Visa Success!
« on: February 18, 2006, 11:48:32 AM »
Although Nadia has been here six months and visa extension should be a formality, it isn't for some and still nerve wracking....

Anyway, she now has a UK Residence Permit until October 2008 so that in theory should give us the opportunity to go for the UK Unmarried Partners Visa and commit to marriage later if we want but more importantly, in our own time.

So by October 2008 I'll be a Five Year Wonder!

Is it OK if we begin to wonder about you before waiting 5 years?  :D

Congrats.  Any uncertainty, no mater how trivial is should be, always is greatly amplified when governments are involved.  Glad there's one less in you lives.  :)

Well I just think there IS an alternative to spending 10 days face time with a girl and an interpeter, and then getting engaged on the last day, marrying in haste and all that.

With my method u get to see the girl after the novelty has worn off and importantly before you;ve signed on the dotted....

Ste,

I think your way (in England) is a wonderful way to be able to do  this. I only with other governments would catch a clue in this way.  Your news is wonderful and I hope that everything will work out for the  very best for you.

I think KenC did it in a broadly similar way although I think she was already in USA on student visa.

Maybe it's an option for USA too:

Find a girl

Sponsor her studies at US university

If i goes well, marry her, if not she goes home with an international degree to make up for her having to go home rootless as she would after a failed K1.

Good plan or stupid idea?!

No idea of costs but it must equate to a fair few trips to russia and you have to be largely sure...

Come to think of it it's a terrible idea!!

Reading back I didn't make it clear Nadia is here on Student visa!

So, Nadia is here on a student visa, didn't I say before?
