PeeWee I still believe that a woman is more centered toward inner beauty than we guys are. We are all about outer beauty. So what women saw about us is not the same as what we saw about them. Go to Las Vegas some time. Only because there are a large number of couples there. I was there with a friend of mine a while back. She commented, "Did you notice how many average looking guys there seems to be with great looking women?" I didn't notice it until she brought it to my attention, but she was right. Women accept different things in men than men do in women.

I am trying to think of another city where more gold-digging woman might be on the arm of a guy that "except for the money", could not get a date.

I hardly think Vegas is an example of anything typical :D

How about Los Angeles? How about Atlantic City? Miami? Monaco? Bangkok? Taipei? Tokyo? Manila?I can name many citys where this is true.

Yeah and sooner or later they all end up in vegas.

I never said they live there... but people like that go to those places and thats why you see so many there.

And what evidence do you have that Russian women are not?

generous man, financially well secure, well off,

And what do the women who post here tell us: Good 'middle class' American man, able to give me a normal car and 'ordinary vacations'

What are they telling you?

If they were not seeking economic betterment why would they even look at you guys?

Be realsitic, accept that this is so and work with it. There is nothing wrong with the attitude, there is everything wrong with its denial by men and women.

Of course RW are also wanting to do better, because they are giving up quite a bit to leave their country.  They want a better life also.  My wife would have been happy to find a RM who helped with the housework and financially.  She couldn't find one and that's that.

She would be happy with me in Ukraine if we lived in a typical apartment and had no car.

There are women who are not just looking for a move to the west or to only upgrae their standard of living.  There are those also, I met a few.

If I made a typical Ukraine salary and lived in her city my wife would still want to be with me and not want to leave Ukraine.

I agree that if a man wants the hot young woman, work with the money thing and see if you can keep her when she gets here.

Ken / Jack,

I am willing to bet that we three would arrive at different lists if we were to list out those women we see as 10's versus 7's versus 5's and so on.

I know from Jack's photos, and discussions, that his taste in women is somewhat different than mine. No big deal - just different.

As one simple example - I would have been perfectly content with a wife from ANY part of the world - if they were the person who I felt bonded with. In fact, it is a bit of a surprise to me that I am married to a woman of light complexion and light hair. I found the dark-skinned and raven-haired beauties of Andalucia incredibly beautiful. Some others prefer the blond and blue-eyes.

What makes for a 9 or 10 in my eyes may be a 6 or 7 in someone else's.

And that is my point. I have no idea what a '10' is for Albert - but I suspect my opinion would be different. Same for Doug, Same for catzenmouse - etc. The only universal agreement we could possibly reach is that that DonAZ's wife, and yours Ken - are among the most beautiful women anywhere in the world ;) - but even then, there are certainly some who would find a different form of beauty more appealing. Which renders the numeric ratings meaningless when trying to compare and contrast in this particular medium.

Sorry for coming in so late in the thread and the :off topic: but;

Dan,
Thank you for your words about my wife  :). I think that maybe our tastes in Ladies are about the same. My first wife is an olive skinned almond eyed Scillian beauty, but this blonde, blued eyed Russian Lady, who I am now married to, captured my heart.

Recently, we spent a nice weekend with Kenc and  his stuinning wife  and I have to agree with you Dan that Ken's wife is a world class beauty and incredibly funny. Ken is a lucky man, also I think his wife is lucky, Ken is a great guy.

Back on topic

Has anyone heard anything from Doug? I sent him an e-mail and  a PM but no  reply as of yet.

I hope all is well with Doug and his Lady.

Hey Don,

What is that I heard about a fish hook getting a little off target?

Or maybe it was ON-TARGET from the looks of it ;)

Seriously, it sounds like you guys had some fun. AZ in the Springtime can be absolutely beautiful.

If you guys decide to make it up this direction (we have some WONDERFUL activities in both Summer and Winter) - please let us know so we might show you around some.

Take care,

- Dan

Dan,

Well as far as Yulia was concerned the hook was off target, but from my perspective it was right on¦nbsp; ;D. I did make a federal project of removing the hook and also took my sweet a$$ time doing it.

I know you've seen the photos that Ken took, so I figured, what the hell, I might as well let everyone see them.

As you can see from the second photo Ken chopped my wife's head off in the photos. I wonder what he was focusing on? Ya think it may have been  my grey hair?  :o

I hope Ken will post the photos of Lena spearing her  fish with a spiked high heel to keep it from flopping back into the pond. That one is a CLASSIC!!!

We all had a great time that day and a million laughs.

BTW we may take you up on your offer to show us around Colorado. As you know it gets friggin hot in the Valley of the Sun in the Summer and we look for any excuse to escape.

 :-\
                       ???
I cant believe i read 20 some pages and there is no sign of Doug
posting how things are turning out ,
and the daily joys or struggles of the 90 pressure cooker most couples will endure (wether prepared or not)

I doubt he returns, but hope he does to finish thier tale.

Also I doubt anyone ,but a bored husband with his wife away visiting family ,
will read to this point,
but for  what its worth ,
and for anyone thinking this process is quick or easy.

My wife and I both concede that had we taken the K1 route,
her feelings of : isolation, culture shock/ disappointments in America ,
homesickness and my own frustrations at her moodyness and therfor not being the person i knew,,
despite me trying to set everything up beforehand and make her transition as painless as possible.
we  would have ended at day 90 with us both deciding the best thing for both partners would be her returning to Ukraine..

For us it was VERY different though!
as we were already married when she arrived (DCF)
had been married about a year,  known each other a couple of years, and had a deep commitment and resolve to make things work between us.
Despite this, and despite good english and driving abilities, (allowing a much higher than average level of initial independence and freedom  for her)
we still, as a couple , suffered much of the same things most K1 couples go thru during this transition period. It was rough, very rough initially..
(of course much more so on her part, and it was hard to watch someone you love go thru it)
There were some great times certainly, but just as certainly followed by tremendous lows..a vicious cycle.I think a bit more of a roller coaster than  traditional newlywed shakeouts!!!  LOL!
The bright side for us is the duration of this crucial time was short lived, perhaps 3 to 5 months, and strange as it may seem,
ultimately brought us closer together.
Hey ,the boat still rocks with an occassional sqwall , just to keep things interesting I suppose ;)  but we couldnt be happier now,,
maybe it was because we already had a foundation and could be more aware of it simply being transition trama ,, or maybe we were just lucky...
I honestly dont know, or have any answers.

Why do I post this?
because Dougs experiences reminded me of our own initial few months,
and after knowing a lot of couples it rings close to home with most.
if you pursue this path you will quite likely go thru something
quite similar, and quite difficult on you both, more than you can imagine even with the best ofintentions. As prepared as you think you both can be, nothing is like living it, nor can prepare you (or her ) for it..

I am sure some couples sail right thru on sunshine, but it's best to be prepared to button the hatches for a decent time period  ;D
I dont want to sound too negative - because afterall - sailing to Hawaii is worth going thru an initial  storm or two.

Doug ,here's hoping you and Larisa have some calm waters to make your decision during, and some smooth sailing afterwards!

I would have to agree with AJ.
These last 9 months have been the happiest and most frustrating of my entire life.
I will sometimes have to disagree that women are women. RW are a special breed and it takes work, work, work.
If you get tired of the small things after one year, as Carl has mentioned in another thread, what happens when there are major issues to deal with during year two?

SOC the most important thing is to be able to live with each others bad habits. Living together is not just about enjoying the good things, but also about acepting the bad ones. You are doing a great job exploring this and I am sure so is your wife.
The bad habits should only become a problem when you stop enjoying the good parts.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Shadow,

The 'firing' habit takes a while to get used to but once this phase is over it's like heaven..
