Crimea, I Love This Place
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:37:07 AM »
I am here in Crimea, Sevastopol and as always loving it.

I got some friends here to meet, aswell as some new ladies. In fact I have the dilemma of working out how to fit all the invites in the time I am here.

I met with one lady so far, spent a few days together. As always wanted to show me her city  :) Nothing romantic has happened, but I sense she is a cautious person. We enjoy each others company and will see what happens. There are a couple of other ladies to met yet, who I have met through EM, Mamba and through friends here. Others I will meet, are people I have met on previous trips here to Crimea. One of which is someone I spent alot of time with on previous trips and had great promise, but sadly felt apart romantically. We are still good friends, possibly a friend for life, and we plan to meet for a day together.

I am enjoying Sevastopol, I caught the sun, so looking a little red, nothing unusual for a Brit. It is very busy here, mainly Russian, Belarus and Ukrainians here for summer, apparently its quiet with Westerners, so I been told. I have seen a few Americans here walking around. I see a group who are always sat outside the American Embassy (McDonalds) as its about 2 minute walk from my apartment. I never understood why someone would visit another country and go to a McDonalds to eat. But hay ho, each to their own. Of course there is all the the Navy Personel walking around in uniform due to it being a Navy Base.

Anyway I will write again later, maybe put some pics on here. Now going out to enjoy the day  :)
Its an opinion, don't get too crazy if you disagree :)

It seems you really enjoy yourself in Crimea. How hot is it in the daytime there now? I'm coming down there in late July, via Simferopol, then to Koktebel and Kerch. I can't wait for it and as you say you love the place, it should be great for me too  :D  Keep the photos coming if you have the time.

Yeah I love it alright  :)
Its about 29-33C here during the day at the moment. Sunday was crazy here in Sevastopol, it was Ukrainian Navy Day, with fireworks, although with the low cloud there wasn't much to see apart from it feeling like all of Crimea was here.
Had a few beers early evening and now feeling the effects. Had a day today on my own, just relaxing and taking in the sites. Getting calls and sms from friends here checking I'm ok. As for tomorrow, hopefully will be meeting someone.
The Natural
I am sure you will love it here.  :)

Oh yes, the big Yacht belongs to Ukrainian President, nice hey.

Great stuff Handycam, keep it coming.  Thanks for the photos!!  Very nice yacht in one of the photos.  I agree with you about Americans going to McDonalds.  Classic but funny in a sad way.  I don't eat there too often anymore; except for a bit of chicken.  Not really good for your health otherwise.

Nice photos, Handy, and I wish you the best.  May I suggest, though, if that's you in the photo, to lose that style of T-shirt?  Wear a plain T-shirt of a solid colour, a golf shirt, or a linen shirt.  It presents a different image.

Printed t-shirts and torn jeans, for that matter, only work on teens and guys in their early twenties.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Have fun Handycam.  Good to see you give UW another try.

I have heard Sevastopol is an interesting city (history, sea, architecture, closed during Soviet days, etc.)

Give him a break.  First, he is on a boating excursion.  Second, he did not turn his cap sideways.  Third, he looks young (relative to me).  Fourth, he is British.   ;)

Enjoy yourself HC72.  I always thought Crimea was a great vacation spot although as you said, for Brits it can get a little too hot.  I'm surprised you haven't met any fellow Brits or Europeans, when I've been there with my family we met many Brits and Europeans, most married to a FSUW .

No.  Just dress like a grown up.

Like it or not, UW do judge men by how they are dressed.  Handy seems like a good guy, and I hope he is successful.

HC72 perhaps you could wear a t-shirt that identifies you as British?  A Union Jack t-shirt or a t-shirt from your favourite football club.  I wear something like that often when visiting the inlaws.  As a result I've had many Russians comment that they've visited England or live in England and are just back visiting relatives.  If nothing else it serves as an ice breaker and helps start a conversation.  Just remember HC72 no matter how you dress you're not going to pass for a local while in the FSU.

Outdated advice.  I like your T-shirt Handycam, I think it's cool.   ;D

Absolutely, Dave.  But without this, the forum would be boring, wouldn't it?  And besides, if I'm mean to you guys, I'll be nice to my husband. ;)

Yes, Rubicon.  You are correct, if you want to look like an old man wearing his teen aged son's clothing. :crackwhip:

Like it or not, UW do judge men by how they are dressed.

Actually, attire is important to UW.  Most of them dress up, so why not the man.   I do not know if UW judge men by their dress as much as UW prefer that men dress up.

The one serious point of my earlier post is that Handycam is boating, and it does not appear to be a large boat.  One can be more casual when boating.  If he were yachting I suggest something as in the photo below.  ;)

No.  Just dress like a grown up.

Like an old grown up in the photo?!   :D :D :D   Aristotle Onassis knew how to dress.

Onassis had Maria Callas and Jackie dressing him, Gator.  One only wears a yachting uniform if one can afford a yacht. :P    Or perhaps, Handycam can "borrow" the stylish jacket of a naval officer.

Yes, Rubicon, I am old.  Still, in the same age range as most of the guys chasing twenty somethings here, though.  And, I'm still pretty flexible. ;)

Any new photos, Handycam?  What do you like best about Sevastopol?

Man, you guys will argue about anything!

And not to mention that an Ukrainian woman is giving a guy some tips to be successful with the ladies. What the hell does a UW knows about that, right?

Well it seems my dress sense has become a hot topic  :)
Vinnvinny - That was my thoughts exactly.
I have just shown this thread to some Ukrainian friends who are here with me today. They are very amused by it. To give you an idea, the response to Boethius comment, was first, lots of laughter, and the second, well I not repeat it, just to say they disagree. The shirt in photo, like some others, does create amusement, aswell get attention, as it has, like some other shirts "Fat Face" written on it. I will leave it there, see who knows what "Fat Face" is.

I just found out another UW I know is in town aswell and wants to meet up. So my style of clothing is not a problem. I wear what I want to wear, and if others don't like it, well thats their problem, not mine.

The inet is slow here, uploading photos takes a while so maybe do that when I get back.

Its an opinion, don't get too crazy if you disagree :)
