An American is homeless in the Ukraine, his love didn't show up
« on: November 15, 2011, 11:57:17 AM »

Quote
Dolego traveled to the Ukraine in May on a vague business trip, hoping to share his ideas about air- and sea-travel safety. He ran out of money after his bank account was frozen for unknown reasons, then got kicked out of his apartment. He'd been corresponding for "months" with Yulia, a woman surgeon in Chernovtsy, so he decided to go there to see if she could help him out. But he never did find her.
After being rescued from streets by the social workers and placed in a homeless shelter, Dolego was taken to a local hospital and treated for pneumonia. He was still at the hospital as of yesterday.
In the video, Dolego explains how he e-mailed Yulia to let her know he was coming.
"But she probably wouldn't recognize me because I have been wearing -- I could show you hear -- a very distinctly different Russian hat," he tells the interviewer. "Yulia, I love you dearly, and I'm hoping that we can finally make contact..."

Another article by the RIAN News agency noted that Dolego was featured in the ABC broadcast in August. The news special shows Dolego preparing for the trip, excited about the prospect of finding a "marriage-minded" woman. "It's just going to be an extraordinary experience -- I'm looking forward to it," he says before his flight, adding that it would be "ideal" if he returned home in a few weeks with a potential mate.
Cameras followed him to the Ukraine, where "Julia," an Odessa woman, was supposed to meet him at the airport. She turned out to be a no-show. But the matchmaking service soon set Dolego up with other dates. In one scene, he's shown chatting over drinks with several women.
After the news crew went home, Dolego's plan went seriously awry.
But he's still hopeful.
Dolego could have gone home at U.S. Embassy expense, but then he wouldn't have been able to return to the Ukraine because of a visa problem, according to unian.net. He's "decided to find his beloved in Chernovtsy at all costs, even if he has to hole up," the article says.
Love will find a way -- and hopefully before winter sets in.

Julia from Odessa

He is 53, she is 27 and from Odessa. Another man is looking for a miracle.

The man does not look like a fool to me. He sounds more like someone with mental health problems.

It's a little sad really.  :(

Why do you think he is a fool?

He's been having good time since May meeting sexy girls everywhere in the Ukraine.
When his debit card is unblocked, he'll continue the search for the naked "surgeon".

He's like a gambler in Las Vegas. He's spent thousands on the tour, agencies, and he can't stop. At least, he knows that he's illegal and he won't be able to get a visa to the Ukraine again. Please, stop!

Have you seen him at the table with 10 young girls in the video? He won't stop.

There actually was a thread, IIRC, that a member started not too long ago about an AM who requires some assistance in the FSU that 'fit' this report. I just don't remember what section it was. It seemed benign at the time...

There are prettier girls in the Ukraine, but the man was attracted to the Borat's bikini.

I found a video about his tour to Odessa.
http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/internet-bride-14329506

Based on the video the guy, Carrey Dolego, was played by the agency. Looking at his computer screen we can see his mail inbox at the agency he used. The titles used in the subject line are for guys living fantasy. Real women don't write that way. Also it cost $5.95 to open a letter.

Carrey gets to Ukraine wearing horrible baggy clothes and became the victim of bait and switch. Yulia, the bikini wearing doctor who promised Carrey BIG love, is out of country and so he is shown other girls. Carrey being the total romantic is determined to wait for Yulia to show up for as long as it takes even if his hair takes a beating due to lack of maintenance. Truth is Yulia is probably married and the agency has been writing letters on her behalf.

With all the attention he's getting, he's the poster boy that represents every man in this forum. The population in the FSU is declining. It's wise the governments scare women so they'll make babies at home.

His love Julia visited him at the hospital after reading the news.
She said she had never written any messages to Dolego. She had registered on the website, uploaded her photos, but couldn't log in later.

Go figure! An AFA client no less. I complained to AFA about the woman on their site who asked me for $480 for a US tourist visa, I got an answer back stating that she was going to be removed immediately, so I wrote again and asked why she was still on their site and I was told, "Oh!, She get's one warning first and the next time she will be removed".

That guy is out of his mind, must be midlife crisis. Poor guy!

I was very lucky to have a lot of fun on my first trip, granted the girls were not necessarily marriage material, but I was at least able to see them on Skype and knew who I was talking to
before making the trip. This guy exchanged a few letters and had no idea who he was corresponding with.

I know for a fact the girl I was corresponding with through AFA was not writing her letters and she was quite a bit different when I was finally able to make email contact. I would say much colder than the warm, fuzzy and positive letters I received originally.

"I was looking for a Ukrainian mate, a partner, somebody who would stay with me, be my wife," Dolego said. "All the Slavic ladies in this part of the world are absolutely delightful."
Social workers were shocked.
"He looked bad — his clothes were dirty, he was dirty, he looked like a typical homeless man," said Anastasia Beridze of the Narodna Dopomoha (People's Help) charity.
A woman who acknowledges being Yulia says she had been unaware of Dolego's existence during the Internet fling.
The woman, who declined to give her last name out of fear of attracting publicity, said in an interview with the AP that someone had hacked into her account on an Internet dating site and had been communicating with Dolego on her behalf, charging Dolego for those e-mails.
The woman, who was contacted through a mobile phone number provided by Dolego, acknowledged that the account he'd been interacting with on the site was hers. She denied being part of any scam. "What happened is ugly," she said.
Yulia, a 29-year-old doctor by training, said that after she found out what happened to Dolego, she paid him a visit to express her sympathy.
"I went to the hospital and he started hugging me: 'Oh Yulia, oh Yulia!' I was shocked," she said. "He thought we were getting married."
Dolego confirmed that she visited him and he believes they could still be together.
"We seemed to hit it off," Dolego said. "She wants to continue with the relationship."
Yulia has a different take. "He is not really my type," she said.
...
Passionate about engineering, he claims to have designed a "lifesaving" method to keep ships from sinking and aircraft from disintegrating during a crash. He says he sold his house, truck and motorbike and left for Ukraine to further study the method here.

It seems that he has wasted his house and car on agency girls.

Yulia said, "I registered on the website. I didn't visit it for 2 months. When I tried to log in, the password had been changed. Today, an unknown man called me and asked to visit a man at the hospital who was waiting for me. He explained that he wrote letters on my behalf and that everything was very serious - they discussed marriage. The man apologized and offered money. I decided to meet Cary."

Quote
"I met some nice ladies but my impression was they were only after money and what they could get out of an American man," said Dolego via phone from a Ukrainian shelter.

Dolego went back to Ukraine in May of this year after meeting a woman named Yulia on the website www.UkrainianBrides.com

Dolego says he fell head over heels for Yulia.

"I asked her is she would be interested in marriage and she said Y-E-S," said Dolego

Dolego would later learn someone hacked Yulia's e-mail account.

When he did eventually meet Yulia, sparks didn't exactly fly.

"I could tell from the beginning she wasn't interested," said Dolego.  "I hugged her, she didn't hug me back."

If true it sure adds an interesting twist. Maybe there is hope ?

No hope. What do you expect from a woman who is the same age as his children?
There is an interview with the woman in this video.
I don't understand it, but I heard her saying, "Pidmanula". It means "deceived".

A former write-in candidate for Arizona governor who ended up homeless in Ukraine says he is flying back to Phoenix next week after being entangled in an online dating scam.

He said Thursday he will return to Phoenix thanks to a loan from the U.S. Embassy.

Dolego said he plans to live with one of his three adult children back in Arizona and find a job, but eventually would like to return to Ukraine, a country he fell in love with.
"The people in the Ukraine are the most hospitable you'd ever want to meet," Dolego said, speaking from the Chernivtsi hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia. "I need a special lady, a Ukrainian lady so that we can start a life together."

I'm sure he'll be invited everywhere as an expert on Ukrainian brides.

With all the attention he's getting, he's the poster boy that represents every man in this forum.

Not quite.

This forum tends to represent the top and bottom 10%.

The top 10% will ask, listen, receive and propagate information based on personal experience.

The bottom 10% will insist on being the exception that invalidates input provided by the top 10%, based on theory.

The 80% that is left over never make it here in the first place, likely remaining on the couch.  They have no need and are sure of their ways.

Of course nothing is absolute.  Figure in 2% margin of error.

Ugh....ly American behavior.

Quite decent FSU behavior.  Taking care of him in their hospital--help him out with his pneumonia.
