From the
Mendeleyev Journal:
You've undoubtedly heard of the Putin girls and you know those young ladies are willing to undress in public in order to show support for Vladimir Putin in the 2012 presidential race.
Given President Dmitry Medvedev's family values and faithful Orthodox Christian images, one might never had guessed that there would be a group of young ladies called the Medvedev girls. There is we assure you! Recently these young ladies took to Moscow streets offering to strip for donations of beer and a promise to support Medvedev in the upcoming election next year.

Okay, here is how this promotion worked. Given President Medvedev's concern about lowering the drinking rates of male Russians, the Medvedev girls offered to take off an article of clothing each time a man emptied is bottle of beer into a "donation" bucket held by one of the girls.
Shoot, it makes a man want to take up drinking! Of course who said that ordinary Russians aren't interested in politics. You can see for yourself that the media reporters in this scene are intently focusing their cameras on the beer so give the Medvedev girls credit for breathing life back into what had been a lackluster campaign cycle so far.
Just yesterday the Medvedev girls dressed up in school uniforms on the traditional first day of school and took their message to young college students, asking for their support for the president.
