internet but need some solid facts. Basicly I think women in England are spoiled by feminism and demand to much I take advantage of men to much I know this from previous experience. I been told that Russian women are better in relationships and appreciate a mans efforts in a relationship as opposed to western women who demand and expect everything.

You don't have to have an alibi to pursue a RW.

But you left out the part about most of the local women being a bit too chubby.   We probably need a form letter in the FAQ for everyone to use, as there are a couple of messages like this every month.

Then another form letter for those complaining about how the competition has gotten so much more fierce in recent years when shooting the fish in the barrel.

Snacks, and frequently breakfast, lunch and dinner are nothing more than an empty calorie snack.  Wonder why many American people are overweight.

Russians do eat out. And rather often.
Its funny guys to read stuff on such forums...I think many foreigners pay too much attention to location and nationality. It all depends...being young Russian girl, I can tell you that we r different. Those who think that Russian women are always family-oriented, considerate, loving and caring aren't quite right. Those who think that we r all gold-diggers aren't quite right either.
I must admit in modern Russia girls are very money hungry. They wanna find some wealthy(wealthy means 80K+) guy to help her to immigrate, get education and whatnot and then just screw him over. That is mostly about young girls. Many girls here think that USA is like they show in Hollywood movies - big houses, expensive cars, designer clothes...don't blame them - thats just what we see in movies...many are really into that Californian dream.
On the other hand, there r many girls who just wanna family. Its surprising, but there r girls who really wanna be committed to the family, raise kids, cook dinners. Mostly, these are girls who had experience with Russian men....so they wouldnt ask u to get them Manolo Blahnik shoes(Sex and the city made its contribution)б they wouldn't ask u for luxury...they d be just happy that u appreciate her, take care of her and love her.And with pleasure would give such a treatment back...and she would never care that u don't make six figuires or dont have six pack
So...Russian women are different...
Just my opinion )

Thank U Rubicon  :)
I'm from Yekaterinburg, which most of foreigners never heard about, but I d say whats special about it is that we r situated right on the border between Europe and Asia. So we have like a monument and a line dividing Europa and Asia, ppl take pics there finding it cool to have a chance to stand in Europe and Asia at the same time :)
I've been studying English for many many years...first school with an emphasis on English, 11 years of English. Then Foreign Languages Department studying English. Now graduating.

Well I certainly have heard of Yekaterinburg.  I had a young female Russian friend here where I live from there.  Her mother married an American.  Unfortunately I lost contact with her.  And like many historical buffs I know that the last Tsar and his family (most famous being Anastasia) lost their lives there.

I hope you will keep reading the forum and keep posting so we can continue to get your viewpoints.  Are you dating a western man??

Sky, would you mind sharing this experience with us? I don't know if you have read here that there are basically two opinions on doing this.

1) Send mass mailing, talk to two to ten girls twice or three times and then visit them to find out chemistry.

2) Find one and spend some time knowing each other.

I'm not going to get into the implications of both. Just want to hear how you came about applying for a K-1 (?) visa.

Let me be clear, that is IF you feel like writing about it.

Well, I was there on the site just cuz i was curious. And what I really wanted was to practice English. No kidding. I wasn't desperate, i had and have enough money, I didn't have lack of attention, I didn't dream of moving to another country.
He sent me a message...and what was cute that he tried to say things in Russian(he has his minor in Russian). i looked thru his pics...oh well not Johnny Depp, but he was so cute and nice, and i did get most of his jokes, so we almost didn't have any language problems. Then he called me...then we've been talking for hours..thru ICQ, Skype, whatnot. He went to visit me and it was wonderful. I can't say I was in love or something, but he was such a gentleman, so cute and funny) He stayed here in Russia for a week
Later he started to ask me how i felt about him. I liked him. But what did matter for me was that he liked me. And how he cared about me. I wont give all details but I had hard times...he did support me, and yes money was there too. He helped me and I did appreciate it.
Year later I went to USA, we lived together for 3 months and he proposed. I cried. i have difficult character and I have very...um...peculiar views on some traditional things...and i m really honest and straightforward about things which was very refreshing to him. And I can't have kids. But still he wanted to marry me...I said yes.
we applied for fiancee visa, got notice of approval 2 days ago and in few months we'll get married.
Thats our story in short. Feel free to ask anything, I m pretty open about it

U know, I was always honest. I never lied. Not a single moment. He didn't like it may be, it was hard at times...but still. I think it was the key point. I never lied that I dont care about money at all, never lied that I am 100% sure we d spend whole life together. i always told hm what i thought. It's better to be hated for who u r than loved for who u aren't

I saw a documentary on TV yesterday about Yekaterinburg. It was a part of an 8-part travel documentary called Around Russia in 30 days. It's a Finnish actor ( Ville) who was visiting different cities in 2009, travelling on the Transsiberian railway. He know Russian and is apparently a celebrity in Russia as lots of people recognized him and wanted photos taken with him.

In Yekaterinburg we saw the procession on Victory Day, he visited a amateur theatre and a dance club for youngsters. He also interviewed a very old man who had worked in a huge factory with 55 000 enployees for 65 years! Very interesting.

No need to. You just described how I met my wife. Actually, my wife would have written the same thing.  ;D  Especially this:

i looked thru his pics...oh well not Johnny Depp, but he was so cute and nice, and i did get most of his jokes, so we almost didn't have any language problems.

I've heard her say exactly the same. (No Johnny Depp, some Russian actor)

BTW, next month will be 11 years.

famous church in Yekaterinburg:

The Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land (Russian: Храм-на-Крови́ во и́мя Всех святы́х, в земле́ Росси́йской просия́вших) is a Russian Orthodox church in Yekaterinburg built in 2000-2003 on the site where the former Emperor Nicholas II of Russia and several members of his family and household were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution. The church commemorates the Romanov sainthood.
