Interesting hypothesis: gay fashion designers are plotting to starve women to death, and hence push men over to their side :-\ ;D .

    Yes. >:D

Actually, my theory is they want female fashion models to look like adolescent boys. :P
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Sorry ML, I have to also vote with the ladies on this one.

Again, what specifically are you voting for . . .  or did you just mean you were KA?

Right-click the image, select 'Copy Image Address' or similar from the context menu, paste and select it, click the Image icon ;) ..

Doesn't work for me.  Perhaps you can just do it!!   8)

Yes, I heard a female comedian note recently that men (most) seem to like an ass size that looks quite a bit like that of a 16 year old boy.

Quite interesting that in this thread, like many others, we can get a lot of back and forth on a very  subjective and unresolvable issue; yet when someone asks for some real specific help, his/her message languishes and get little response.   ::)

Exactly what are you agreeing to?  I don't recall the adjective 'big' being a part of any disagreement.
I would be agreeing to the girl in the first picture being a smaller dress size than a 12.  You are right I did use the word big, mainly because the bigger you are the larger your dress size.  I believe you used the words plump and stout.  Aloe I believe was looking for our impressions on words like thin and curvy and voluptuous and if this women fit any of those.  So I think she is wondering what these words mean to us.  I just wanted ot give my opinion on the subject.  Just look at her wrists, ankles and waist, she is not plump in my opinion, curvy is a good description.

So anyone wanna explain to me, with photos if you can, what exactly is:
You've had the theories, now here's the reality.

Quote
1. Curvy
One roll hanging over the jeans waist line. Generally looks disgusting in a bikini.

Quote
2. Thin
Datable. Probably looks OK in a one piece.

Quote
3. Normal
2 or more rolls over the jeans waist line. Not a good look in any swim suit.

Quote
4. Voluptuous (just to be clear)
Effing huge with skirt about 3 sizes too small and buttons popping off the blouse. Boobs everywhere. Don't allow her swimming, she'd empty the pool if she dived flopped in. Often have the "rode hard, put away wet a time or two" look.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear.

I agree with Aloe's 1st pic as being 'curvy'
Actually, Aloe's 2nd isn't thin, but rather anorexic looking.
Boethius' pic, she is slim but not anorexic looking.
Boethius' 2nd pic, all the women are overweight/fat whatever you want to call it.

As far as women's sizes are concerned, they are all a mystery to me (except for bra sizes)  :)

Au contraire, mon bonne sœur.  Some women have lost their heads when a man has a huge middle leg.   ;D  Granted, it seems to have been only temporary madness.

There is also the issue of what size a woman should wear to feel comforatble and the smaller size into which she forces herself.

Is it not true that many expensive fashion houses will missize - label something as a size 8 when it is actually a size 10, just to make women feel better?  Vanity helps sales and justifyies the greater cost.

No, but sizes have become larger.  A 1960's size 12 is now a size 2.  A 1980's size 8 is now a size 2.

The first woman in Aloe's posting is voluptuously curvey.  On the weight scale, she is probably plump to stout.

Plump to stout?!? Size 14+?!? I have to agree with Beothius on this one, you clearly are not seeing the same woman that I am seeing on my screen.

I agree Misha, if this woman is plump, then my Lena (who wears a size 4) must be chubby. LOL  :D

You are way wrong.  The first woman could not get into size 12 jeans, maybe not even size 14.

Here's an expert opinion for you. My wife, besides being a business graduate is also a seamstress (from a family of seamstresses) and she thinks she is probably a European size 40. Now, depending on which European/American conversion chart you look at, this is anywhere between a US size 6 and US size 10. Victoria's Secret says 8 whereas Fashion 411 says 6 for example.

This inconsistency is bizarre if you ask me. You would think that the clothing industry would manage to have something as simple as sizing standards down pat by now.

Anyway, seems like ManLooking needs to look a little closer or get some new glasses.

There's that 'a' / 'o' again. Sorry, LOL.

OlgaH, you'd be surprised but I've heard this to be a turn-on for many quite a bit. Conversely, the term 'chicken legs' had been utterred as one of the reasons why a lot of these women find some men unattractive.

I watched a show once where they took 6 overweight women with a body shape generally of the same height/weight ratio. Big ladies....they then took them to a bridal shop and had them choose a bridal gown that they felt would not only make them look 'better' in but one they think will make them look 'slimmer'

Of the 6, only 1 did looked both slimmer and better than the rest. The main difference was, she chose a size slightly 'larger' than her sizing whereas the others actually chose 1, one chose 2, size/s smaller. They looked terrible.

Ok, either we have a different understanding of the words curvy and thin, which is very likely, or your idea of beauty is really the media instilled unhealthy look :P

This is an interesting question anyway. Whenever i looked at an american website, you had to specify your body build with a word. I remember the first time around i set my type as "voluptuous", because i have large breasts while my BMI is nearing the 'underweight' mark (very weird, considering i do not look underweight at all, not even close to the woman from the last picture, who is definitely underweight). Later i found out voluptuous was a word used for fat women.

So here you are, saying curvy, which is also one of the options on those websites. And thin. So anyone wanna explain to me, with photos if you can, what exactly is:

1. Curvy
2. Thin
3. Normal
4. Voluptuous (just to be clear)

Curvy for me is a normal woman who has breasts bigger than normal (C-D or bigger), not too fat tummy, and a  butt about the same circumference as breasts
Like this woman is very curvy in my understanding, although her tummy can also be a little bit bigger http://www.city-data.com/forum/attachments/relationships/34635d1232567179-when-someone-says-theyre-curvy-built-image008.jpg

Thin in my understanding is like this

http://anorexiapictures.net/files/images/skinny_model8.jpg

1) Voluptous.  But this is subjective, because everyone's viewpoint varies.  I will be the lone (apparently) guy who doesn't find her that attractive.
2) Ultra thin.  She needs to eat some ice cream, or maybe some cheesecake.  Or both.   Everyday.  For a month.
I like something inbetween.  A woman who is overweight, regardless of how magnificent her personality, is not attractive to me.

I'd say she's 1, nearly-4 and definitely 5.

More than likely in real life I'd stop just short of saying she's voluptuous although I'd consider her close, damn close.

And no way she is more than a size 10-equivalent from any manufacturer/label.
