Hi

I read on the forum but i've seen only old message in 2010 and less, law change all the time and i would like some advice.

I speak with a Russian Woman for 8 month almost everyday on Skype. We decide to meet for the New Year, late december to early january 2012.

She visit Greece in 2011 for vacation, do we have a chance to get a tourist visa ? And how to get it ?

Sorry YvesM my understanding is that it is difficult for a FSUW to get a visa to visit Canada unless she has considerable reasons to return home.

Probably not. In addition to the child, she will also need at least a letter from her employer stating that she is employed and expected back at work on a certain date. Plus evidence that she has enough money to pay for the trip and expenses in Canada. It would also help if she owned property such as a house or apartment. Even this may not be enough.

For some reason that I really don't understand Canada makes it difficult for Russians and Ukrainians to visit Canada. Perhaps there is a history of visa violations by residents from these countries. In the UK it is reasonably easy for Russians to visit but Canada and the US are totally different.

Answering the question isn't too difficult.

Have her inquire with some of the reputable travel agencies and find out what they will charge for her to join a tour group trip to Canada. She'll tell them she has traveled to Greece on vacation this year and make it clear she is not buying anything until she knows for sure that they have arranged for her visa. Of course she'll need to pay for the visa application fee.

Personally, I think you'll find this is a lot of hassle and the expense and uncertainty is going to be prohibitive. This is why almost all of us go there for a few visits before considering trying to bring them here.

If she comes to Canada, you can marry her, and she will be able to stay and do the inland application for permanent residence. That is precisely what the consulate doesn't want!

The Canadian consulate is familiar with all the scams and tends to take a guilty until proven innocent approach. Showing a bank account with a consistent positive and improving balance is always best.

Visit her a few times, get to know her, if it works out marry her, sponsor her, she applies for PR and wait...
