She makes me soooo angry :exploding:

Boe, there's an easy cure for that. Change the channels.

BTW, I kept my promise. I saw the first episode and have ignored it ever since.

Ah, but I like being angry.  It gives more edge to my posts. :P

I didn't have to promise.....after that first episode, I could care less about selfish, self-centered people...

But doesn't it make you feel so much better about your life...? ;)

And I fixed that American-typo for you up there in the quote. What is it with that anyway? Why does just about every American I see posting say, "I could care less" when in actual fact they mean that they could not care less? Please stop it you guys. Really. Okay?

My, my.. Looks like the heat is on this New Year season on Brighton Beach! Ladies and gentlemen, we have just witnesses the biggest fight on the show so far.. The girls let their emotions run wild exposing their true selves and letting their accents come out BIG TIME.. Diana the Jewish Princess started it when she forgot herself and let slip that she hates Anna's guts during a Tarot reading session, no less. Talk about consulting with the Devil! :rolleyes2: Needless to say, Anna wasn't about to let that slide and rightfully so. Immediately, a quarrel broke out that would last all through the season.

I couldn't believe it when Anastasia aka Duckface called Anna a Russian hillbilly at the dinner table on New Years's Eve.. First of all, Anna is the only girl there who resembles a Russian. So she got that part right. As for the hillbilly part of her remark, it applies more to herself.. In fact, that's the first thing that pops into my mind whenever I look at her or hear her speak. She belongs in a place like Rasputin, which is about as hillbilly as it gets.. Isn't it the cheapest looking nightclub you're ever seen? It looks like something you might find in a one-horse provincial town in Russia.. :rolleyes2:

I thought it was poetic justice that Diana and Ana got kicked out to roam the dark cold streets while Anna was allowed to stay and continue celebrating with her friends.. Who looks like prostitutes now? :D

BTW, I'm not sure what to make of this centuries-old Russian tradition of making New Year's resolutions, writing them down on a piece of paper and then burning the paper and drinking the ashes with your champagne.. Is that safe? ::)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't she the only girl on the show who does not have a boyfriend? And yet she's in hurry to get married before she's 25.. Even Duckface has a bf, and Diana is way prettier than her.

Ah, but she only wants a Russian man.

I suspect it is difficult to find a Russian in Brighton Beach. >:D

Well, if I didn't have much of a life...yes you are right Ade. Why does society need 'grease
fires' for entertainment or to make our lives 'look' better. Do watching multi-dysfunctional families really kick in our cerebral cortex??

Since you asked ade....I was correct.....if I had to watch that program over again, I would care less...and less...and less

People go to Russia and you will be shock how beautiful and intelegent russians are if you think this show is reality show. Russians, not Jews who lives in a Brighton Beach. All what they have from Russians is language.
I'm proud of Russia and Brighton jews is a shame ,have nothing to do with real russian. I don't understand why they call them selfs russians,if they hate Russia?! They have they own community- emigration of USSR. They are absolutly jews, this show should be called The Brightnon Jew

Another exciting week in Little Israel on Brighton beach.. It started with Duckface giving Princess Diana a lecture on the importance of being beautiful inside and out, which she was having none of that after a tanning session at a salon. I have no idea how much time she actually spent getting her fake tan every way she could, including getting spray-tanned, but when she came out of there she looked like a bronze statue of herself. :rolleyes2: And as if that wasn't enough, in a fit of maiden desperation she decided to get her mezuzah kissing lips tattooed! Putting aside the obvious ridiculousness of such a venture, I think her lips were full enough and needed not seem any bigger. Anyways, she went ahead with it, and when she was done with the procedure I couldn't believe how absolutely hideous her lips looked!  >:( So fake and so ugly. Her father nailed it! "Ugly, ugly, ugly", he kept saying..

A pretty intense week at Marina's house too.. The whiny-sounding shrew found her herself fighting a losing batter against her MIL over whether or not to let her 12 year old son with a beautiful Russian name Zev join his grandmother on a trip to his great-grandfather's grave. First of all, Marina, a 12 year old is not a little child that needs to be protected from reality. In fact, he is just one year away from his Bar Mitzvah! Long story short, Marina's husband ended up taking him to the cemetery anyway, and an ugly fight ensued.

On a lighter note, Marina got a new fur coat! :D They didn't say how much her husband shelled out for it, but it looked expensive, albeit incredibly tacky.. How much bling do you really need on a fur coat? None, if you ask me..

He was named in the "Russian tradition" of naming your child after a deceased relative.  He also learned the "Russian tradition" of putting a stone on a visited grave. ::)

But, what kind of a "strong man" is her husband, sneaking Zev rather than telling his wife this is the way it will be???

She looked like a marshmallow!  She is too short and round for that style.  But, the bling did fit the brashness of most of the style demonstrated on that show.

Don't forget the traditional Russian prayer for the dead!

According to the Russian tradition, the mother is the head of the household.. She is also the most important person in her son's life.

Ditto.. Her poor taste in clothes really showed in that scene.

Did you notice how much make-up Duckface was wearing? It made her look older and trashy..

Boethius and Possum, I can't watch the show without thinking of you guys!  Oh my, the traditional "Russian" prayer and traditional "Russian" custom of stones on the grave was highly amusing!

I did feel sorry for Eva, with her grandson not being permitted to go, it really hurt. That was ridiculous, like this whole staged show but she seemed really hurt.
